pricey. pretty pricey, but good, i've had better for much cheaper. but i would certainly return.

1 of the best in town. it's expensive, but 1 of the top 4 in town. i love this place and its other locations. it is excellent and the service is normally good. the sides are to die for as well. try the rack of o ion rings, cheeses corn and the best baked beans you will ever eat.

suprisingly good. i always thought this resturant was way overpriced for bbq but i wanted to go somewhere different for my birthday, my husband insisted on taking me out to dinner. so we decided to try it. i had prime rib which was amazing with the addition of having been smoked which added so much to the flavor of the meat. the ajous and horseradish sauce were extremely tasty as well. my husband had the ribs and was impressed with them since i make ribs often. they were meaty, moist and low in fat. we were suprisingly impressed. atmosphere was nice. they almost seated us by the kitchen and i asked for a different table and was graciously taken to one i liked better.

thank you for the best bbq experience i have ever had. i wish you were in mn to show how delicious bbq can be. i could not stop fingering the bbq sauce off the plate. your restaurant was ecelectically decorated and was great.

serious bar-b-que. really good though probably not my favorite. one thing great about this place-they smoke all kinds of meat-extensive menu.

barbecue baked beans with bbq rib meat. it was summer 2012, arrived in kansas city, hungry after driving for 500 miles,checking into my hotel i asked at the desk if there was good bbq close by,,he said you are asking to right person that question,, i eat there 4 or five days a week his words ,, its the best bbq in k.c and in my opinion in the world,, he tells me jack stacks bbq baked beans are the best any where,,,the ribs were as he said ,, and those beans i could have eaten only them and been satified, i still think of them,, next trip here i come

jacks stack..is for real. best meal, in a very long time.

here is my wife and my notes:

1. the smell as we walked up, the line 45min long and atmosphere was a prelude of great expectations. we had heard a few say it was good, but this is really really good.

2. service: above average, to the point of a little overbearing, but better than not. nice, knowledgeable and frequently took care of us

3. decor: clean, well kept, very nice (a)

4. food: to be cliche', epic. the ribs, were best ever for me, my wife had prime rib, and she will be buried remembering the night she ate prime rib. its been a couple of years now, and we still talk about it (a++)

overall: this beats the crap out of memphis and nc and texas bbq, hands down, not even close. if you want to impress, take them here

it is a well known fact that i think that jack stack has the best beans ever (not just in kc), i would swim in a pool full of jack stack beans if i could, but today the jack stack sausage was the star of the show.

been here 5-6 times and everytime i wanted to eat somewhere else! over priced by far! all i can say is anyone who prefers jack stack clearly has never been to oklahoma joes! their portions here are small and the meat was always so dry!

made a mistake tonight and ordered chilean sea bass. it tasted ok but definitely frozen not fresh and it cost $27.95! way over priced. should have stayed with bbq. service was very good as usual.

bar - b -q. bring your appetite. onion rings for an appetizer are a must but so are the mushrooms. the barbeque sandwich i had for lunch was very good. the service was excellent even though the restaurant was packed with a 30 minute waiting time. i enjoyed the décor at the south kansas city location more than the country club plaza location. the holmes location has the feeling of eating in someone's (large) home.

good bbq. went for lunch and the restaurant has more of a steak house look than your typical bbq joint. got the combo lunch with the pork ribs and burnt endz, ribs were kinda small but had good flavor and the endz were better than average. for the sauce, i'm used to having a few bottles of flavor options on the table; but they bring one bowl o' sauce with a spoon. the one sauce i was served didn't taste like much of anything and was bland and didn't add anything to the meats. for sides i tried the beans and cheesy corn; beans were good and the corn was basically corn mixed with cheese wiz and tasted better than it sounds. all in all, good barbecue but nothing that really sets it apart from any of the other good places in town.

sure there are places where i may have rated the meat or sauce higher, but very few places have the total package that jack stack offers. despite the 40 minute wait we had i totally agree with what our hostess told us as we reached are seats, “don’t worry, it’ll be worth the wait.”

the food has always been outstanding at jack stack - in my opinion the best barbecue in kansas city. but for some reason, it was just exceptional this one particular evening.

with reservations.... i like this place, with a few reservations... its not that great, but good and consistent. a little too pricey for continual use. i love them beans, though!
