i can never go wrong with lorraine's. you can literally smell the freshly basked tarts, cakes and goods when walking own george street, finding the little open kitchen hidden in palings lane.

everytime i go i must get the following two; their new york cheesecake and the paris brest. their cheesecake is honestly solightand fluffy, it literally melts in your mouth. it's not too sweet, where there's hints of lemon and ginger from the cookie base. whereas, the paris brest is made from their amazing choux pastry filled with the most amazing hazelnut cream. you honestly need to try it for yourself!

my absolute favourite dessert place and the reason for my numerous trips back up to sydney, lorraines serves up delicious, authentic french desserts.

their cheesecake($10) is simply amazing - itslightand almost mousse-like with a subtle tartness from the lemon which balances out any richness. the crust is also on point, perfectly crunchy but not brittle or hard. i could eat this every day and never get sick of it. the toffee vanilla choux puff($4) was also perfect - the toffee adding crunch and sweetness, vanilla cream perfectly thick and creamy and of course the choux waslightand airy. i loved the way the flavours harmonised together. i loved the  strawberry mascarpone cake($10) which completely blew me away on the first bite - fluffiness and crunch from the meringue, nuttiness from the coconut while the tart strawberries worked so well with the rich mascarpone. i did find it a bit too rich towards the end because of the coconut and cream however it may have been due to the sheer amount of cake i had. my friend also enjoyed their raspberry choux($7.50) but make sure you eat them fresh for the best experience!!! overall an out-of-this-world sweets experience and well worth the price.

unfortunately the store is very small and they don't have any seating available but i'm more than happy to take as many trips as are necessary to try all of lorraine's offerings! my only wish for this place is that hopefully the guy who is serving will be more careful when getting the cakes as he almost just tosses them into the box and it happened on both occasions i visited t_t

.🍰toffee vanilla choux puff🍰
on the outside, the caramel is crunchy and sweet while the vanilla cream inside is fluffy and light. this creates a unique texture which i enjoyed very much. highly recommended!!!
.
🍰macadamia salted caramel chocolate tart🍰
well, what can i say..... i just love everything that has to do with salted caramel. this tart is very chocolaty but not too sweet as the sweetness is balanced out by the salty taste.
.
🍰 mascarpone cake🍰
best mascarpone cake ever!!! to my surprise, this cake was not sweetening at all. every ingredient blended together so well that it created a happy marriage of flavours. the sweet strawberries, thelightmascarpone cream, the refreshing coconut dacquoise layer and the crunchy brulee layer at the top.....so delicious!
.
🍰 ruby's cake🍰
perfect layers of orange scented choc mousse, hazelnut dacquoise, choc hazelnut crisp, vanilla mousse and cinnamon meringue. the thing i love about this cake is that it has so many layers of flavours and yet they blended together wonderfully in unison. i especially enjoyed the crunchy hazelnut crisp, it adds a delicate touch to the cake.

.✏️note: four down, more to go

the cakes here are on another level❤️❤️ love love love how the flavours of the cakes are not too sugary or overly sweet which is a problem i find in a lot of other cake shops. the cakes here are solightand fluffy that my fork just glided through them! and don't even get me started on the cream of the cake. i can rave all day about lorraine patisserie. literally heaven in the form of a cake.

visited here after seeing the reviews on zomato. reached around 5 in the evening they didn't have much left tried the raspberry tart and the ruby cake. the tart was good the biscuit base a bit hard after refrigerating it. the ruby cake was lovely it waslightand creamy. it's a caramel dessert but overly sweet thankfully.

need to go back and try the mascarpone cake that this place is so famous for.

their pastries are amazing! beautifully presented. it is true that you eat with your eyes, when i saw them in the shop i wanted to try them all! luckily (or unlucky) for me, i went in the afternoon, and a lot of items were already sold out, and not many selections were left to choose from. i opted for the chocolate eclair and the blueberry & white chocolate choux bun. the choc eclair was hands down the best choc eclair i've ever had. it was layered with different textures and variation of chocolates, with alightchoc creme filling, a dark choc coating of the top pastry, and the choc coated crunchy malt balls on top. the best thing was the caramelised whole hazelnuts hidden inside the creme filling. the choux bun was great too. with a distinct red coating on top, the white choc creme was not too sweet nor heavy, and the addition of the blueberry jam inside gave it great contrast and balance. i can't wait to go back and try the rest of their offerings!

been skeptical about this place, i had a look at the menu and been avoiding burning a hole in my wallet for cakes. i caved and picked up 4 pieces for mums birthday (ended up being about $35 ... sheeeesh). rubys cake was decadent, well balanced, smooth and just damn gorgeous. mascarpone cake was like nothing ive had before i love the different coconut, mascarpone, strawberry and brulee layers, amazing. new york style cheesecake was so fluffy andlight- i loved it!!!! ive been hunting for the perfect rhubarb pie .. although it wasnt my favourite, it is definitely the best ive had so far. its difficult to get the buttery crust to the perfect consistency and thickness. slightly sour compliments the sugar coated top. my mum loved everything. i wish it wasnt so expensive... but id go back again to try their other pastries, cakes etc... maybe for birthdays only.

everytime i visit this store, i still havent got chances to try their best selling mascarpone cake..
this time i got ruby cake, chocolate croissant and wagyu beef pie.. both croissant and pie were flaky andlightand the cake was so delicate and bursted in chocolate and hazelnut flavour.. it reminded me of eating ferrero rocher in the form of a delicate and complex cake..

d e c a d e n c e. the latin root of decadence means "to fall down," and the flourless chocolate cake from lorraine's patisserie could potentially make you do just that.

i expected this cake to be heavy, dense and extremely rich, the type of cake you can only manage a small slice of. i could not be more wrong. what i tasted waslightand airy and almost mousse-like in texture - the type of cake that has you begging for seconds before you finish your first bite. this semisweet cake is definitely one for the dark chocolate lovers of the world.

a small cake ($22) is the perfect amount for four.

strawberry mascarpone cake~ wow that's amazing! i thought lorraine is famous for cheesecake, but the mascarpone is so attractive so i got both of them. cheesecake is soft and rich just like an elegant lady, but mascarpone is more active andlightwhich is a young girl. if you are around here in the city seeking for some fancy desserts and happen to be a huge fan of cheese, lorraine would be a great choice.

there may be cakes out there which claim to be ‘light’, but this is it, this is light. the sponge in between is fluffy, the mascarpone cream cheese in between the cake is so airy and light. together, sandwiching the sweet and sour strawberries make this such a refreshing treat! in addition, the crunchy caramel on the top layer along with the icing sugar just tops this all off and make this one of the best cheesecakes i’ve ever had (note: i am very partial tolightdesserts). i will definitely revisit when i
