cant beat it!. we arebbqfans.. try it all across the country and i would put jack stack ribs up against almost anywhere! this weekend we enjoyed yet another fantastic meal. we started with the must have burnt ends... which you could easily make a meal of but dont fill up just yet!
hubby ordered the combo ribs- pork and lamb and of course they almost fall off the bones. they have a perfect smoke ring and a light crispiness that makes them top notch!
i had the combo with pork ribs andbbqchicken. both were spiced with their signature rub and then topped lightly with sauce. wayyyyy too much food but its hard to stop yourself! side dishes that also must be tried are thebbqbeans which are cooked with the meats and oooze with meaty flavor and chunks of brisket, and the cheesy corn bake which we never had until we ate at jack stack.
if you are picking one place to eat bbq, choose jack stack!

bestbbqin kc. have been eating here for 20 years - consistently excellent food and service. you can count on fast service and plentiful plates. would send anyone here without hesitation.

overall still the bestbbqin town. there isn't a bad item on the menu. that said, it seems lately the quality has slipped a bit. but still one of my favorite places to eat when i want some great bbq.

i love jack stack. i'm from texas and at first i was skeptical that kcbbqcould be as good or better. i feel like i'm not allowed to say this but it's way better than anything i've had in texas. the lamb ribs are to die for and the pit beans are the best baked beans i've ever had.

i earned my tip. i've eaten here on occassion. i was surprised that i had to bus my own table...literally. my waitress had no problem clearing empty glasses and used plates from other tables in her section. just odd to experience in abbqrestaurant at this price point, where there are so many bones and extras that pile up in the meal? service was adequate.

suprisingly good. i always thought this resturant was way overpriced forbbqbut i wanted to go somewhere different for my birthday, my husband insisted on taking me out to dinner. so we decided to try it. i had prime rib which was amazing with the addition of having been smoked which added so much to the flavor of the meat. the ajous and horseradish sauce were extremely tasty as well. my husband had the ribs and was impressed with them since i make ribs often. they were meaty, moist and low in fat. we were suprisingly impressed. atmosphere was nice. they almost seated us by the kitchen and i asked for a different table and was graciously taken to one i liked better.

barbecue baked beans withbbqrib meat. it was summer 2012, arrived in kansas city, hungry after driving for 500 miles,checking into my hotel i asked at the desk if there was goodbbqclose by,,he said you are asking to right person that question,, i eat there 4 or five days a week his words ,, its the bestbbqin k.c and in my opinion in the world,, he tells me jack stacksbbqbaked beans are the best any where,,,the ribs were as he said ,, and those beans i could have eaten only them and been satified, i still think of them,, next trip here i come

good bbq. went for lunch and the restaurant has more of a steak house look than your typicalbbqjoint. got the combo lunch with the pork ribs and burnt endz, ribs were kinda small but had good flavor and the endz were better than average. for the sauce, i'm used to having a few bottles of flavor options on the table; but they bring one bowl o' sauce with a spoon. the one sauce i was served didn't taste like much of anything and was bland and didn't add anything to the meats. for sides i tried the beans and cheesy corn; beans were good and the corn was basically corn mixed with cheese wiz and tasted better than it sounds. all in all, good barbecue but nothing that really sets it apart from any of the other good places in town.

how can you go wrong?. in a city known for bbq, how can you go wrong with jack stack? i've eaten at all of the locations (freighthouse is my favorite), and the experience is the same at all of them. i love the cheesy corn, and always get it. we always take out-of-towners to jack stack. the only way they could make it better would be to change their sauce. in my mind, if you combine the food of jack stack with gates'bbqsauce, that would be the perfect restaurant.

we stopped for lunch and had the pork rib special and ruby red trout special with mushrooms as an appetizer. the restaurant was clean an well designed. waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. as for the food, it was simply the bestbbqi've had in the kansas city area. even had to get orders to go so we could eat more for dinner because there were so many menu choices.

bestbbqbeans. i prefer the burnt ends here. love thebbqbeans. they have bits of meat in them. mmm mmm good! think they are the best around! also recommend either the cheesy corn (sounds gross but good!) or the cheese potato bake. yum! (my husband usually gets one and i the other so we can have bites of both.) very good onion rings for appetizer. they are huge... i would recommend the half rack.

(possibly) the bestbbqin kc. jack stack in martin city is possibly the best barbeque place in kc. i say possibly because there are a lot of outstanding barbeque restaurants in the kc area, and depending on who's having a bad day at any given time, the title can change hands.
having said that, i have never been disappointed eating here. that kind of consistency may put this place over the top, simply because no one else has been as consistently good in my book.
