great vibe. good food. the scallops ceviche was outstanding - a definite must try. good cocktails too. the old fashioned was good so was the cucumber margerita. definitely try the salsa with chips. all the other items on themenuare finger foods. slightly pricey for the limited food options.

mamasita is of the finer mexican restaurants in melbourne. we went for a work lunch on a random tuesday afternoon, but it was still very busy. despite this, the staff member was engaging, attentive and helpful when it came to ourmenuselections and how much to order for a big table. the popcorn ice cream dessert topped it off 👌🏻

came into mamasita two nights ago with a few family members. lined up for about 5 minutes and then got told it was going to be a 30 minute wait, to which they suggested we go have a drink elsewhere and they would call us when a table was ready. about 45 minutes later we were finally seated at our table in a well lit, vibrant room. 

we had a look through themenuand within 5 minutes everyone had decided on what they were going to get. the waiter came over and started taking our orders, but was not writing them down which was a little unsettling, especially with one of the 6 members at the table being gluten intolerant. 

i ordered a 'tostadas - braised goat' as a starter which came as 3 potentially bite size biscuits covered with corn puree, heaped with braised goat and finished with a dash of coriander. they were delicious although the goat seemed a little dry if i was being picky. i then had ordered two tacos, one 'ox tongue & cheek' and one 'fish'. the ox tonge & cheek taco was delicious and perfectly portioned. the fish taco was a little bit disappointing as it was soggy  and fell apart as soon as i picked it up.

meanwhile across from me, the gluten intolerant family member had not received any of her meals. her quesadillas finally arrived, the 'chorizo and & potatoes' and thankfully it was gluten free as per request, however it was apparently cold and lacked flavour. the starter she had ordered still had not arrived so we asked the waiter, to which it promptly arrived. a plantain, probably the largest item on themenuand their version of nachos. very nice food but i think she received a larger portion as the waiter who hadn't written our orders down had forgotten, as expected!

overall the meal was good and the atmosphere was great. will probably come back but not as a large group.

the flavours will amaze you! each bite is better than the last! you'll definitely fall in love with this place. great cocktailsmenutoo. the prawn taco was amazing.
a bit dark inside so it's hard to read the menu, gets super noisy too because it's a small place. need more dessert options.

still love them so many years. food is consistent same as in the past, very good . low light inside the restaurant makes things to see bit difficult. themenuis still pricey :)

great atmosphere. really interesting food. the ‘staff menu’ was more than enough to eat and an interesting and mixed selection of dishes. very interesting winemenuby the glass and bottle. the wines complemented the food. the hamilton mclaren vale rose went really well with the meal. highly recommend for a special night out.

great food, wonderful atmosphere, the best margaritas always. we ordered every taco they have on themenuincluding special black pudding taco. the margaritas are amazing, probably the best in town. the staff are attentive and quick, perhaps too quick. went with the family with our daughter. after paying the bill as we were leaving, a waitress who wasn’t even serving us came running after us screaming at top of her voice “have you paid the bill?...have you paid the bill?” as if we were running away, drawing attention of everyone around that was a very embarrassing. i didn’t hear her asking anyone but specifically us, we all felt that she was biased towards us because of our ethnicity. it ruined our whole experience of the evening being treated in front of everyone like we are sneaking away without paying the bill. i think the staff should be screened and trained as there is no place for racism left in the world, ironically when you serving another country’s food in australia, simply not acceptable.

i have come to mamasita for a few years now themenuhas changed a lot since then in some ways for the better however, the corn in a cup has been completely changed to something not even resembling the delicious flavour it was had.

we dined at mamasita for lunch and really enjoyed the shared lunchmenufor $29 per person. this consisted of the smokey corn, ceviche, taco and ice cream. each dish was full of flavour, and beautifully presented. great drink offerings and enjoyed the sangria.

the dessert icecream cone in particular was very generous and a great way to finish the meal.

only feedback is that as we were seated we were offered some “welcome cornchips” for the table, which were bought out with guacamole.
when we received our receipt, we were charged for this dish.
we don’t at all have a problem with this being a chargeable item and would have most likely still had them even if we had been told they were chargeable, however just wanted to point out that staff should point out that this isn’t a complimentary dish when offering. one assumes a welcome dish when offered by staff, is a welcome gesture without cost (similar to prawn crackers at a chinese restaurant). as i mentioned, we would have had no issue paying for this, but just feel it should be more transparent when being offered.

highly recommend a visit and will definitely be back!

after the years of hype about this place i have finally visited and was quite disappointed of the flavours and the dishes presented. we chose the chefsmenuand i would think they’d bring they’re best but 7/8 of our dishes were cold. the best thing i remembered was the dessert. such a shame.

very happy it's possible to book these days so we could get a table without the fuss of queuing. the food here is great - so much flavour from the exciting combination of ingredients. the bigmenucaters for diverse tastebuds and encourages sharing.

we ordered many dishes but the highlights were pork shortrib, macadamia and cashew chorizo tostada and the perfectly crunchy fried fish tacos. every dish was tasty and had fun textures.

loved that we can see the food pictures using a qr code on the menu. service was polite but not always quick, including forgotten drinks. the decor, lighting and salsa music creates a lively atmosphere. it's a place worth returning for the awesome flavours.

took our parents (for their birthdays) on saturday night. nice venue. we chose the staff favourites sharemenuand were entranced when the head chef proceeded to come and explain every course in fine detail to us, including origin, ingredients, cooking style etc. nice touch. staff were very friendly and we all had a very memorable experience. the food was delicious. can highly recommend - and will definitely try to come back.

not blown away by our visit here. service is friendly and atmosphere is nice but the food and price didn’t meet the hype for me. the corn chips with guacamole they offer you to start when you sit down before giving you amenuare $15, not complementary. the chicken we ordered for our main was pretty dry and we had a tostada and vegetable tacos which were okay but all i could taste in the roast veggie tacos was kale and beans. the brownie with raspberry sorbet was delicious, as were our cocktails.
