il terrazzo

my husband & i dined at iiterrazzoon a recent weekend trip to victoria. we found the experience wonderful. great location close to the harbor, government street, and royal bc museum. the food was well prepared and included fresh bread...i had the frutti di mare. my scallops and mussels were cooked perfectly and it was a good portion of protein. my husband had a butternut squash cannelloni with an amazing curry flavor. also the wine list was extensive. the waitstaff was friendly and attentive. i would definitely recommend reservations in advance, we stopped in the day before to ask and were able to snag an early dinner spot at 5 pm...so plan ahead! would definitely return if we are ever again in the area.

always enjoyable. we brought our friends to ilterrazzoas they are looking for a fine dining experience with amazing atmosphere and ambiance. we all liked the fantastic atmosphere, even though it was packed on a saturday evening. our server was great as he was friendly, and suggested lots of good choices for my friends who are coming to ilterrazzofor the first time. the cozze (steam mussels) was great as usual, and the ingredients blend in nicely. in general, the food was not as good as before; perhaps the kitchen had a busy night. the rack of lamb (carre d'agnello) does not have enough flavor, and lacks presentation. the seafood pasta is decent, with generous and fresh ingredients. the grilled chicken breast and halibut (filletto d'halibut) were grilled nicely, though the taste were also average. i do not like the three cheese sauce on the pasta as it does not taste good and go well with the halibut. although my friends are too full for dessert, i always save my stomach for the tiramisu, which is the star of the dessert menu. overall, we had an enjoyable evening as a result of the fantastic atmosphere, and attentive service. i think the quality of the food has declined a little bit, and the quality and the presentation of the food might not fit into the fine dining category.

nice romantic spot, excellent food and service. although i have read some poor reviews about the food and service of il terrazzo, i felt the service was always excellent everytime i go there. the server was very friendly, and it is the second time that he served us. last night was no different, the sevice was great on a busy friday evening; the food has some ups and downs.

we had the cozze (steam mussels with banana peppers and sundried tomatoes), and tasted great as usual. my gf had the linguine con frutti di mare (seafood pasta), and the seafood had good flavors and blended in nicely with spices. however, i had the pollo appolonia (chicken breast with seafood and fusili pasta), and the three cheese sauce on the pasta was so salty!! for dessert, i had the tiramisu as i always do. the best place of the restaurant is the patio, and it was packed on a cold evening.

overall, this place is a great place for a date, family dinner, or any anniversary occasion. the food and service were great despite some setbacks on the food quality on a typical busy evening. the portion was big as we could barely finish our main dishes. however, i do agree with other reviews that some bottle wines seem to be overpriced. we only had 2 glasses of wine and 1 glass of cocktail, so this issue didnt bother me much. although this high-end italian restaurant is not as good as the middle high end italian restaurants of hong kong, this is the place to go if you want to enjoy a romantic atmosphere with great service.

ilterrazzochild friendly. went to ilterrazzoon a recommendation while visiting victoria. food quality was excellent, as was the service. was with a 5 year old, and the staff was excellent in suggesting and preparing a meal catering to her tastes. don’t be afraid to take a well mannered child to experience il terrazzo. it’s worth the experience with this gem!

best in town!!. we always go to ilterrazzofor any special occasion. service is good, and the quality of food is superb. i never hesitate to recommend ilterrazzoto hotel guests, they always come back with positive comments. keep up the fine work, don't change anything.

il-matic. great service, hearty perfect beautiful food, stunning servers, brilliant booze selection ,amazing atmosphere. i dream of this place, and experience involuntary salivation when ilterrazzocomes to mind.

i love the rustic feel at ilterrazzoand the service is always superb. i had the seafood fetuccine and it had the most freshest seafood! the waitress said it was a spicy dish but i found it a little bland. could have used some salt. my husband however, really loved his dish.

ilterrazzoon urbanspoonil terrazo is hidden in an alley that can look a bit dodgy at night. you might then expect it to be a smallish place, but it is actually rather expansive, though the area behind the bar is quite tight, including a wine "cellar" accessed by a ladder.

