jerome bettis' grille 36

jerome would be happy, mostly. the restaurant was not very busy on a friday afternoon, so i sat at the bar. the bartender, brie, was attending to several customers, but when she did finally reach me she was very polite and attentive. she asked for my first name and, to my surprise, addressed me by name the entire 30-45 minutes i was seated at the bar. whether this was her idea or the restaurant's, it was a nice touch.

the food came promptly...well, too promptly. i ordered a turkeyburgerand fries, and the food came out much quicker than i've ever been able to cook a turkey burger, which indicates that they already had some prepared or were in the process of preparing some when i ordered. nonetheless, the food tasted good. i'm sure there are more expensive items on the menu; however, based on the proximity to heinz field and the jerome bettis name, i was extremely surprised at how reasonably priced my meal was. plus, the quality and service were both very good.

one complaint: as a jerome bettis fan, i was highly disappointed that they did not have any 36 jerseys in stock.

i was pleased with everything about this place.  the location, the service and the food.  it was walking distance from everything.  my hotel was across the street from the baseball stadium pnc park, this restaurant was two blocks from there on the waterfront and the football stadium, heinz field was directly across from this restaurant.  i had the deep fried cheeseburger.  when it was delivered, it was not what i imagined, but it was soooo much better than anything i could have imagined.  the entire burger, bun and all are battered and deep fried.  thisburgeris half heaven and half heart attack at the same time, but you have to try it.  i also had the loaded mac and cheese instead of fries and that was a lot of food.  i could not finish the mac and cheese, but i certainly finished the burger.  service at the bar was great.  check out the men's room (men), i have never seen a restroom like this in my life.  i will not spoil it for you.

terrible menu. my husband and i recently stopped here on a thursday night. i have not been in a long time except to grab a beer before a steeler game last year, when it was packed. one of the four hostesses standing at the desk recommended the bar area, we accepted until we realized there were tvs in the dinning room as well. i wanted a beer and i was told by the server that they had 36 on tap, but no list to offer, just asked me what i like. i understand that they probably change a few of them, but maybe have a base list and a seasonal list.
the menu was sad to say the least, the descriptions of the food were awful, we sat staring at the menu for a while before ordering a steak salad and a burger. i was especially disgusted by the "chef specialties" one of them was actually called "the garbage plate". i get that it is a sports bar, but the atmosphere suggests that they would have a decent menu. we were the only ones in our dinning room, there was a large party in the next room. our food came out rather fast, but my husbandsburgerwas burnt on one side and my salad had a bunch of chunks of meat on it. it was tasty but i had to do a lot of cutting, before being able to eat it.
the service was good, and i have to mention that the staff was attractive, and it seemed like a clean place, except for the boxes of straws and other supplies all over the counter, next to us, ironically on top of a bunch of cabinets.
not somewhere i would go back to, and i will definitely not be recommending to clients visiting pittsburgh, not the impression i would want to give them of our great city!
they could use a visit from chef ramsey!

turkey burger. the turkeyburgertasted very good. would have been excellent if it was cooked slightly less. loved the toppings and lemon mayo. the fries that accompanied theburgerwere delicious unfortunately they only give you around six. service was very good. drinks are a little pricey. very nice outdoor seating area along the river.

fantastic sports bar. enjoyed lunch with my family. nice selection on kids menu - good portions. greatly enjoyed the shrimp tacos with cool lime sauce was killer.burgerof the day topped with buffalo shrimp another favorite. friendly and attentive staff. definitely planning another visit when i'm the area again. quite convenient after tour of heinz field

myburgerwas dry and over-cooked and my husband's grilled cheeseburgerwas tasteless. not sure how aburgercan have so many toppings and yet be so bland and impressive.

first experience. as a city native i wanted to show my newly relocated friend from new york some of the sports bar hotspots. location was cool free parking was definatly a plus. anyway atmosphere was nice, set in a closed restaraunt area. food was good, although a bit pricey, same goes for the drinks. thumbs up to the sausage & egg appitizer. my friend ordered the veggie burger, that fell apart in her hands, but the waitstaff was more than happy to replace it with and excellent turkeyburgerw/pepper jack. on a side note wtf? is up with the lights in the ladies room, i mean what the hell? i could barely see the hand infront of my face, when i asked one of the waitstaff, he explained to me that the lights were dimmed so that the male side of the bathroom wasn't in clear view. in my opinion still no excuse. aside from the bathroom fiasco i was really upset that the steelers got beat, other than that it was a good night, and i would gladly go back.

burger bust. took my family to the bus 36 tonight for dinner. the service was great, spinach dip was ok. when myburgerarrived, i was less than impressed! not one to complain, i just ate my obviously pre fab patty and tried not to notice it tasted like freezerburn. maybe i just expected a higher standard for the price. my sons flat iron steak was very good and perfectly cooked. props to the broil guy! if your going to serve burgers, try harder.

really nice. nice place, good food, good service.. a girl named toi served us with a desire to please.. we will return! the atmosphere was upbeat and pleasant. we had the deep friedburgerwhich seemed perfect! toi also let us sample a few different beers we would never buy but will now..
five stars!

service?. my boyfriend and i ate there 2 fridays ago, we were seated in one of the back rooms. we went to get a bite before attending an exhibit at the science center. we both got burgers, that were pretty good. unfortunately the kitchen didn't seem to read our waitresses hand writing so well as i ordered well done and got medium and my bf ordered medium and got burnt. i also had ordered a cheeseburgerthat came with out cheese... not a big issue as the waitress worked fast to correct the error, and did a good job in doing so. however, the blond manager on duty felt that her quick response wasn't enough and choose to berate the waitress for a good 5 minutes in front of us and other guests. i found that to be incredibly unprofessional. as a result i will likely not return as i have no interest in contributing further to that managers paycheck.

3 strikes...your out!. my wife and i have gone to bettis' three times, we should've stopped at one. tried to give the benefit of the doubt each time and i'm sad to say this place stinks. the food was dry all three times. the last time we went, four of us gotburgerplatters. out of the four, the most fries anyone had on their plate was 13. no kidding, we all counted! us and our dinner friends have tried a great variety of food here. i can honestly say nothing was good. definately avoid bettis 36 grille!

chill atmosphere great food try the italianburgerit's different but good

great pre-game meal. grille 36 was not packed, great atmosphere, and good service. the carolina-burger was huge and tasted great. the bbq bacon cheddarburgerwas chargrilled to perfection. the fries were really good. probably packed around steelers games; however, great for pirates pre-game.

skip the bettis burger!!!. ok, i have been to bars and restraunts all over this earth, and medium rare means medium rare not well done.

we were in a hurry for a concert so i swallowed this brick of aburgeranyway. the nachos and service were great but how can you screw up the essence of the meal and still serve it like nothing happened?

also, watch out for the dimly lit bathrooms, a little dark for this guy!!!

scale 1 to 10. i rate it a 2, service was poor, the one pound betttisburgeris more like a mc'donalds 1/8 poundburgerwheres the beef, it also came with 6 fries what a joke
my wife and son stakes was also small and cold, all in all its a over priced fast food in there case slow food poor service restaurant
