i tasted many dishes here as part of a fantastic degustation menu.
stir fried mussels with chilli jam - really appreciated this dish, so yummy.
a dish of stir fried watercress with garlic and yellow beans.
crunchy tiny prawns with herbs and chillies, a very good starter!!!
beef skewers with turmeric, cumin and coriander - a nice starter.
chiang mai larp of chicken which was too hot and you even could not ask to make it less spicy.. who knows why..
a delicate coconut and turmeric curry of chicken at long chim. very good and delicate flavor. loved it.

this was my fourth time at long chim and the food did not disappoint. absolutely divine and our waiter, who had only been there for 3 weeks was outstanding. his knowledge of the menu and ingredients was impressive. we had a family group with children for dinner and the waitstaff were welcoming and accommodating. will be back again... and again... cannot recommend highly enough even for the most discerning of asian customers - even my 80 yo asian mother gave it the tick of approval!

can't rate it more that 2.5, sorry. the problem with most perth "fine dining" or upmarket venues is that you come to get a great service and unforgettable food experience (since you're paying 3 times the price of a local takeaway shop) - and instead it's average at best for the premium price.
anyways, the good: pretty decorations, nice tables, cute outdoors area. it's a pleasant place to spend a few hours at. thumbs up for that. tasty green curry (with not much meat though).
the bad: the food is nothing special. at all. beef in the massaman curry (which is supposed to be melting in your mouth) was stiff and leathery. duck curry had maybe 4 pieces of duck, that's all. the amount of rice (plain boring rice) wasn't nearly enough for 4 people. the wine glass my friend has been given wasn't clean enough so she had to ask for a replacement. a small bottle of cider for $11. total bill of $200. the overall feeling in the end: hmmmmm, and this is considered good?? cmon perth, stop praising mediocre overpriced places! design and good service are supposed to be default to attract the customers, and then the food is supposed to wow - not just be acceptable. a place like that wouldn't survive in melbourne or europe.

first time coming here. have been trying to get into this place for a long time. weekends are always busy. even tonight it was busy. just as well i had made a reservation. staff are friendly and our food and drinks came quite promptly. i ordered the virgin mary. one if the best i had in a while, loved the extra kick of the spice.
between the three of us, we ordered a vegetable curry, stir fried chinese broccoli with crispy pork (which in other asian term is roast pork) in oyster sauce, grilled pork skewers, and charred noodles with chicken and squid. grilled pork was very tasty, the stir fried vegetable was quite ordinary, the vegetable curry was delicious and had a nice spice to it, the char grilled noodles smelled delicious on arrival to our table, although quite tasty could do with less salt.
didn't have the stomach to have dessert as we were stuffed. would definitely come and try other dishes and the dessert.

we had pre-dinner drinks. there was gin and spring rolls. also mini sang choy pau or savory mince meat on lettuce 🥬 pockets. we had a stand up session until we were called to dinner.

*rating is a 4.5*
came for dinner for 4 on a saturday night. we were promptly seated by our friendly host and proceeded to order:
- vege spring rolls (standard),
- crunchy prawns (tasty)
- green papaya salad (delicious)
- siamese watercress (very tasty)
- massaman beef curry (very good)
- deep fried fish (good)
- charred noodles (delicious)
- for dessert we tried the banana roti which was surprisingly delicious, as was the mango and sticky rice.
overall the dishes were balanced, flavour packed, but generally very spicy (be warned!). the restaurant itself is very funky and has a distinctly ‘melbourne-like’ vibe which i love. service was very good. definitely worth a visit.

we recently visited long chim and were totally blown away and were totally impressed. can't believe this is the same place where we had a bad (not so good) experience last year. this is our third visit to long chim perth and by far the best one.

everything was just perfect, wonderful from the start to finish.we truly enjoyed our lunch/ meal and it was truly a festival of flavours !!

omg we are totally in love with the larb of chicken and mashed chicken curry (yellow curry)

larb of chicken is totally an explosion of flavours, herbs and spices. it is dynamite - my favorite entree and dish of the day !! we also ordered the some vegetarian spring rolls - they were nice, hot, crunchy and fried to golden perfection.we also ordered crunchy prawns for entrees - whole crunchy prawns (with heads) served with fried shallots, finely sliced shallots and lots of coriander and other herbs. again a big tick - really goes well with a cold beer or any cocktails.

for mains we ordered mashed chicken curry - it is very similar to the prawn mashed curry, long chim's signature dish. initially i was a bit skeptical but the chicken was tender and mashed in the coconut and turmeric gravy. the yellow curry was really flavoursome, rich and intense. has the right balance of all the flavours - sweet, salty, sour and spicy
this dish was recommended by the staff and we will surely be back for seconds soon !! this is my new go-to-dish as they have removed my favorite prawn mashed curry from the menu.

for dessert, we ordered the rin's thai tea ice cream with pistachios and young coconut - and it was a perfect way to finish your meal.

in short excellent food, amazing service and a perfect meal / lunch-date.

went along in a group of 15 on a friday night, this place is popular and busy ! if you can get a spot it’s really interesting food, very fresh tasting and just enough spice, the deep fried fish was really good but in general every dish had its own interest.

what a way to ruin a night 😑 my girlfriend and i went to long chim for our 5th anniversary. at first everything was going well. food was nice it took a while for our mains to arrive which we understood since it was on a busy friday. no complaints there. however, when we were still eating our starters, there was this waiter (a guy) who first asked us if we were done with our food (even though there were still a lot on the plate and we were still eating) to which we politely said no. we weren't done with them yet. then came our mains. our plate was still pretty full and he came back and asked us again if we were done. which we obviously wasn't even close. but because we got annoyed with him pestering us if we were done, my girlfriend and i just said yes and left.

there were literally still food on our plates and i was in the middle of chewing my food but he kept asking if we were done. the rest of the waiters were amazing except for that one guy who kept wanting to clear our table.

this is not a restaurant for the faint hearted. owned by aussie thaiophile chef david thompson, it is a fun place to go – loud, brash and unashamedly like a street style cafe. the food is authentic in looks, flavour and spice – it is hot, you know, silom road hot, so if you can’t take spicy food, then maybe this is not the best choice for you.

we went on nye and were locked into the set menu. the beef skewers were disgusting! it was basically fat on skewers and were inedible. the manager sent it back to kitchen and gave us new ones. they were still inedible. we deserve good quality meat for $75 per person. the presentation of the dishes were also unappetising. the photos were evidence of bad thai food in the pretence of being upmarket. we felt cheated!

3.5/5 a nice upper market asian restaurant in the heart of perth. the spring rolls were homemade and the chicken wings had good flavour. the noodles were ok, the egg brought a bit of a smokey flavour which i thought detracted from the dish. the standout was the chinese broccoli - the sauce was well balanced and complementary. the banana roti for dessert was nice but super sweet, had to be eaten slowly.
