good food and service. had lunch there today, constant line up the entire time we were there. seems like they're usually pretty busy. great service, friendly staff that work there. the crepe with the swiss cheese, mushroom & spinach was delicious. my husband had the grilled chicken baguette, the bun was rock hard, however the stuff inside were delicious.goodplace for a quick casual lunch.

la boulangerie is just so good.
it’s a great cozy atmosphere that surrounds you with busy workers and beautiful pastries.
every time i go, the service is quick and wonderful, you’re ordering and sitting down to relax within 3 minutes. the coffee is fresh and aromatic, and if you’re feeling something sweet, the nutella latte is incredible.
the crepes seem a little expensive but as soon it gets to your table you can tell they’re worth it. great flavours, goodsize, totally worth it.
if you’re in mission and are feeling like a cute cafe to chill in, la boulangerie is the way to go.

it's a little bakery/cafe in mission right next to wurst.

pro: variety of menu
con: pastries

i was hoping i can find another bakery that servesgoodquality croissant, their croissant was just ok. it wasn't something i like such as light and airy layer inside, buttery and almost crunchy outside. their croissant wasn't buttery enough for me and a little bit dense side. it is just my preference and i'm pretty picky so i'd like to hear from other people about it!

also, i tried eclair as well. it was also ok. nothing spectacular, but decent.

i had their crepe too. it's also just ok. i paid extra for whip cream but it was one of those spray can cream. i can't believe they serve that quality cream even though they do make pastries(or maybe they don't make cream from scratch??). i know they use can because they forgot to put whip cream on mine and i brought my plate to them to get cream after. this kind of cream is only acceptable at stampede, not a cute little cafe like here, disappointing.

however, there are menus that i haven't try, they have soup, stew, other bread, etc. i do think the range of menu is reallygoodtheir, if you like their baking it's agoodplace to come hang out. except, there are very omitted space to sit, the distance between table to aisle is very narrow. if you don't mind people always passing by, the cafe itself is cute!

overall, i'd chose side walk citizens for croissant, i'd chose shuzette bistro for crepe. i don't mind to come back for menu i haven't tried, but i wouldn't repeat things i already had.

kicking off the 2017 travel schedule in alberta, games at arenas #26 and #27 of the nhl bucket list on the agenda, saturday morning was off to an early start at la boulangerie bakery café in calgary, a spot that once the 8-day trip was finished still stood out for some items worth seeking out including a flawless savory croissant and world-class canele.

located at 2435 4 street sw and open at 6:30am every day but monday, much like the best of france, la boulangerie bakery café brings european craftsmanship and work-ethic to western canada with a collection of pastries, tarts and viennoiserie that is far too vast to be explored in one visit, a total of eight items ranging fromgoodto excellent only scratching the surface of what i’d like to have tasted.

surprisingly busy given the cold weather and early hour, at least two-dozen patrons passing through or sitting down to enjoy during my short stay, service was smiling and helpful while seats were close-packed yet comfy, a small two-top near the door almost overloaded by a collection from which the mozzarella and sesame croissant was sampled first – laminated layers shattering to the tooth just as they would in the cream and almond-filled versions later, but giving way to a gooey, cheese-lacquered center that melded perfectly with toasty sesame notes and plenty of butter.

admittedly not wowed by the almond croissant, thankfully not marred by frangipane but also a bit too stingy with ground almonds, expectations were met by a kouign amann awash with butter and a crackling sugar bottom, the canele going one step further and surpassing almost any outside of europe in terms of crispiness overlying custard, even if the outside lacked the traditional deep-brown polish.

setting aside the cinnamon roll, underflavored though well laminated like the rest, better bites were found amidst the sliced croissant that stood up well the cream filling, the same to be said of crisp choux surrounding the naturally flavored pistachio filling of a lengthy éclair while both the caramel tart and self-proclaimed “best brownie in calgary” were well constructed with nuts helping to temper their sweetness.

while i do enjoy coming here. if it's any time after lunch, the bread they use for baguette sandwiches is basically just rock hard and so hard to eat. the crepes aregoodbut i always found the pastries lacking flavour and sometimes don't taste too fresh.

la boulangerie is conveniently located -a blow away from my place- and offers agoodselection of pastries. i am less of a fan of their bread, and find it is a tad expensive (for the quality that is).
it may just be my french opinion (as every i know likes the place), but in the end, i'd rather walk a couple blocks more and go to yann's. la boulangerie is my backup plan.

i like this place. their filo pastries with mushrooms and goat cheese are to die for. their crepes come in various flavours and ingredients to satisfy a sweet tooth or soothe a savoury craving. i'm not impressed by the flimsy paper plates they serve you on. their pastries are good, with unique looking round cakes available to buy, agoodalternative to the usual suspect bakery products.

disposable plates & plastic forks and knives. i went to this place with my boyfriend and was quite disappointed. we ordered vegetarian crepes. the crepe itself was good, but the filling was very poor. few slices of mozzarella cheese and and 2 slices of tomatoes with one basil leaf inside. to my taste very dry without any creaminess to it.
on top of that, it was all served on disposable plates with plastic knives and forks. to me, it's a big no - no for a place that tries to promote its french vibe. not only that it isn't eco-friendly, it leaves a very cheap impression on me. i also bought their baguette which i can say wasgoodcompared to one you find at regular stores.
overall impression, overpriced for what you get, packed with little space to even move your hands/arms while eating your order.

my favorite place for sunday mornings. when i lived in calgary, i use to go here most sunday mornings. the pastries and coffee are delicious. the crepes are usuallygoodtoo, however they can sometimes be disappointing. i think it all depends of who's working that are making them. the last time i was in town visiting, i made sure to make a visit for agoodcoffee and a delicious crepe, however this time the experience wasn't all that friendly. i found the girl that was taking my order didn't have the time of day to take my order. it was simple: coffee, crepe and eclair. i was disappointed with the service and how i was being treated. i don't expect much, but a smile now and then is nice.

fair. lemon tart, crepes, baguette sandwich, coffee galore - i have come to the cafe countless times. they bake fresh bread almost daily and use no preservatives. their sourdough bread is quite tasty. the crepes are absolutely delightful and worth the wait. the lemon tart, my goodness, if you can enjoy to be carefree about your caloric intake in a day then by all means each person needs to indulge at least once. the cafe is the only other cafe on 4th that serves illy brand coffee from italy. in all honesty each restaurant gets they're usual hour rush, it just depends on when you come in. i love reading inexperienced reviews stating i will not come back anymore after only one visit. to be fair and objective you have to take into account the humanity of each business. ever tried to watch a movie on a friday night with everyone else trying to get in (in all honesty, goodluck). unfortunately i feel sorry to the mouths raised on soft fastfood style burgers. you just won't be able to enjoy the french styled baguette. they are absolutely different from the usual soft chewy reprocessed burgers. it's just not the same, so i recommend those to stick to american fast food. there is a mix of reviewers on urbanspoon. some with class. and some notably without. enjoy!

best bakery in town. lots of people said it's not thatgoodif you have tasted "manuel latruwe" before. so i tried both in the same week.
i am in calgary since a year, the rest of my life has been spent in france. let me tell you about bakeries...
yes there are some downsides (staff not super friendly, till far from the entrance) but this is it, the croissant and the baguette (staples for me) are authentic. asgoodas in my country.
i would more than likely be hanging around on their patio with my café au lait this summer.
