what a find! we heard from friends about this new spot that has recently opened on the new development on the kingston foreshore. we came in for breakfast on a sunday morning and it was full with no spare seats, upon entering a waiter asked if we were looking for a seat and told us to hold tight while he organised a table. i thought this was extremely courteous and professional as they were busy yet he took the time to arrange atablefor us. we ordered the green breaky plate and pea pancake and 2 of their cold pressed juices, we were given a run down on the whole foods aspect of this cafe and the method of juicing they use which was a very nice touch. the food was outstanding! being a self proclaimed foodie i have never really quite ate a dish like the greens breaky plate and was a little sceptical but was amazed at the quality and freshness also the balance of flavours was spot on! we had coffee and a chocolate brownie after our meals and was a very nice way to finish up a great experience. if you haven't been yet make sure you check it out! definitely my new weekend hang out.

such a popular place for brunch! we went there 10am and still need to wait for atableand the waiting line were never stopped.
the service was little bit slow and not very attentive given how busy they were, it was fine.
the ingredients they used in drinks and food were all locally sourced wherever possible; protein were all free range, pasture free, chemical&hormone free. probably that why the price of the meals were kind of pricy. the food menu was full of healthy options. portion is big and overall taste was good.

white coffee was nice but the bottled cold brew was just ok. i loved the coconut water which was really natural, light, refreshing and not sweet at all.

#kangaroo salad#-grilled kangaroo meat served with zucchini noodle, roasted pumpkin and beetroot purée. the kangaroo meat was really tender and seasoned well. you rarely see cafe serving kangaroo meat, so if you are adventurous, definitely should try it.

#salmon on toast#-salmon sashimi served with toasts, poached eggs, smashed avocado, pickles, and jam. eggs were poached nicely with really running egg yolk, the salmon sashimi was fresh. i loved the touch of pickles and sweet fig jam? ,which make the dish more interesting.

i always love visiting some of canberra's favourite eateries and checking out what they have to offer. we gave local press cafe a shot on a sunday at around midday - plenty of people were about and we waited in line for 10 or so minutes prior to been seated. i was pleased that we were able to score atableto ourselves, as the sharetablein the middle of the cafe didn't look very comfortable given the little space between customers (this is particularly uncomfortable for some). i thought the decor was really cool and the mood vibrant - it's generally a pleasant place to have breakfast. i was a little confused why such a popular cafe wouldn't offertableservice - ordering at the counter is very old school and my opinion is it's well worth a popular cafe doing that little extra for their guests. the coffee was really nice. whilst busy, the 55 odd minutes we had to wait for our breakfast is a tad long, especially considering we ordered eggs on toast and beetroot fritters. the food however was really nice. eggs were cooked perfectly and the fritters were incredibly tastey. we were happy with our experience here - but whilst local press appear to do the most important things well, i thought the length of time we had to wait for our breakfast and the service were a little disappointing.

a friendly piece of advice for management - charging customers a 5% surcharge for paywave and credit card purchases on a weekend (2% during the week) is unnecessary. (sorry to end on a negative note!)

once in a while, on that special day when everything is perfect, you find that moment in life where everything feels right. that's what i felt eating these beetroot fritters! holy crap i had a mouthgasm at this cafe in front if my cousin and his girlfriend and i wasn't even embarrassed.

the local press cafe sells wholefoods and targets the new hipster audience where eating sustainable and healthy is the goal. obviously this does not mean you need to forgo eating delicious food, and this cafe has struck the right balance. this is a immensely busy waterfront cafe, we only had to wait 15 minutes for atablebut the whole time we were eating there were people waiting in a long queue for a table. we were lucky enough to have good weather, so sat outside under the shade of umbrellas enjoying the sunny weather from the safely of shade.

i ordered the beet fritters with added salmon florette and a glass of their greens smoothie which on that day happened to be rockmelon, banana, kale, apple and ginger. the smoothie was okay and nothing to rave about but the fritters! hold on to your socks, the combination of salmon, eggs, fritters, relish and goat's cheese will blow your mind! my cousin and i both ordered the fritters and we were both just amazed at the flavour.

the service was pretty interesting, they are run like an asian cafeteria, you are allocated a seat, then once you've decided on your order you go to the cashier to place your order and pay, then collect your cutlery and water bottle and glasses if required. the food and drinks are brought to yourtablewhen ready. this doesn't detract from the experience but was just a novelty. service as still good and the atmosphere was friendly and vibrant. if your looking for a place with awesome food where you can chat and catch up with friends, don't hesitate to check out the local press.

absolutely appalling customer service! drove 30 minutes to come to this cafe, and asked if we could wait for atableoutside, to which the waiter replied sure, just grab atablewhen it pops up. which is what we did after waiting for about 20 minutes, onetablegot taken, so we took another table, the same waiter came up and said, sorry you can't have that table, that's for 5 people. good to see that money is more important to you then looking after your customers.

very poor customer service!! we were shoved to the side to wait for atableand as the tables became vacant they seated customers who had just arrived. you would think that we would be priority seeing as though we had already ordered, payed and received atablenumber... as atablebecame vacant we went to seat ourselves down and got told rudely by the staff that we had to be on the waiting list and they seated another family who had just arrived!!!! what waiting list? we had already purchased our meals!! ... why were you seating customers who had just arrived instead of seating the customers who have already purchased your food and received atablenumber?!

inefficient ordering system. this cafe has great food in a great setting. however, since i was here last they have changed the ordering system so that guests now have to cue up to order and pay up front. at busy times you can be waiting quite w while. i think this place needs to re-gain some class and provide full pay at thetableservice. shame

great brekky cafe. happy new find in kingston quay area!. what a great little cafe! go there - you'll love it. good food. good coffee, friendly waiters, interesting decor, nice view. very inviting when you are walking along the quay. sunny spot, with eclectic chairs and tables, plants etc. (even a happy dog, sitting under thetablewith water bowl provided at the side).
after having walked past another very sterile industrial looking cafe first, i'm glad we found this one!
as it was a bit breezy outside, so we decided to sit inside.
we were immediately greeted by a pleasant young man (who looked like reece mastin) and picked our own table.
funky distressed walls and wooden furniture, open light globes, a very cool interior.
admittedly it was 10am on friday morning and we decided just to go for coffee on the new quay waterfront area at kingston. but when i saw the menu, i had to have the poached eggs on rye with ham and avocado. we both had coffee that came with a cute little piece of paper that described how the coffee was made and where it came from. the ham was so good, with perfect runny eggs. rye toast was a bit hard, but the avocado and pea sprouts were a yum addition. coffee was lovely. maurice, the friendly waiter came and told us about how the coffee was made, when we asked about it. he's obviously dedicated to making the coffee as good as he can, trying it every morning and modifying the ratios, to be consistent and enjoyable coffee for his customers.
lots of people came in later in the morning. an obviously popular place. (i overheard a woman say "this is my favourite place at the moment"
other choices of food seemed healthy and appealing.
just a bit different from other cafes. price was middle of the road, but quality is high.
our experience was such a pleasant surprise. we'll be back soon! ;-)
