one last touchdown!. i'll be honest, the onlytimei was ever in here was to have a beer on a summer afternoon. but, i loved the atmosphere! great steelers sportsbar theme and had a nice outdoor patio/eating area by the river walk. i don't think i would enjoy grille 36 as much after football games because it gets so packed and noisy. however, i am eager to go back and try some food.

terrible menu. my husband and i recently stopped here on a thursday night. i have not been in a longtimeexcept to grab a beer before a steeler game last year, when it was packed. one of the four hostesses standing at the desk recommended the bar area, we accepted until we realized there were tvs in the dinning room as well. i wanted a beer and i was told by the server that they had 36 on tap, but no list to offer, just asked me what i like. i understand that they probably change a few of them, but maybe have a base list and a seasonal list.
the menu was sad to say the least, the descriptions of the food were awful, we sat staring at the menu for a while before ordering a steak salad and a burger. i was especially disgusted by the "chef specialties" one of them was actually called "the garbage plate". i get that it is a sports bar, but the atmosphere suggests that they would have a decent menu. we were the only ones in our dinning room, there was a large party in the next room. our food came out rather fast, but my husbands burger was burnt on one side and my salad had a bunch of chunks of meat on it. it was tasty but i had to do a lot of cutting, before being able to eat it.
the service was good, and i have to mention that the staff was attractive, and it seemed like a clean place, except for the boxes of straws and other supplies all over the counter, next to us, ironically on top of a bunch of cabinets.
not somewhere i would go back to, and i will definitely not be recommending to clients visiting pittsburgh, not the impression i would want to give them of our great city!
they could use a visit from chef ramsey!

very happy. our server, felicia, was really friendly and helped me and my friends decide what we wanted to eat. this was my firsttimethere and i was very happy with the food and service.

my friends and i came in on steeler sunday after the game and we had an amazing server named steven. it seemed as if the place was really really busy but steven made us feel like we were his only table. he took thetimeto explain the drink menu... i had the irish on vacation per stevens recommendation and it was to die for. the steak salad was awesome too. i highly recommend this and if steven is there i highly recommend him. he's super friendly, knowledgeable and goes the extra mile... :-) we will be back to see steven!!

disappointing. bun was cold. fries were cold. cake was cold. grilled vegetables were awful - served with a dill pickle?? nothing good to say about four different lunches. even the coffe was awful. windows were dirty. don't east yourtimeor money!

another amazing experience!. i stopped into the bettis grill with my husband to grab some dinner before the alice cooper concert last night. our server, austin, actually took care of us the lasttimewe were here and were seated at the bar. once again he was a delight! after suggesting a few interesting local beers, we enjoyed his suggestion of the edamame as an appatizer. it was excellent, and a large portion for the price. the remainder of our meal was equally pleasant, and complimented with the superb service and great location, there isn't another place we'll go before an event on the north shore!
thanks for never disappointing us with the food, atmosphere, and service! we will definitely be back!

i loved it! went there last weekend with my husband for the firsttimeand it was great! our waitress was new but very helpful and convinced my husband to try the gridiron steak. he loved it! there was a concert going on across the street and it was busy but everyone was helpful and the food was delicious. can't wait to come back!

had a great time!. so my family and i drove to pittsburgh to watch the steelers vs bengals game since it was blacked out in our viewing area. after some searching and talking to the concierge at the wyndham we decided to head over to grille 36. we were a little apprehensive because of some of the reviews, but wanted to give our oldest a chance to see the stadium up close.

we had the besttimeand will be going back (despite the 5 hour drive) sooner the later. our party of 5 was made up of 4 steelers fans and 1 bengals fan (and 3 of the 5 were children ranging from toddler to teen). the atmosphere and the staff were great. they had a fantasy football game and gave out bracelets to the kids. sure everyone picked on my poor bengals fan husband, but it was all fun and goodnatured and he wasn't the only bengals fan in the building. he even remarked how cool everyone had been once we'd left.

as far as the food goes the best i can come up with as far as a complaint is that the nachos were only so so and probably not worth the price. other than that we had 2 orders of the wings, dry with 3 different sauces (at our excellent servers suggestion), 2 orders of the fried pretzel sticks, the breakfast burger, the deep fried burger, the horseradish cheddar burger, the carrot cake and the chocolate, chocolate, chocolate cake. all were wonderful.

we were expecting the price to be on the expensive end, but despite all the food we had, plus drinks, including a tip we still priced out at under $200.

my introduction to the steelers was with the bus and he has always been my mothers favorite. when we left grille 36 i made sure to call her and tell her it was the greatest day ever!

