went to the local press for a lazy breakfast /brunch (lunch menu avail from 11am) with a group of mates who were all visiting canberra. everything we had was great a few of us went for the brekky menu (delicious wild mushroom, green pea pancake - pictured) and others went for lunch which from all accounts was just as good! service was relatively quick and efficient with the only slight area the experience that could have been improved was the fact that we had to go up to make an order meaning all our food came out at different times, didn't help that the place was packed! all in all great spot and will definitely be paying it another visit when back in canberra!

absolutely appalling customer service! drove 30 minutes to come to this cafe, and asked if we could wait for a table outside, to which the waiter replied sure, just grab a table when it pops up. which is what we did after waiting for about 20 minutes, one table got taken, so we took another table, the same waiter came up and said, sorry you can't have that table, that's for 5 people. good to see that money is more important to you then looking after your customers.

i wonder if the management has changed - i don't recognise any of the staff there currently. and the usual staple of the green breaky plate no longer exists. maybe just a sign of progression. what hasn't changed is the beautiful colours and presentation, not only of the food but the loosely nautical themed decor.

having been here once before, i had my expectations pretty high and today did not disappoint. service was quick and friendly and the food was to die for! i had the green pea pancake and was absolutely in love before i had tasted it, which only made me fall for this meal even more. definitely would recommend.

local press is great for breakfasts. we went on a weekday when it was a little quieter, but on weekends it's super busy. our picks from our most recent visit were the waffles with butterscotch pears and the oat porridge. both were delicious and very pretty to look at. local press do great coffees and juices too. worth checking out.

i love local press cafe! it is one of my favourite places for breakfast in canberra and i love bringing family and friends here when they visit from interstate. the food is always fresh, delicious, healthy and full of flavour. the use sustainable produce and often support good causes. i love the smoothies, juice, coffee, decor and the atmosphere too! it can get really busy so the earlier you arrive the better. definitely worth the wait if you have to wait though.

when twohappybellies decide to go on a weekend getaway, we are always searching for highly rated and recommended places to eat our next meal, so when choosing where to have brunch on a saturday morning, the highly rated local press café was an easy choice. located on the bank of lake burley griffin in boat harbour, local press café enjoys a picturesque backdrop with wetlands and hills situated on the otherside of the lake. we arrived mid morning to a busy cafe but luckily did not have to wait too long for a table. orders need to be placed at the counter although they do bring coffee and food out to the table.

sssssstonkingly good coffee. if you're after one near the kingston foreshore/markets, the local press won't disappoint. also tried the slices, which i can recommend. the look of the meals coming out as we waited in queue to order also looked delicious. the fact that the place is absolutely buzzing on a nice day says a lot.

we stopped in for drinks gavin seen the queue out the door for brekky the previous weekend. would love to go back for food, but drinks were just fine. the chai was not my favourite blend ever, and the juices for which it is named were fresh and mildly interesting but not blow-your-mind.

didn't have to wait for long despite what looked like a full house. came here for a weekend brunch and food was great. good portions and was full of flavour. i like how their fresh juices were pre packaged in cute glass bottles and ready to go. on another note, service wasn't the best. rushed seating, no explanation on how to order and was not handed a menu. the waiter also tried to clear my plate before i had finished. overall a good experience though.

this popular cafe was worth the short wait we had this morning. food was interesting and very generous. if you are not too hungry i definitely recommend sharing one of the brunch dishes. we had a dukkah egg, kale, quinoa, fetta dish which was lovely and arrived quickly. pay at the counter deal. great location next to the lake. we had to wait abiut 10 min at 9.30 on a sunday so i think getting there early is a good idea - i imagine the wait at 11am would be long!

i think this has to be one of my favourite cafes. it is such a shame that it is so far from where i live! my cousin and i were on the hunt for a good meal to start off the day as we were road tripping threw the area at the time and discovered this joint. the decor is very hip and colourful and the staff were very friendly. we didn't know that we had to order at the counter so we waited a while before asking a waiter. the coffee was great and the food was not only delicious but presented so beautifully on the plate. i would definitely come back the next time i find myself down there!

service is good and i like the menu but i'd like to see a better range of options (like some porridge etc) and more juices. the meals are good portions and the food is fresh but it's a bit bland and unimaginative. the eggs i had were flavourless and runny and the toast was inedible as it was cooked to the point of being a crostini. service is friendly, nice interior, good to see the healthy trend moving into canberra. i'll be back to try other things.

the green beakky plate was excellent and a really good proportion for breakfast. the lemon and orange juice was a nice change the staple orange juice.
really liked the atmosphere of the place. it is really difficult to find a spot so be early if you're going in a large group.
