consistently good. service here is always impeccable but the wait can be exasperating. food is consistently good. portions are large enough to take home another meal. the spinach artichoke dip has been a big hit on my family's visits for at least 15 years. so sorry the cheese toast does not accompany the salad's now.

if you don't mind waiting for a table houston's is the place to go for a good meal.

great food. their food is top notch but i agree with a previous review about their atmosphere. its very casual for a high end but very high end for a casual restaurant.

in any case, you cant go wrong with any meal here. i've had their salads, homemade burgers and steaks. all very good and the service is always very attentive.

this place is one of my favorites and would go all the time if it were a bit closer to where i live or work.
i highly recommend it.

good all round restaurant. houstons reminds me of seeming a movie that has been hyped up. if you stumbled upon it having never heard anyting about it, you would love it, but once you have heard all of the hype, you leave thinking it is more average even if it is one of the best. i like houston's but feel like i am a little tainted to it because i know so many people who think it is one of the greatest restaurants.

another oddity about houstons is its price point. i feel like some people realy love it because it is a little nicer than most but not over the top fancy, and then some people feel like it is lost in the middle: too casual to be a fancy restaurant and to fancy to be a casual restaurant. i see both sides, but i think i mostly appreciate it for what it is good food and a nice atmosphere.

one of my favorites in the area. boy, i love houston's. i live just down the street, but i don't go often enough. the hickory burger is one of my favorite burgers anywhere, awesome fries, baked potatoes. great salads, the steaks are wonderful (try the fillet). i've always been pleased with the service. as busy as they are on a normal basis i've never had a problem. i highly recommend.

go for the prime rib. there's not a lot of places in town anymore that you can get prime rib any day of the week. we used to go to lawry's when the hankering came up but the quality of beef dropped while the prices went up. the one in century city is a zoo, but the one in manhattan beach seems better managed. don't bother with much else on the menu, it's prime rib or the prime rib sandwich. treat it more like a diner than an upscale restaurant and you'll leave satisfied. they mix a decent cocktail with a generous pour as well.

not recommended. my husband and i went here to celebrate our anniversary. the only reason we came here is because we had a gift card, otherwise we wouldn't have chosen this restaurant. we made reservations well in advance and confirmed them a few days before, yet we still ended up waiting over a half hour to be seated and the hostesses were very rude about it. the food was mediocre at best. we were pressured into ordering an appetizer even though i really wasn't interested in one. the salad was awful. don't order the caesar, because it tastes nothing like a caesar should; it tasted like a chinese salad. the steak was okay, but way under cooked from what i ordered. to top if off, they wouldn't accept our gift card. they claimed that it had already been redeemed, but it hadn't. instead of accepting the mistake, the manager basically implied that i was a liar. i will never eat at this restaurant again, and i hope you won't either. this was the worst experience i have ever had at a restaurant in my life.
