we have been waiting and waiting to visit koi....

and it was soooo totally worth it! wow and wow again!!

the food was awesome!! theserviceabove average with a very personal touch. thank you theo.

will definitely be back 😀😀

after an evening spent at the capital hotel we had breakfast at koi. you can also order roomservicefrom koi as the hotel doesn't have their own kitchen and work in conjunction with koi. the decor is that of pastel colours with oriental flair. the breakfast is set up buffet style with a variety of options. we ordered poached eggs and they were cooked well, with fresh croissants and salmon. i had a red cappuccino and my fiancé just had orange juice. we also had fresh fruit and yogurt. the staff are friendly and the manager is very hands on.

modern scandinavia decor and an open space makes this restaurant feel breezy. it is situated on the menlyn maine square, so you can get some fresh air, but are still in the shade. we ordered tapas including sea bass ceviche, waghu sliders 🍔 and 🍣. it was all delicious but the ⭐️ of the show was the ceviche. absolutely incredible. theservicetoo was top notch, our waiter, stalin, is a true professional.

brendan linder and i had a lovely lunch here one sunday afternoon and the food for the most part was spectacular and fresh. the music created a vibrant atmosphere and made for an afternoon well spent. the tempura prawns and my sushi platter was sensational. the pad thai noodles were flavourless and require much improvement. the deep fried dim sum were also memorable. theservicewas slow , but due to them opening recently that was expected. i look forward to coming back ☺️

cockroaches!!! ... now that i have your attention... koi at menlyn maine literally had cockroaches everywhere! we wanted to enjoy a lovely dinner but unfortunately did not happen. we initially received terribleservicefrom one of the waiters and then when we finally got our food after waiting 45 minutes with nobody checking on us, we got our food with a side of cockroaches. we asked them what was going on and they said they had recently fumigated ... if that’s true then why are you open? koi is a health hazard, i don’t care how good people say the food is, unless you enjoy eating cockroaches (which is literally fine) then go to koi menlyn maine, if not, then don’t go. have a blessed evening. goodbye

also, we unfortunately couldn’t take pictures of the cockroaches because they were running around the table at speeds faster than usain bolt so...

the food is delicious. small bowls to share where you can taste a couple of dishes. best sushi in pretoria. nice vibe andservicewas really good.

what a great experience.. first time visiting koi and i just want to go back for more. incredibly tasty sushi, their salmon sashimi and their tempura prawns is the best ive ever had. this softness of the salmon shows the freshness and great quality. the tempura prawns were crunchy on the outside and soft inside, being a well portioned size also. the ambience a d interior is modern but comfortable and relaxing.
theservicewas fantastic and the knowledge of our waiter was great, with him advising on some of his favourites

i had dinner there on friday evening... theservicethere is appalling. i was quite disappointed as i loved the koi that used to be at lynnwood bridge.

i had the most delicious meal here. wow. i am a sucker for udon noodles, and these were thebombdotcom! so fresh... almost seemed a bit thicker than normal. i built a bowl - udon noodles, indonesian sauce and chicken. my sister had the ribeye, delicious! great presentation. and their vegetables (side dish) were also delicious... unfortunately, theservicewas okay, then bad. we asked for a second bottle of water - it never arrived - and the waiter had the audacity to say... " dont worry, the second bottle of water isn't on the bill " . wtf???

the food is great, but theserviceis quite dismal. at least koi has a good reputation, otherwise this restaurant would not survive.
still waiting for the beers we ordered on monday evening.

can’t believe i paid r118.00 for 4 sad looking,bite size tacos. i could literally count the number of people in the restaurant on one hand but theservicewas sloooow!
so sad because the franchise in sandton is great.

i had lunch with a client today in menlyn. i’ve been to every restaurant in menlyn maine besides this one. the place is huge and has a nice atmosphere. if you can sit on the deck upstairs overlooking the pool.serviceis good. not great but good. i ordered sushi and it is probably some of the best sushi around. it is a bit pricey but definitely worth it. the place was very empty and i the only concerns i had was the drinks we ordered.

we were a very large party that went to koi for a birthday celebration. the restaurant split the large table between two waiters and theservicewas still absolutely pathetic. we waited for more than an hour before being able to order drinks, everytime we called the waiter he managed to mysteriously disappear, the food arrived in drips and drabs and it is completely overpriced. i won't even spend someone else's money there. management was nowhere to be seen. i think it is quite simple: if your waitstaff are not able to handle large parties like we were, don't accept bookings for such large parties. i will not be returning.
