poor service and tourist trap. olive tapenade 4/5 - came with the hotter-than-room-temp bread. this is the only one of the two items that i miss from the dinner. too bad they don't sell this.
fisherman’s soup (black tiger prawns, halibut and mussels in tomato broth with peppers, artichokes, fennel seed, chili flakes, white wine and cilantro) 4/5 $13 - this is the 2nd item that i miss. it tasted more like a thai soup. it didn't came with a lot of ingredients: 1 pieces of prawn, 2 mussels and maybe 4-5 pieces of halibut, and some diced tomatoes.
insalata caesar (crisp romaine lettuce with traditional caesar dressing, shaved parmigiano reggiano and house-made croutons) $9 3/5 - fresh romaine but boring. didn't ask if we want any fresh ground pepper or fresh parmesan cheese.
carne pizza (blackened chicken, italian sausage, spicy genoa salami finished with fresh arugula and shaved parmesan) $17 3/5 - the crust was not that thin. didn't recall it had many pieces chicken.
fettucine marco polo (grilled chicken breast, toasted cashews, mango, fresh basil and pimentos in a lemon cream sauce) $21 3.5/5 - i liked this better than the filetto d'alibut. the fettucine was not as hard as the fusilli pasta (i don't mind it being a little bit more al dente). i enjoyed the tangy mango sauce. perfect for summer.
filetto d'alibut (fresh local halibut baked with a blackberry green peppercorn, balsamic reduction. topped with asiago cheese and served on three cheese fusilli pasta) $27 3/5 - i had high hopes of this dish after reading some reviews but it was a total disappointment. presentation was okay and it looked like a steak when it arrived. mushroom sauce on a piece of overcooked halibut. i couldn't taste any of the blackberry green peppercorn balsamic reduction and the three cheese fusilli pasta. the pasta just tasted the regular.
service 1.5/5 - very poor service. our server steve never came back to check on our food. he did not ask if we want any fresh ground pepper and/or parmesan cheese (where the other tables got served). at the end he kicked us out by dropping off the bill after entree without asking if we want any dessert or coffee. there wasn't even a lineup at the door. i'm giving it something because we got some bread. portions are bigger than expected but more like a tourist trap to me. the restaurant was loud and it reminded me of the upscaled version of the old spaghetti factory. there are better choices in victoria. not planning to come back anytime soon.
