we have been waiting and waiting to visit koi....

and it was soooo totally worth it! wow and wow again!!

thefoodwas awesome!! the service above average with a very personal touch. thank you theo.

we were really looking forward to the opening of koi! and it certainly didn't disappoint! thefoodwas excellent! dim sum, sushi fresh and tasty as can be with the best range of dipping sauces! our waiter could have been more attentive, and they are still waiting for there liquor license but a great spot for a tasty meal.

was really looking forward to dinning at koi, and it went beyond our expectations, theirfoodis well prepared in some different class, nice deserts, mains and starters with different tea choices.. i'm really coming back again, we felt welcomed and very appreciated.. loved everything about it

shocking service! called for the manger twice and he didn't bother coming. my side salad came after i was done with my fish (and i'm a slow eater). foodwas average too!

brendan linder and i had a lovely lunch here one sunday afternoon and thefoodfor the most part was spectacular and fresh. the music created a vibrant atmosphere and made for an afternoon well spent. the tempura prawns and my sushi platter was sensational. the pad thai noodles were flavourless and require much improvement. the deep fried dim sum were also memorable. the service was slow , but due to them opening recently that was expected. i look forward to coming back ☺️

cockroaches!!! ... now that i have your attention... koi at menlyn maine literally had cockroaches everywhere! we wanted to enjoy a lovely dinner but unfortunately did not happen. we initially received terrible service from one of the waiters and then when we finally got ourfoodafter waiting 45 minutes with nobody checking on us, we got ourfoodwith a side of cockroaches. we asked them what was going on and they said they had recently fumigated ... if that’s true then why are you open? koi is a health hazard, i don’t care how good people say thefoodis, unless you enjoy eating cockroaches (which is literally fine) then go to koi menlyn maine, if not, then don’t go. have a blessed evening. goodbye

also, we unfortunately couldn’t take pictures of the cockroaches because they were running around the table at speeds faster than usain bolt so...

i had been meaning to visit koi for some time, and i had, in the meantime, done my research with regards to their menu as well as other reviews - and i must say it lived up to the hype. except for the lengthy wait for the food, thefooditself was exceptional. tried out three of their speciality sushi, the soft shell crab as well as the korean bbq wings, and i must say every singlefooditem was lip smacking! can’t wait to go back😍

thefoodis delicious. small bowls to share where you can taste a couple of dishes. best sushi in pretoria. nice vibe and service was really good.

thefoodwas a great, it was a taste experience. flavours i've never had before, though i would say for a full meal i'd say r350 pp. so be prepared to spend more for artisanal food.

the only reason i’m not giving this establishment a five star rating is because of our absent minded waiter, we had a hard time getting his attention even though the place was fairly empty for a saturday afternoon. now that that’s out of the way, thefoodwas delicious i had the chicken and calamari salad which was so fresh and delicious. they make really refreshing cocktails. a must try

i have never had a bad experience at koi menlyn maine! the staff are always friendly and professional, thefooddivine (best miso soup i’ve ever tasted in sa), great selection of wines and champagnes and more-ish deserts.

so decided on a chilly winter’s evening to have dinner at koi. we received a very warm welcome from the host. the staff were so friendly and pleasant. although the restaurant is big, the ambiance was quite warm and romantic with soft lighting. fresh and contemporary decor! loved the fact that the drinks andfoodmenu was so extensive! so we tried some japanese beers which were refreshing and quite different. they have a few to choose from! for starters... we ordered different items off the menu, like dim sum, money-pockets, etc. and for mains sushi. thefoodwas very tasty and delicious, some of the best i’ve tasted. the flavors and freshness were spot on. for dessert 🍮 probably one of the best and tastiest puddings i have ever had, it was pina colada type meringue. will definitely return to try more things on the menu!

make no mistake....the restaurant is beautiful and servers friendly but i found thefoodaverage and really, very overpriced. i don't believe this is a value for money option. we had the steamed bao... the buns were good but the filling was ice cold. not somewhere i would visit again.

thefoodis great, but the service is quite dismal. at least koi has a good reputation, otherwise this restaurant would not survive.
still waiting for the beers we ordered on monday evening.