best italian i've ever had. oh... oh goodness is this good. i love the atmosphere as well. the outside is lovely, and i rather like the sunroof patio. the food is just exquisite. it's obviously a splurge, but ilterrazzois well worth it. if you have a more modest budget like me, then it's a wonderful place to try for lunch, with very reasonable entrees at about $15, that are just as delicious.

as someone who moved to victoria from calgary, and frequents vancouver, i can say to the previous reviewer that their single bad experience shouldn't twist their view so much. this place is fantastic.

italian excellence. we visited this restaurant solely on the reccomendation of a couple of fellow guests at our hotel - it of course looked good too! nice slightly hidden location, great ambience and a good selection of dishes on the menu.

the food and service were excellent and the waiters, sorry server's knowledge of their excellent wine list was an enourmous help to myself as i have a good knowledge of aussie wines and some experience with bc wines but little with 'old world' wines!

both our kids (14 and 11) did an excellent job of attacking dishes from the standard menu as did their older dining companions. deserts and after dinner drinks rounded out the evening quite nicely.

a more expensive restaurant but the pricing was in line with the service and quality. i am quite happy to recommend ilterrazzoand would eat there again - although it may be a while till i'm back in victoria - my previous visits being in 1986!

favorites are the pollo apolonia and the scallopini di maiale.

great for a business lunch. i have dined at ilterrazzofor business lunches many times. they have quick, efficient service and delicious food. my favorite is the spaghettini con capesante. the bread and tapanade that is served as an appetizer is amazing and prices are very reasonable for the high quality food with reasonable portion sizes.

not worth it!. i have now been ti ilterrazzothree times and i must admit that i just don't get it! i do not understand why it's so busy. the food is barely ok and the speed at which it's delivered to the table is astonishing! we barely had our wine opened when the appetizer came (about 1 minute after ordering it). i am assuming this means it was pre-made, which seems odd for a caprese salad in what many consider "the best italian restaurant". then, the minute we finished the salad the main courses arrived. no time to relax, drink some more wine and chat. the main courses were huge and covered in heavy sauces that completely overwhelmed the actual dishes (short rib and venison), which were very, very large. i have no idea why the portions need to be so large...it's not the olive garden or america. the risotto was poorly cooked and the cannelloni was unrecognizable. finally, the table was so long that you could barely hear your table mate talk or create any atmosphere at all. again, i just don't get why this restaurant is so popular. i suggest you try matisse or camille's. both are fantastic, with exquisite food and wonderful, well paced service.

nice dine out choice. the first impression of iiterrazzowas warm and comfortable, it is a really good place for couples hang out or anniversary celebration.
we are amazed by its service. the waitress was super friendly and always has a warm smile on her face. if you don't know what to order just go to ask, the waitress gave us good recommendation.
most importantly, the food was super tasty. all our dishes were well made and the bread taste like just came out form the oven.
even it is little pricy, i think it worth for the quality of food.

fantastic food for a fantastic occasion. i've read most of the reviews here for il terrazzo, and to an extent, i agree with them. there are lots of what one might call "fusion" items, where they take traditional italian dishes and make them their own. the place can be crowded, sure, but i've never seen that as an indication that a restaurant is worth avoiding. it is a touch on the expensive side and a bill can run high, just as easily as any restaurant. it can, though, be budgeted. i've read the reviews, and i'm still willing to call one of this my most favourite restaurants in victoria.

i've never in my 5 or 6 trips here had anything i would describe as "bland," and so i feel for those who unfortunately have felt that way. i've always found everything from the first bite of my panko-crusted mushroom salad down to the last forced bite of creamy, rich pasta to be extremely flavourful. as someone who tends to pinch his pennies together on most things, i have never left ilterrazzofeeling i didn't get my money's worth. never.

great place for a date, and a non-judgemental place to go on your own. the few times i've been with someone who's had questions about the menu, the servers have always had a spot-on answer. yes, sometimes, the service can be a touch slow, but i would say that's happened less often than i've been satisfied with their speed and attentiveness.

overall, i've simply loved the taste of everything i've ever had here, and can't wait to go back again.

first time at ilterrazzolast night and i will be going back. service was excellent, courtyard was beautiful and the food was soooo good. i didn't find the prices outrageous. you pay for what you get. i would recommend making a reservation if you are going on a friday night.
