posted tue, 02/26/2013 - 15:23 by smoke daddy tour:  kansas city tour joint:  fiorellasjackstack barbecue this is about as good as a high-volume, commercial restaurant enterprise can be.  my favorites were the beef rib, spare rib, and beans. main fare: brisket - not sliced paper-thin. good smoke-meat balance. moist & tender.  rub doesn't add much.  good. rib - sweet exterior. fully rendered.  meat is tender, moist, and comes off the bone easily.  best rib of the tour so far (12th stop on kc tour). sausage - sliced lengthwise, of course.  however spices are not italian.  good. crown [beef] rib - oh, this is yummy! greasy, but good.  i like the rub used on this beef. excellent.  other fare: cheesy corn bake - good cheesy corn. beans - thick, and very sweet. lots of drippings & meaty bits. excellent. potato salad - creamy with a touch of mustard... and dill cole slaw - crunchy with a creamy-vinegar dressing. sauce - all 3 sauces are heavy on the celery salt... would be a good addition t

cant beat it!. we are bbq fans.. try it all across the country and i would putjackstack ribs up against almost anywhere! this weekend we enjoyed yet another fantastic meal. we started with the must have burnt ends... which you could easily make a meal of but dont fill up just yet!
hubby ordered the combo ribs- pork and lamb and of course they almost fall off the bones. they have a perfect smoke ring and a light crispiness that makes them top notch!
i had the combo with pork ribs and bbq chicken. both were spiced with their signature rub and then topped lightly with sauce. wayyyyy too much food but its hard to stop yourself! side dishes that also must be tried are the bbq beans which are cooked with the meats and oooze with meaty flavor and chunks of brisket, and the cheesy corn bake which we never had until we ate atjackstack.
if you are picking one place to eat bbq, choosejackstack!

i lovejackstack. i'm from texas and at first i was skeptical that kc bbq could be as good or better. i feel like i'm not allowed to say this but it's way better than anything i've had in texas. the lamb ribs are to die for and the pit beans are the best baked beans i've ever had.

sure there are places where i may have rated the meat or sauce higher, but very few places have the total package thatjackstack offers. despite the 40 minute wait we had i totally agree with what our hostess told us as we reached are seats, “don’t worry, it’ll be worth the wait.”

the food has always been outstanding atjackstack - in my opinion the best barbecue in kansas city. but for some reason, it was just exceptional this one particular evening.

how can you go wrong?. in a city known for bbq, how can you go wrong withjackstack? i've eaten at all of the locations (freighthouse is my favorite), and the experience is the same at all of them. i love the cheesy corn, and always get it. we always take out-of-towners tojackstack. the only way they could make it better would be to change their sauce. in my mind, if you combine the food ofjackstack with gates' bbq sauce, that would be the perfect restaurant.

where i learned to love bbq.jackstack (then called smokestack bbq) was where i learned to really love bbq. it was a long way to travel (for me over 200 miles), but worth every mile. we didn't even mind the typically long wait in the parking lot for them to call us. the food was that good. we studied the menu while waiting for a table to open. it didn't really help speed things up, as i would change my mind about a dozen times before the waitress finally came and took our order. there are so many combo choices, and everything is worthy of consideration.
hands downjackstack has the very best smoked beans in the world. they are meaty enough to almost be served as a main course, and there is enough sweetness to ponder ordering them again for dessert. i also really like the creamy cole slaw. heck, i just love everything on the menu. the ribs are fantastic, in all varieties. and the chicken is not to be overlooked. and the sausage, ham and brisket are all lip smacking good.
you will never leave hungry, and usually you will leave with a doggie bag, as portions are ample, and you are apt to over-order with so many wonderful choices to consider.
jack stack's other locations are more conveniently located for me, but i still have wonderful memories of the original martin city digs. we even dined by candlelight once when the power failed (i wasn't leaving, and neither were any other customers). this is where it all began, folks. everyone who isn't a vegetarian should, no, must, eat here!

(possibly) the best bbq in kc.jackstack in martin city is possibly the best barbeque place in kc. i say possibly because there are a lot of outstanding barbeque restaurants in the kc area, and depending on who's having a bad day at any given time, the title can change hands.
having said that, i have never been disappointed eating here. that kind of consistency may put this place over the top, simply because no one else has been as consistently good in my book.

awesome bbq, nice place, great service. this place is one of my favorites here in the south kc area. there are a few things that are really important to have a nice meal andjackstack bbq has them all.

1) not only is the food delicious, but the portions are extremely generous. we always end up taking some home. our favorite is the burnt ends, beans & cheesy corn.

2) the place is so nice. we love the environment and how classy it feels. all the servers are dressed in black and there is ambient lighting. looks fancy without it affecting the budget.

3) who doesn't like customer service with their dinner? i know i do. the people atjackstack are very friendly and always have a smile on their face. they are helpful and always make sure you have what you need and even more.

one bad thing: they don't have mashed potatoes.

5 stars for sure!

best beef ribs ever!!. what isn't good at this restaurant? the bbq beans are the best i've ever had. i don't like beef, but i love the beef ribs fromjackstack. we live around the corner and get takeout often. as soon as my dog smells the food he knows he's getting the bones. everything is consistent and consistently great!