really good food, much more reasonable than expected. went here on a saturday around 4 pm with a group of 4. there was no wait, and we got our food quickly. we ordered the pierogies and buffalo shrimp wontons for appetizers. the wontons were especially good. 2 in our party got the grid iron steak; there was zero fat on the steaks and they tasted great. one person got the buffalo chicken sandwich, and i had the greek chicken gnocchi. it was the first grilled chicken i've had in a longtimethat was cooked properly, i.e. was moist and juicy. the gnocchi were fluffy and not too dense, and the roasted fennel in the dish was yummy. when we got the tab, i was shocked that this dinner for 4, including beer for the guys, was just under $100. i felt like i was eating in a much pricier restaurant (if not for the multiple tvs on in the dining room).

a cool place with some issues.... i've been to bettis' many times, most recently a few days ago.
i've always enjoyed it. it's a cool bar with surprisingly good upscale spins on bar/comfort food. the usual downside to the place is if anything is going on at either stadium, the place is unbearably packed. but regardless of crowd, i've always had good meals with good service. my last trip bucked that trend, though. too bad i wasn't on urbanspoon before, or the good trips would have been chronicled.
since there was no game at pnc park, it was pretty slow, despite it being a friday night. we just grabbed a high-top by the bar. first off, the table was really sticky, and had a couple patches of scrape-able gunk.
the waitress quickly came over to take our drink order. i asked her what bourbons they have. she quickly responded, "oh, i don't know that." as if i'd asked her the atomic weight of cesium. no offer to find out...as far as she was concerned, the ball was back in my court. so i ordered a jim beam and asked for a menu.
we had just come from dinner elsewhere, so i only ordered a dessert...some chocolate mousse cookie thing. it was delivered to the table literally within 2 minutes of me placing the order. i'm all for prompt service, but when it comes that fast, it's harder for me to trick myself into believing it wasn't plated 4 hours ago.
and since she clearly just grabbed the plate out of the freezer, the dessert was rock-solid...not a trait i usually associate with mousse. i had a few bites, then let it thaw for 5 minutes or so. its flavor and texture was much better once it was a bit more mousse-like.
i think this is just a case of a poorly-trained waitress, and like i said, isn't representative of my usual experience at bettis'. her response to my bourbon question actually became a fun running joke for the rest of the evening, so i guess she earned her tip in a roundabout way.
i'm just surprised that the onetimei get bad service is the onlytimei've been there that it wasn't busy at all.

worse than bad.. this place is a national chain which uses former athlete's names to promote. i have been three times and each has been as mediocre as the first or worse.

the lasttimei was in the staff was having a meeting with an insurance consultant. i was able to hear about all the terrible accidents customers could have in the dining room.

never again. i first called to find out if you could make a reservation and was told they don't allow that by a very beotchy woman and then i asked if they could tell me what the waittimeis and again i got the same snooty tone and a do you need anything else in the same tone. like she was annoyed by the fact i called and had better things to do. when you represent a business on the phone you give an impression of that place and let me tell you, i wasn't impressed. however, my friends from out of town still wanted to go so i took them. i regret that. they got a taste of pittsburgh that they didn't like. the staff was still awful to us and it took forever to get our food and i could've made them better food at home. if you want to represent pittsburgh, it should be positive, not rudeness wrapped in arrogance and grilled by morons.

a moms birthday diner. i was just here on sunday with my family.my oldest son decided to take us to diner.since he did'nt want to miss his nfl ticket i should feel blessed.we had a great time.the food was good and service was outstanding!i came home and spoke off this experience on fb.only problem was all the excitement hearing the boys could knock on the door,by thetimewe were ready to he was taking a nap!and we were unable to stay anylonger! i realize that is no crime.it was such a great day for us all it was just a suprize when we were told he was now napping.so close and confident they would get to see him in person.the 2 boys walked around and enjoyed the place .and was certain they would probale get to get to see him.i just never thought to wate till after we ate he would take a nap there.however we never expected him to even be there.the experience of a mans place on a moms birthday especially the tour past the glass wall of the mens restrooms has brought many laughs when i tell it.i recamend this for farthers day.but it was moms bday.and not all woman might be so undestanding.

3 strikes...your out!. my wife and i have gone to bettis' three times, we should've stopped at one. tried to give the benefit of the doubt eachtimeand i'm sad to say this place stinks. the food was dry all three times. the lasttimewe went, four of us got burger platters. out of the four, the most fries anyone had on their plate was 13. no kidding, we all counted! us and our dinner friends have tried a great variety of food here. i can honestly say nothing was good. definately avoid bettis 36 grille!

i appreciate you taking thetimeto dine with us. however, we haven't had the deep fried meatloaf on our menu in well over six months. i don't know if you have us confused with another competitor or if this was an experience that was sometimeago.

recently we have won a few awards, "best sports bar in pittsburgh" and named the "2010 sports bar of the year." nightclub and bar magazine turned to restaurant and bar industry veterans to determine the best sports bar.

i encourage you and anyone else to come down and enjoy great food, great service and great beverage while enjoying all your sports action on one of our 43 hdtv's. feel free to come in and ask for me.
