great vibe.goodfood. the scallops ceviche was outstanding - a definite must try.goodcocktails too. the old fashioned wasgoodso was the cucumber margerita. definitely try the salsa with chips. all the other items on the menu are finger foods. slightly pricey for the limited food options.

visited mamasitas last weekend and had very high hopes after the rave reviews it has. must say the cocktails are great and look super pretty service was great staff were lovely and knowledgeable. my friend and i shared the feed me banquet and must say the food wasgoodportions were smaller than i expected. however i had higher expectations for the flavours of the meals. still agoodfeed but a tad expensive for what you get.

liked this place a lot. my wife and i had the feed me banquet. i liked each dish for its difference. the chips were awesome and the goat meat was insane. waiting staff were really friendly, the whole place just had this great vibe of agoodrestaurant. caramel dessert was prove the highlight

the challenge reviewing mamasita's (and have visited a number of times over the years) is that my expectations are probably too high and difficult to live up to.  i do like mamasita's but not so much that i'd wait too long to get in.  i think part of the appeal is that there isn't a great many real competitors in this cuisine ; so it rates in it's space and i can understand why.  it's definitely solid, nice wine & cocktail selection, attentive service andgoodvariety to cater for the vegetarian, vegan, gf's. maybe it's the dishes i've had, but i feel that the 'spice' is a little missing. in my experiences in mexico / central america things can get hot! i know there is hot sauce on the table but that's not quite the same.  i think if you haven't been, it's definitely worth a go to make up your own mind, you won't be left unhappy for sure.. the question is more 'how' impressed you are.

a birthday celebration sadly at easter. so a group of 8, too for ever to get seated as staff milled around with not much to do. but we needed to wait for the host ... a wait of around 5 minutes.

alcohol service was variable - some v quick and some painfully slow

ok. it was easter weekend. 15% surcharge hurt. but an eftpos surcharge on top of a surcharge was rich. the service was not that good!

first thing very friendly lady staff eleanor and the head chef. verygoodinterior and ambiance. food is not delay everything on time.

we order so much but i can't post all dishes here. but some of them beyond on taste, the tacos and desserts.

we just disappointed with their fish,may be the flavour's are missing on it.

came into mamasita two nights ago with a few family members. lined up for about 5 minutes and then got told it was going to be a 30 minute wait, to which they suggested we go have a drink elsewhere and they would call us when a table was ready. about 45 minutes later we were finally seated at our table in a well lit, vibrant room. 

we had a look through the menu and within 5 minutes everyone had decided on what they were going to get. the waiter came over and started taking our orders, but was not writing them down which was a little unsettling, especially with one of the 6 members at the table being gluten intolerant. 

i ordered a 'tostadas - braised goat' as a starter which came as 3 potentially bite size biscuits covered with corn puree, heaped with braised goat and finished with a dash of coriander. they were delicious although the goat seemed a little dry if i was being picky. i then had ordered two tacos, one 'ox tongue & cheek' and one 'fish'. the ox tonge & cheek taco was delicious and perfectly portioned. the fish taco was a little bit disappointing as it was soggy  and fell apart as soon as i picked it up.

meanwhile across from me, the gluten intolerant family member had not received any of her meals. her quesadillas finally arrived, the 'chorizo and & potatoes' and thankfully it was gluten free as per request, however it was apparently cold and lacked flavour. the starter she had ordered still had not arrived so we asked the waiter, to which it promptly arrived. a plantain, probably the largest item on the menu and their version of nachos. very nice food but i think she received a larger portion as the waiter who hadn't written our orders down had forgotten, as expected!

overall the meal wasgoodand the atmosphere was great. will probably come back but not as a large group.

with so manygoodreviews about the restaurant, we had high expectations.

we arrived 545 and the queues had started already. after waiting 20 min, we were seated. we had the corns which were sooooo good. literally best thing ever. we also had pork and fish tacos which were amazing too. my boyfriend really liked the goat tostada. i had the cured trout which was nice but wouldn't order again. the chicken wings were also amazing. the sauce was finger licking good! perfect combination of sweet, smokey and barbecue!

we also had a tequila flight which was interesting!

lastly the service wasgoodand mid way through dinner they had live music for 10 min to entertain the patrons.

definitely recommend

mamasita at collins. actually i am a bit disappointed as i expected to high for the food. it is traditional food but not that rich taste and tasty. mole chicken is green but chocolate source. tacos are nice but just ok.goodplace to dine in but i really miss mexico city now!

not going to review the usual items like corn cob because people have already done so hundreds of times! the mocktails are honestly the best that i've had so give those a go. the grapefruit fennel salad is also delicious, perfect for balancing rich flavours like the beef short ribs. food overall is verygoodand portions are on the small side. service is absolutely fantastic

still love them so many years. food is consistent same as in the past, verygood. low light inside the restaurant makes things to see bit difficult. the menu is still pricey :)

we tried several dishes here from the corn appetizer, the goat tostados, the ceviche and pork tacos..

everything wasgoodand can't say anything bad about the dishes.. but personally what would make me willing to go back and wait in a queue are dishes that have flavors that i haven't tried in other restaurants..

and in this case my two standout dishes that would keep me coming back are the corn and the ceviche.

the corn was topped with cheese, a sauce and spices that made me want to find out their recipe so i can try and replicate it.. and the ceviche was a welcome shift to have something refreshing and light before going into our main meals.

overall was a happy dining experience for the price we paid :)

one of the travelmints team brought her parents here 12 years ago, and subsequently returned here with her husband 1 week after she got married in 2021. things are still the same, mamasita serves extremelygoodquality fresh mexican food and they also offer a fun tequila tasting board!

the staff here are very friendly and attentive too. there's no doubt that this place is the place to go if you ever want to enjoy mexican food and vibes!

mamasita is a great place for a date. the food tastes great, the portion sizes aregoodfor sharing and the prices are reasonable. we sat at the bar so the table space was a bit small but the staff were attentive and served the dishes in courses.

wow what a delightful dining experience! my friend and i chose the "feed me" option. after the first bite i took i was already in heaven! the flavours were so delicious! my friend and i had such agoodtime! it was an amazing food journey! also the vibe of the place is really relaxed and friendly. and the staff are super attentive and friendly! i highly recommend thsi place! you should make a booking too, because it is quite popular.
