juan's del fuego no more. this egg and hash cafe started with a great concept and original food, but they keep cuting food quality and freshness to save $$! the food has become average fare, the service is pretty bad, and the attitude is "don't care".

the good: unusual mexi breakfast egg dishes, good breakfast potatoes.
the bad: slow and inexperienced service, little hot sauce selection, cut use of avocados to almost gone in dishes that have them, no fresh veggies or fruit (no salad, no berries, no fruit), poor selection, average boring atmosphere.

for an average mexi breakfast juan's is fine. but if you ask for anything extra they will charge you big time, service is slow and non service oriented, food variety is not very healthy with no veggies or fruit for breakfast. the few exciting additions to their food have been cut back or eliminated since they opened. i give it 2.5 stars of 5 star review.

tasty mexican breakfast option fused with more traditional items. the wait can be long, but it's worth it. breakfast burrito, egg white omelet, or biscuits & gravy are all solid choices

most interesting place to eat breakfast in norman. if you're visiting the area it's a must stop. a selection of spicy mexican breakfast dishes. i've had the chorito and also papas con chorizo; i'd recommend either one. i understand they also serve a quality traditional american breakfast. my son has had the blueberry pancakes and is a fan. watch out as they come sweet, not much syrup is needed. i haven't had any of the lunch items, but i'd expect they're equally as good. you can also order the breakfast/brunch items through closing at 2pm as i understand it. the exterior and interior are modern and clean; a cafe style spot. my family will be eating here often.

we discovered this place last saturday morning. we had no idea that such a fantastic breakfast cafe was available here in norman. its a far cry from the run of the mill breakfast fare. go and try it out and feel your taste buds tingle and your morning say howdy! it great!!! and prices are reasonable and the coffee is good along with great service

incredible food. so so service. first off it was a cold holiday morning, so they were very busy. after standing unnoticed at the front waiting to be seated for over five minutes, i seated myself at the bar. it took another 10 minutes or so for one of the waitstaff to acknowledge me. she quickly dropped a menu with no greetings. i ordered a black coffee (very fresh) and a tamale and eggs plate at the recommendation of a friend. it did not disappoint. the potatoes (i think they called them fuego fries) were not bad, but average. they are basicly pan fries. the tamales and eggs were so good that i would suffer through the mediocre service again to have them. who knows, maybe it was just an off day due to my timing.

i have been hearing for a year or two about juan del fuego. everything i have heard has all been good. this place is only open for breakfast and lunch, so i haven’t been able to go since my normal going out to eat time has been supper. today i didn’t have to work and i needed to run errands in norman, and when i got hungry i decided to stop in and try it.

first of all it is a bit hard to find. it isn’t on one of the main streets, it is in a little strip center just south of main and just west of ed noble parkway behind the burger king and eyemart express. it took me a minute to find it, but i am glad i did.

i walked in, and the restaurant was packed. there was only one table and some seats at the counter left. when given the choice i opted to sit at the counter, i didn’t want to take up a 4 top on a full day. i looked at the menu and decided to get an enchirito vegetarino and an iced tea. there weren’t many choices for vegetarians, there were a few and this one seemed like the best one where they can take out the cheese without much issue.

best breakfast in norman. love the food and seriously the tamale breakfast is the best thing on the menu. service is slow and sometimes grumpy but doesn't stop me from going back time and time again.
