jack stack barbecue - martin city

posted tue, 02/26/2013 - 15:23 by smoke daddy tour:  kansas city tour joint:  fiorellas jack stack barbecue this is about as good as a high-volume, commercial restaurant enterprise can be.  my favorites were the beef rib, spare rib, and beans. main fare: brisket - not sliced paper-thin. good smoke-meat balance. moist & tender.  rub doesn't add much.  good. rib - sweet exterior. fully rendered.  meat is tender, moist, and comes off the bone easily.  best rib of the tour so far (12th stop on kc tour). sausage - sliced lengthwise, of course.  however spices are not italian.  good. crown [beef] rib - oh, this is yummy! greasy, but good.  i like the rub used on this beef. excellent.  other fare: cheesy corn bake - good cheesy corn. beans - thick, and very sweet. lots of drippings & meaty bits. excellent. potato salad - creamy with a touch of mustard... and dill cole slaw - crunchy with a creamy-vinegar dressing. sauce - all 3 sauces are heavy on the celery salt... would be a good addition t

cant beat it!. we are bbq fans.. try it all across the country and i would put jack stack ribs up against almost anywhere! this weekend we enjoyed yet another fantastic meal. we started with the must have burnt ends... which you could easily make a meal of but dont fill up just yet!
hubby ordered the combo ribs- pork and lamb and of course they almost fall off the bones. they have a perfect smoke ring and a light crispiness that makes them top notch!
i had the combo with pork ribs and bbq chicken. both were spiced with their signature rub and then topped lightly with sauce. wayyyyy too much food but its hard to stop yourself! side dishes that also must be tried are the bbq beans which are cooked with the meats and oooze with meaty flavor and chunks of brisket, and the cheesy corn bake which we never had until we ate at jack stack.
if you are picking one place to eat bbq, choose jack stack!

love foods great. family dinners and the best beans next to my moms. service is okay most days and great on other days gotta try the rib tips. the lamb is awesome!!!!!!

best bbq in kc. have been eating here for 20 years - consistently excellent food and service. you can count on fast service and plentiful plates. would send anyone here without hesitation.

this place is legendary. any of their meats are great. i love the sides though. coleslaw, beans, cheesy corn... that's the best part right there!!!

the best! the quality is excellent, staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean. i love their burnt ends and get the sandwich all the time!

always consistent in their great service and food! onion rings, burnt ends and their cheesy corn are must try's for first time visitors.

overall still the best bbq in town. there isn't a bad item on the menu. that said, it seems lately the quality has slipped a bit. but still one of my favorite places to eat when i want some great bbq.

my husband says it's the best in kc. martin city is the original. the place was inviting yet dark. the food was delicious. the burnt ends melted in my mouth. the beans were the best i had. a meal in itself with tons of meat. the sauce is good and served on the side. we tried the original. they have a spicier sauce if you want.

i love jack stack. i'm from texas and at first i was skeptical that kc bbq could be as good or better. i feel like i'm not allowed to say this but it's way better than anything i've had in texas. the lamb ribs are to die for and the pit beans are the best baked beans i've ever had.

we had a retirement celebration for a fellow worker here today. we were in and out in one hour and there were 25 of us. good food and great service as usuall.

disapppointed. we were not allowed in one patio area could only get take out for the other patio. the greeter said they don't serve on the patios on saturdays. i politely advised her it was friday and received a cold "well, not today either!" they have 2 nice shaded patio areas that were empty. there was a waiting line for inside seating. we left disappointed. what happed to their customer service?

i earned my tip. i've eaten here on occassion. i was surprised that i had to bus my own table...literally. my waitress had no problem clearing empty glasses and used plates from other tables in her section. just odd to experience in a bbq restaurant at this price point, where there are so many bones and extras that pile up in the meal? service was adequate.

dissapointed. i was dissapointed at my last visit. usually the food is very good, but my last visit resulted in dried-out ribs and tough, chewy sausage. the cole slaw was good as were the onion rings, even though they are pricey. i hope this was just a one-time glitch.
