what a find! we heard from friends about this new spot that has recently opened on the new development on the kingston foreshore. we came in forbreakfaston a sunday morning and it was full with no spare seats, upon entering a waiter asked if we were looking for a seat and told us to hold tight while he organised a table. i thought this was extremely courteous and professional as they were busy yet he took the time to arrange a table for us. we ordered the green breaky plate and pea pancake and 2 of their cold pressed juices, we were given a run down on the whole foods aspect of this cafe and the method of juicing they use which was a very nice touch. the food was outstanding! being a self proclaimed foodie i have never really quite ate a dish like the greens breaky plate and was a little sceptical but was amazed at the quality and freshness also the balance of flavours was spot on! we had coffee and a chocolate brownie after our meals and was a very nice way to finish up a great experience. if you haven't been yet make sure you check it out! definitely my new weekend hang out.

delicious whole foods! i had a berry and dragonfruit smoothie with seeds while i read my book. was delicious and lasted a good while with good views of the lake and people watching as i drank. returned forbreakfastone morning to have the waffles - extremely tasty and filling, would definitely recommend! the waffles seemed to be made of almost an orange and poppy seed muffin texture that went perfectly with the fresh fruit. service was also quick and friendly. couldn't recommend more highly!

good food. bit of a queue. but i guess the quality dictates the queue. good size portions. a good twist of thebreakfastclassics! recommend the 'cornish' sausage.

anyone else feel like country music is slowly squeezing into today’s music scene? i’m pretty happy about it as i’m a big country music fan. had the bacon and egg bagel with a long black forbreakfastthis morning. danny also had the same thing except he got a flat white instead of a long black. we reckon we will go back tomorrow cause we liked it. great water view too. coffee 7.7/10

one of my favourite brunch places in canberra! haven’t had a dish that didn’t taste good yet.

this time i tried the lpbreakfastwith the minty kiwi smoothie and my friends had the salmon on rye. the flavors were balanced wonderfully, however my one gripe would be there was too much avo, but i am not a big avo fan.

the smoothie was very coconutty and you couldn’t really taste any kiwi or mint (didn’t really live up to its name) but i guess it was healthy. i probably would go for the salted peanut caramel one next time though.

overall a great meal.

i definitely love the decorations of this place, so chic and fun! would be nice to hang out with loved ones here or just sit and have a nice coffee by yourself. the view is great too - it’s next to the lake. i tried the lpbreakfastand especially loved the various types of mushrooms in it. the mint kiwi smoothie is awesome too - it’s got a bit traditional chinese medicine “goqi” in there and i love it!!!so sad i’m only in canberra for a weekend. if i live here i would for sure come again.

this place is great! right on the foreshore so very nice views. busy but not too much so. we had thebreakfasttortilla (very good and kept him full all day!) and two plates from their ‘make your own plate’ section. i loved this because i’m trying to eat low carb and it allowed me to have a yummybreakfastwith out tempting toast on the plate. i had the mushrooms, ham and two eggs - a very generous serve and very tasty. also the cold pressed juices are very nice.

i always love visiting some of canberra's favourite eateries and checking out what they have to offer. we gave local press cafe a shot on a sunday at around midday - plenty of people were about and we waited in line for 10 or so minutes prior to been seated. i was pleased that we were able to score a table to ourselves, as the share table in the middle of the cafe didn't look very comfortable given the little space between customers (this is particularly uncomfortable for some). i thought the decor was really cool and the mood vibrant - it's generally a pleasant place to have breakfast. i was a little confused why such a popular cafe wouldn't offer table service - ordering at the counter is very old school and my opinion is it's well worth a popular cafe doing that little extra for their guests. the coffee was really nice. whilst busy, the 55 odd minutes we had to wait for ourbreakfastis a tad long, especially considering we ordered eggs on toast and beetroot fritters. the food however was really nice. eggs were cooked perfectly and the fritters were incredibly tastey. we were happy with our experience here - but whilst local press appear to do the most important things well, i thought the length of time we had to wait for ourbreakfastand the service were a little disappointing.

a friendly piece of advice for management - charging customers a 5% surcharge for paywave and credit card purchases on a weekend (2% during the week) is unnecessary. (sorry to end on a negative note!)

nested in the middle of the kingston foreshore boardwalk, this local cafe offers a healthy, vibrant vibe to start the day. with lovely views across the lake, the menu exhibits mostly local fresh produce.

service is order by the counter. help yourself to the water bottle and cups. fresh cold press (bottled) juices available for order alongside the usual coffee, tea and smoothies.

available all day arebreakfastand lunch options. the wild mushrooms a little greasy and slightly overdone. the granola and sago-chia pudding however was delightfully healthy and well presented with a medley of fresh fruits, coconut cream and mango sago pudding. coffee is perfectly acceptable although not quite as robust in flavour or depth as another cafe 50m down the boardwalk. beautifully peaceful weekday mornings, this place is a buzz of activity on weekends.

it's a little expensive, with additional surcharges for the weekend. but popular for a reason. a local go-to.

local press is very hipster, reminds me of being in melbourne. i have been here a few times and have always enjoyed mybreakfastand coffee. the green pancakes or the mushrooms are always my top choices. on a nice day, i like to sit outside, enjoy the sunshine and people watch.

went to the local press for a lazybreakfast/brunch (lunch menu avail from 11am) with a group of mates who were all visiting canberra. everything we had was great a few of us went for the brekky menu (delicious wild mushroom, green pea pancake - pictured) and others went for lunch which from all accounts was just as good! service was relatively quick and efficient with the only slight area the experience that could have been improved was the fact that we had to go up to make an order meaning all our food came out at different times, didn't help that the place was packed! all in all great spot and will definitely be paying it another visit when back in canberra!

i love local press cafe! it is one of my favourite places forbreakfastin canberra and i love bringing family and friends here when they visit from interstate. the food is always fresh, delicious, healthy and full of flavour. the use sustainable produce and often support good causes. i love the smoothies, juice, coffee, decor and the atmosphere too! it can get really busy so the earlier you arrive the better. definitely worth the wait if you have to wait though.

excellent in a word! picked to go here for a nicebreakfastthis morning and it is , i would say, the best i have had. poached eggs on 10 seed bread, mushroom with a little avo on the side and with very nice, hot coffee. very nice quirky seating on the water front, canberra's no smoking laws at eating places are fantastic, it was nice to actually be able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather without having to put up with dirty disgusting inconsiderate selfish smokers blowing their toxic cloud over everyone! definitely give this a try if you are in canberra.
