cant beat it!. we are bbq fans.. try it all across the country and i would put jack stackribsup against almost anywhere! this weekend we enjoyed yet another fantastic meal. we started with the must have burnt ends... which you could easily make a meal of but dont fill up just yet!
hubby ordered the combo ribs- pork and lamb and of course they almost fall off the bones. they have a perfect smoke ring and a light crispiness that makes them top notch!
i had the combo with porkribsand bbq chicken. both were spiced with their signature rub and then topped lightly with sauce. wayyyyy too much food but its hard to stop yourself! side dishes that also must be tried are the bbq beans which are cooked with the meats and oooze with meaty flavor and chunks of brisket, and the cheesy corn bake which we never had until we ate at jack stack.
if you are picking one place to eat bbq, choose jack stack!

i love jack stack. i'm from texas and at first i was skeptical that kc bbq could be as good or better. i feel like i'm not allowed to say this but it's way better than anything i've had in texas. the lambribsare to die for and the pit beans are the best baked beans i've ever had.

dissapointed. i was dissapointed at my last visit. usually the food is very good, but my last visit resulted in dried-outribsand tough, chewy sausage. the cole slaw was good as were the onion rings, even though they are pricey. i hope this was just a one-time glitch.

suprisingly good. i always thought this resturant was way overpriced for bbq but i wanted to go somewhere different for my birthday, my husband insisted on taking me out to dinner. so we decided to try it. i had prime rib which was amazing with the addition of having been smoked which added so much to the flavor of the meat. the ajous and horseradish sauce were extremely tasty as well. my husband had theribsand was impressed with them since i makeribsoften. they were meaty, moist and low in fat. we were suprisingly impressed. atmosphere was nice. they almost seated us by the kitchen and i asked for a different table and was graciously taken to one i liked better.

good bbq. went for lunch and the restaurant has more of a steak house look than your typical bbq joint. got the combo lunch with the porkribsand burnt endz, ribswere kinda small but had good flavor and the endz were better than average. for the sauce, i'm used to having a few bottles of flavor options on the table; but they bring one bowl o' sauce with a spoon. the one sauce i was served didn't taste like much of anything and was bland and didn't add anything to the meats. for sides i tried the beans and cheesy corn; beans were good and the corn was basically corn mixed with cheese wiz and tasted better than it sounds. all in all, good barbecue but nothing that really sets it apart from any of the other good places in town.

where i learned to love bbq. jack stack (then called smokestack bbq) was where i learned to really love bbq. it was a long way to travel (for me over 200 miles), but worth every mile. we didn't even mind the typically long wait in the parking lot for them to call us. the food was that good. we studied the menu while waiting for a table to open. it didn't really help speed things up, as i would change my mind about a dozen times before the waitress finally came and took our order. there are so many combo choices, and everything is worthy of consideration.
hands down jack stack has the very best smoked beans in the world. they are meaty enough to almost be served as a main course, and there is enough sweetness to ponder ordering them again for dessert. i also really like the creamy cole slaw. heck, i just love everything on the menu. theribsare fantastic, in all varieties. and the chicken is not to be overlooked. and the sausage, ham and brisket are all lip smacking good.
you will never leave hungry, and usually you will leave with a doggie bag, as portions are ample, and you are apt to over-order with so many wonderful choices to consider.
jack stack's other locations are more conveniently located for me, but i still have wonderful memories of the original martin city digs. we even dined by candlelight once when the power failed (i wasn't leaving, and neither were any other customers). this is where it all began, folks. everyone who isn't a vegetarian should, no, must, eat here!

best beefribsever!!. what isn't good at this restaurant? the bbq beans are the best i've ever had. i don't like beef, but i love the beefribsfrom jack stack. we live around the corner and get takeout often. as soon as my dog smells the food he knows he's getting the bones. everything is consistent and consistently great!

foodgasms for everyone!. ahhhh [slobber] ooohhhh baby [drool]. i tasted the glorious flavor of the meat, gently kissed with smoke. burnt ends, baby backs and brisket were all so much better that i could have expected. the green beans were green (!), crispy and charred, served up in a giant onion ring with red bell pepper strips. the fat on theribswas luxurious.

service was great, decor was great. the facility is lovingly maintained down to every clean corner and tidy seating area.

if they'd just add mutton to the menu and open in seattle, my world could be just a little more complete.
