good food and service. had lunch there today, constant line up the entire time we were there. seems like they're usually pretty busy. great service, friendly staff that work there. thecrepewith the swiss cheese, mushroom & spinach was delicious. my husband had the grilled chicken baguette, the bun was rock hard, however the stuff inside were delicious. good place for a quick casual lunch.

it's a little bakery/cafe in mission right next to wurst.

pro: variety of menu
con: pastries

i was hoping i can find another bakery that serves good quality croissant, their croissant was just ok. it wasn't something i like such as light and airy layer inside, buttery and almost crunchy outside. their croissant wasn't buttery enough for me and a little bit dense side. it is just my preference and i'm pretty picky so i'd like to hear from other people about it!

also, i tried eclair as well. it was also ok. nothing spectacular, but decent.

i had theircrepetoo. it's also just ok. i paid extra for whip cream but it was one of those spray can cream. i can't believe they serve that quality cream even though they do make pastries(or maybe they don't make cream from scratch??). i know they use can because they forgot to put whip cream on mine and i brought my plate to them to get cream after. this kind of cream is only acceptable at stampede, not a cute little cafe like here, disappointing.

however, there are menus that i haven't try, they have soup, stew, other bread, etc. i do think the range of menu is really good their, if you like their baking it's a good place to come hang out. except, there are very omitted space to sit, the distance between table to aisle is very narrow. if you don't mind people always passing by, the cafe itself is cute!

overall, i'd chose side walk citizens for croissant, i'd chose shuzette bistro for crepe. i don't mind to come back for menu i haven't tried, but i wouldn't repeat things i already had.

i met my sister here for brunch this past weekend. the place is just a few blocks from my home so i had been looking forward to finally checking it out and was excited to give it a try. unfortunately, it was one of the worst first impressions i've had from a local eatery. we ordered two lattes, one for each of us. at the same time, my sister ordered a dessertcrepefor herself and an omelette for me. after placing our order, we waited about 10 minutes before asking the staff where our lattes were. apparently they had not been made yet.

a few moments later, a discombobulated staff member with a "trainee" badge brought us the two lattes and our dishes. my latte was served in a sticky cup and my omelette on a plate that was slightly messy and appeared as though it may have been previously used for something else and not cleaned. i didn't feel it was enough to complain about but in retrospect i probably should have. my sister asked if hercrepecould be served with a garnish of whip creme (since thecrepelooked rather boring on the plate to begin with) a request which the server did not seem to fully understand. she took the plate back and while leaning over it at the counter, fussed for several minutes with a canister of creme and returned with thecrepesmothered in a pool of  runny , liquefied  creme ( from the bottom of the creme canister, i'm guessing). my sister had to ask her to take it back a second time because it was so ridiculously ugly.

it honestly felt like we were being filmed for a punk'd show or something. in contrast to the bizarre service and shocking neglect of basic hygiene practices, my omelette was good. the latte, however, was mediocre. very cute parisienne  atmosphere on the bright side but i sadly struggle with the idea of returning there  ever again.

disposable plates & plastic forks and knives. i went to this place with my boyfriend and was quite disappointed. we ordered vegetarian crepes. thecrepeitself was good, but the filling was very poor. few slices of mozzarella cheese and and 2 slices of tomatoes with one basil leaf inside. to my taste very dry without any creaminess to it.
on top of that, it was all served on disposable plates with plastic knives and forks. to me, it's a big no - no for a place that tries to promote its french vibe. not only that it isn't eco-friendly, it leaves a very cheap impression on me. i also bought their baguette which i can say was good compared to one you find at regular stores.
overall impression, overpriced for what you get, packed with little space to even move your hands/arms while eating your order.

my favorite place for sunday mornings. when i lived in calgary, i use to go here most sunday mornings. the pastries and coffee are delicious. the crepes are usually good too, however they can sometimes be disappointing. i think it all depends of who's working that are making them. the last time i was in town visiting, i made sure to make a visit for a good coffee and a delicious crepe, however this time the experience wasn't all that friendly. i found the girl that was taking my order didn't have the time of day to take my order. it was simple: coffee, crepeand eclair. i was disappointed with the service and how i was being treated. i don't expect much, but a smile now and then is nice.

this is a phenomenal bakery. classic french everything: pastries, cookies, crepes, sandwiches, soups, etc.. the staff is very nice and the owner is extremely friendly and always remembers you. if you are in the mood for something sweet i highly recommend the nut-filled brownie, which is almost like a small cake. every sandwich andcrepei've had here has been incredible and this has been by go-to bakery for the past 2 years if i need to pick food up for a special occasion. you won't regret trying this wonderful bakery.

eh?. my friend and i were strolling through 4th trying to explore places we've never been to before. she had mentioned she wanted to try this place earlier in the day, so we went inside.
very cute little place, a little confusing trying to place an order, but the fault was my own since i was hung over ad my brain had not been functioning well.

we had both ordered the brie and peppers sandwich, this was especially exciting to her since vegetarian options never sound enticing. we were told unfortunately they were out of bread but could turn it into a crepe, which sounded amazing to me since i haven't had acrepein years.

so we wait at a table outside enjoying the scenery, listening to chatter and little dogs barking. our food arrived swiftly and we excitedly dug in. to be honest, i was disappointed, it was good... but i felt as if the texture of thecrepedidn't do it justice, bread would have been so much nicer! the peppers where great, they did not skimp on the brie at all! the only missing ingredient was the bread.

for my next visit, i will come earlier in the day before they run out of bread and get that sandwich again! i need to have it in it's true form before i can truly have an opinion on this restaurant.
i know it will be much better!
...
update:
i have returned and ordered a mocha and the brie and pepper croissant sandwich.

the mocha was absolutely amazing. probably my new favorite, but the sandwich was just not right.

evening about it sounded amazing, but when i actually consumed the sandwich, i reneged my decision.

i felt like this should be a warm sandwich, would have worked better.
i love brie, but this was just too much. maybe camembert might have worked better.
there was an overload of arugula, arugula has a strong distinctive flavour that over powered everything.
and there was hardly any pepper.

on the bright side, the croissant itself was superb...
but i will not wait 15 mins for a cold 8$ sandwich.

tepid coffee, lacklustre crepe. passed by this place excitedly one day and noted it down for a future visit. but when i returned with a hungry belly i wasn't too impressed. the coffee i ordered was mediocre. thecrepewas alright, but nothing extraodinary. the service was pretty fast but not the friendliest.

it is a shame, and maybe just an isolated incident, because this shop has such potential. the pastry fridge looked full of delicious goodies--maybe i made the wrong food choice. but unless i was passing by i wouldn't go out of my way to give it a second chance.
