jerome bettis' grille 36

i stopped in here with some friends prior to an event at stage ae nearby.  it was agreatexperience and i plan to come back when i have a chance.
at the time, they had a black and tan on tap.  i had three or four and kicked their keg, so the last one was complimentary.  
the group ordered the chips and queso for the table.  it was delicious: the chips and the salsa were both fresh.  i didn't really expect that in a sports bar.  the queso was sticky and flavorful.
we ordered some wings too.  half of them were buffalo style, and the other half were some variant of spicy barbecue.  i think it was called "black and gold barbecue" but i don't see that on the menu anymore.  maybe it was renamed.  anyway, the wings were great.  fried crispy, and not wimpy either.  buffalo was buffalo, but the other sauce was awesome and i planned on trying it again.

one last touchdown!. i'll be honest, the only time i was ever in here was to have a beer on a summer afternoon. but, i loved the atmosphere!greatsteelers sportsbar theme and had a nice outdoor patio/eating area by the river walk. i don't think i would enjoy grille 36 as much after football games because it gets so packed and noisy. however, i am eager to go back and try some food.

i can't believe i never reviewed this... i've been a fan since i first visited, since they have agreatselection of foods i like. i was very pleasantly surprised by the asian chicken salad. the chicken was perfectly prepared. i've also loved their mac & cheese and other dishes i've had in the past - it's close to both stadiums and stage ae - highly recommend eating there!

terrible menu. my husband and i recently stopped here on a thursday night. i have not been in a long time except to grab a beer before a steeler game last year, when it was packed. one of the four hostesses standing at the desk recommended the bar area, we accepted until we realized there were tvs in the dinning room as well. i wanted a beer and i was told by the server that they had 36 on tap, but no list to offer, just asked me what i like. i understand that they probably change a few of them, but maybe have a base list and a seasonal list.
the menu was sad to say the least, the descriptions of the food were awful, we sat staring at the menu for a while before ordering a steak salad and a burger. i was especially disgusted by the "chef specialties" one of them was actually called "the garbage plate". i get that it is a sports bar, but the atmosphere suggests that they would have a decent menu. we were the only ones in our dinning room, there was a large party in the next room. our food came out rather fast, but my husbands burger was burnt on one side and my salad had a bunch of chunks of meat on it. it was tasty but i had to do a lot of cutting, before being able to eat it.
the service was good, and i have to mention that the staff was attractive, and it seemed like a clean place, except for the boxes of straws and other supplies all over the counter, next to us, ironically on top of a bunch of cabinets.
not somewhere i would go back to, and i will definitely not be recommending to clients visiting pittsburgh, not the impression i would want to give them of ourgreatcity!
they could use a visit from chef ramsey!

average burgers huge nachos but lacking flavorgreatbeer selection which is a lot of places. too many good restaurants in pittsburgh to go back to grill 36 again!!

bartender needs etiquette refresher.greatatmosphere and fun setting. ate there solo for lunch mid-week and enjoyed a beer and chili. everything was fine until i was paying the bill. a bartender should not expect a 30% tip serving 2 items at bar. it's professional and proper to present someone's change. but other than that... i'll be back.

bettis grille 36. outstanding service and excellent food. handled our son's food allergy requests with no problem. wonderful waiter-chris- who was fun, courteous, attentive and madegreatdrink and food recommendations.

sub-par food, high prices,greatatmosphere. we have stopped here twice after biking. pros: they are nice to biking families,greatview of downtown pittsburgh,greatview of downtown pgh, nice waitstaff. cons: pretty terrible food and very high prices for what they offer. $11 for a reuben about as thick as a piece of paper in total with terrible, stale bread and chewy corned beef? $14 for a soggy fish for fish and chips? inspite of enjoying the view and the cold beer tremendously, we will not be back. it was throwing good money after bad.

awesome staff,greattimes!. we go to jerome bettis' grille 36 several times a month and yet to have a bad experience! no matter how busy the bar is, whether there is a home steelers or pitt panther game, a show going on at stage ae etc, we always get excellent service from the bartenders, especially kia and amanda! they are our most favorite bartenders in the city and we look forward to seeing them everytime we're there!

christine was super helpful making my daughters bachelorette party agreatevening! she took care of us like we were her best friends and made our evening so enjoyable

great time. was in pittspurgh for a college football game, and found bettis' grill. we had agreattime, and the food portions were large, to say the least. however, far and away, the best part of this sports bar was the staff. kia and missi were great, and ensured that all in our group had agreattime. tell them that the fans from tcu sent you.

much better experience than expected.greatfood agreatprice. this is a must visit.

pretty good. i gave the jerome bettis 36 grill a whirl tonight.... pretty good! i had high hopes for the appetizer (korean beef tacos) but in the past the restaurants always shred the beef. at 36 grill they are beef "tips" but they are the size of playing cards. so you get 1 or 2 huge chunks of sub par beef wrapped up in the tortilla and it makes it difficult to eat.... shred it and they may have a winner. i also got the burger, surprisingly cooked perfectly.... it was very good. again one element missing in my opinion, the 5 cent bulk white bread bun. get a fresh, prestale bun in there and that's agreatplace for a burger. good seasoned steak fries and the warm ones were really good! overall, 7 out of 10 stars.

another amazing experience!. i stopped into the bettis grill with my husband to grab some dinner before the alice cooper concert last night. our server, austin, actually took care of us the last time we were here and were seated at the bar. once again he was a delight! after suggesting a few interesting local beers, we enjoyed his suggestion of the edamame as an appatizer. it was excellent, and a large portion for the price. the remainder of our meal was equally pleasant, and complimented with the superb service andgreatlocation, there isn't another place we'll go before an event on the north shore!
thanks for never disappointing us with the food, atmosphere, and service! we will definitely be back!

had agreattime!. so my family and i drove to pittsburgh to watch the steelers vs bengals game since it was blacked out in our viewing area. after some searching and talking to the concierge at the wyndham we decided to head over to grille 36. we were a little apprehensive because of some of the reviews, but wanted to give our oldest a chance to see the stadium up close.

we had the best time and will be going back (despite the 5 hour drive) sooner the later. our party of 5 was made up of 4 steelers fans and 1 bengals fan (and 3 of the 5 were children ranging from toddler to teen). the atmosphere and the staff were great. they had a fantasy football game and gave out bracelets to the kids. sure everyone picked on my poor bengals fan husband, but it was all fun and goodnatured and he wasn't the only bengals fan in the building. he even remarked how cool everyone had been once we'd left.

as far as the food goes the best i can come up with as far as a complaint is that the nachos were only so so and probably not worth the price. other than that we had 2 orders of the wings, dry with 3 different sauces (at our excellent servers suggestion), 2 orders of the fried pretzel sticks, the breakfast burger, the deep fried burger, the horseradish cheddar burger, the carrot cake and the chocolate, chocolate, chocolate cake. all were wonderful.

we were expecting the price to be on the expensive end, but despite all the food we had, plus drinks, including a tip we still priced out at under $200.

my introduction to the steelers was with the bus and he has always been my mothers favorite. when we left grille 36 i made sure to call her and tell her it was the greatest day ever!
