modern scandinavia decor and an open space makes this restaurant feel breezy. it is situated on themenlynmaine square, so you can get some fresh air, but are still in the shade. we ordered tapas including sea bass ceviche, waghu sliders 🍔 and 🍣. it was all delicious but the ⭐️ of the show was the ceviche. absolutely incredible. the service too was top notch, our waiter, stalin, is a true professional.

cockroaches!!! ... now that i have your attention... koi atmenlynmaine literally had cockroaches everywhere! we wanted to enjoy a lovely dinner but unfortunately did not happen. we initially received terrible service from one of the waiters and then when we finally got our food after waiting 45 minutes with nobody checking on us, we got our food with a side of cockroaches. we asked them what was going on and they said they had recently fumigated ... if that’s true then why are you open? koi is a health hazard, i don’t care how good people say the food is, unless you enjoy eating cockroaches (which is literally fine) then go to koimenlynmaine, if not, then don’t go. have a blessed evening. goodbye

also, we unfortunately couldn’t take pictures of the cockroaches because they were running around the table at speeds faster than usain bolt so...

i have never had a bad experience at koimenlynmaine! the staff are always friendly and professional, the food divine (best miso soup i’ve ever tasted in sa), great selection of wines and champagnes and more-ish deserts.

one of the best places to grab dim sum and any great asian cuisine. my boyfriend and i often come to this restaurant and have not been disappointed as of yet. the decor is lovely and there is the option of sitting on the roof deck looking over the square of restaurants inmenlynmaine.

i had lunch with a client today in menlyn. i’ve been to every restaurant inmenlynmaine besides this one. the place is huge and has a nice atmosphere. if you can sit on the deck upstairs overlooking the pool. service is good. not great but good. i ordered sushi and it is probably some of the best sushi around. it is a bit pricey but definitely worth it. the place was very empty and i the only concerns i had was the drinks we ordered.

so last saturday afternoon me and my gf went to this "prestige" restaurant as we had concert tickets. for the prices they charge and the location they occupy inmenlynmain one would expect a decent meal right? i ordered the lamb chops with egg fried rice and she ordered two sliders. we told the waiter we had concert tickets. 55 min and two beers later two plates arrived with our food. my lamb chops consisted of 20% meat and 80% fat. the egg fried rice was rock hard and looked like it was sc****d from the bottom of a pot. now the kicker...how the hell do you ***** up mince? when we received the sliders (two very small hamburgers) the blood was still coming out of the mince. we called the waiter and pointed this out to him. he took the plate back and returned with the two sliders. meat was cooked but the bread was so hard that when my gf cut it half of it left the plate. this leads me to believe that they just popped the whole thing in the microwave hence the bread rocks.since we were already running out of time and we being hungry we hastily ate and paid our bill. the manager did not even come to apologise or offer any kind of help. this was the first and last time i ever went to this restaurant. i could have made much better burgers at my house. thanks for nothing.

my friends and i visited koi on a tuesday so it was relatively quiet. the newmenlynmaine branch maintains that simple elegant design of koi. i was disappointed to find that their renowned seared tuna was out of stock. exasperated i stuck to their dim sum part of the menu. the most memorable part of our meal was the way in which the teas were served.

koi! i love koi. you can never go wrong with koi. the food, wine, service, management is great. always. i preferred the koi at lynnwood bridge, but, the new koi inmenlynmaine is growing on me, it is much bigger, but still beautiful. i highly recommend koi for a lovely evening out.

visited koi atmenlynmaine last friday with family from cape town, amongst all the hype it was short-lived! the food took ages to arrive, and came in portions so whilst two ate the other two awaited their meal. the food was good but for the wait anything was going to go down. the baby chicken however was a three part fillet??? i wanted to visit the ladies ablution facilities and was directed to the one at the capital hotel only to be told by the guard that i cannot use it. 15 minutes later i watched another lady get up and head in that direction and was not turned away. i informed the gentleman whom came to our table to enquire about the food and he returned with no feedback to me. even waiting for the bill was a long process. the restaurant was fairly quiet so i am not sure what the issue was. will definitely not be going back there again. very disappointed.

finally the new koi atmenlynmaine is open! i missed them. great dim sum and a nice new green papaya salad. many new things on the menu. food was great but they've become even more expensive. almost put off by the prices. simple lunch of shared dim sum, salad and water came to r460 with a tip
