the pros: the most delicious, juicy duck, great ambiance, perfect for a date night or taking visitors.
the cons: extremely overpriced. $24 for 2 x bean curd rolls? $29 for a small serving of mediocre massaman beef curry that was lean and dry. $16 for 2 scoops of ice cream?! we were also overcharged for items we didn't order or didn't receive. our waitress charged us for 2 x servings of rice that we didn't order. it's incredibly presumptuous to add a side to a customers order. despite having an early booking and the restaurant not being at full capacity, we felt rushed with our waitress hassling us. it made for an unpleasant experience when we were celebrating a special occasion.

one of our favourite places – in the basement of the restored state buildings long chim is turning out the best thai food in perth, in a great location – you can eat at the bar, in the restaurant proper between the arches, or out in the courtyard, weather permitting – it has something for everyone, so long as you enjoy food in the robust bangkok street style – spicy, at times hot, but always full of authentic aromatic and zesty thai flavours.

so expensive for what you get. while the place looks good, it’s not fine dining.. we were seated in a food court style row of seats. the service and quality also doesn’t match up. my local neighbourhood thai has more flavour.

first time eating at long chim. since i am not from perth, it took me some time to go d it. you have to look for stairs going down.

the restaurant is dimly lit. service is good and staff attentive.

i have ordered the thai seafood laksa. the broth is richer compared to malaysian laksa. the bowl of laksa came piping hot with vermicelli noodles, seafood balls, prawns and very spicy coconut soup. compliment the fiery dish with lemongrass drink.

overall very tasty and spicy. highly recommended.

oh wow this place is amazing. we came here for dinner on friday night. we managed to reserve a table inside for 8pm. the lighting is dim and the restaurant is cosy and romantic. the staff were all lovely and the food was absolutely freaking delicious!! i highly recommend giving this place a visit. the octopus and every other grilled item was a 10/10 and they had no issue with serving the sauces on the side!

headed to long chim on a busy friday without a booking and they were able to squeeze us in with a short wait at the bar. both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks were delicious with hints of asian fruits and spices such a kafir like and nutmeg.
service was impeccable, while we were waiting they would check on us every 5 or 10 mins to make sure we knew we hadn't been forgotten. they were all very knowledgeable on menu items and made suitable recommendations.
food came out quickly and i couldnt fault any of it. the crunchy prawns, squid and duck fried rice were cooked to perfection. id probably chose a curry instead of the lemongrass fish next time but it was still tasty.

was put off by so, so many comments - mostly price wise - about long chim, but i’m glad i did.

the service is fantastic, first off. my crustacean allergy was considered and handled with an email of the menu specifically highlighting which items i should avoid, and which i should be aware of. aside from attention to detail, the service was unobtrusive, friendly and extremely pleasant. this alone stands well above the rest of perth.

the cocktails we got were very, very nice. well made, well balanced and just delicious and easy to drink.

we had the fragrant chicken satay, duck fried rice, pork pineapple curry, papaya salad. the food is great. expensive, yes, but it was well worth it, considering the two stunning desserts we ordered.

the sticky rice with mango is one of the best things i’ve had in a while, the mango is sweet, ripe and tender. the sticky rice is salty, creamy and delightfully chewy and rich. the thai tea ice cream is in a league of its own. incredibly flavourful, smooth and delicious.

good god, simple delicious food done incredibly well. will be back!

both times at restaurant have been outstanding. this is my new favourite asian cuisine in perth both for work events and date night. love the set menu options providing a variety of scrumptious dishes and the cocktails were top notch. friendly, helpful service, decor is impressive and ambiance is spot on.

went on a busy saturday night without a booking and was able to be seated outside. we were right under the heaters so wasn’t cold at all. it was a bit hard to get service as the waitresses were always busy. the food was amazing and authentic. we had the grilled octopus, smashed prawn curry and papaya salad. all three dishes were delicious. the non-alcoholic cocktails we ordered were average. i would definitely be returning for the food!

the table should be hold up to 30min from the booked time. we arrived within 30min as required, but we were told our table is gone as the system showed it passed 30min. although we still got a table, but the services were apathy. the staff seemed unhappy for us to bring the birthday cake and didn’t mention any fee when they were asked to put the cake in the fridge. but fees were charged when paying the bill without the transparent information shown anywhere on the menu or in the booking system. taste-wise, very average food. very small portion based on the price charged. never come back.

got the chance to try out long chim during a recent trip to perth. we dined in on a sunday night and enjoyed two starters and three larger dishes which was perfect for two people. the food itself tasted great and the portions were larger than i expected. the place itself is set in the basement of the treasury building and had a great atmosphere, being quite lively for a sunday night. would recommend!

this is quite simply the most beautiful thai food ive ever eaten. ive spent a lot of time in thailand and they have faithfully recreated the flavours with top shelf ingredients.

love this place. bring your wallet - it aint cheap but theres a reason for that. its amazing.
