there is a reason there is mainly a 2 hour wait. this restaurant is simply a place you want to be. the atmosphere, the food, the service. those are the 3 keys to a successful restaurant. i dare you to find an item on themenuthat isn't of the highest quality. their burgers are ground daily to ensure the best freshness, their steaks are so tender they melt in your mouth. the 2 famous apps (peel and eat shrimp, and the artichoke and spinach dip) are must haves when you come with a group of people, but do be prepared to wait, i one time waited 2 hours for a table at 5pm on a thursday.

possibly the best burger in la. great quality of food across themenuonly down side is some of the staff can be a bit snooty.

not sure when houston's, which i remember from years ago as eclectic american restaurant became a sushi restaurant. not that sushi is only offering but it is featured prominently and is very good, if not traditional. salads also very good. of note: would not call this a kid friendly restaurant. no children'smenualtho waiter offered grilled cheese.

though their service is nice i have visited this spot on several occasions and it doesn't wow me at all.

family favorite - great atmosphere & food. year after year houston's is top favorite for my wife and me. the decor uses heavy woods with deep burgundy seats and accents. it's all tied together with brick and beautiful artwork. the servers are always prim and proper. their small waist apron and white starched shirts create a crisp look. server styles and interactions do fluctuate from one another, but all of them know theirmenuand are attentive.

the food is outstanding every time. the chef continually creates dishes that marry the full flavor tastes no matter what you order. try the traditional salad. they use rich buttermilk in the ranch. real bacon is broken down and sprinkled throughout the salad. the french dip is the best anywhere and is our benchmark for other places. they use prime rib served med rare. it's so tender. the shoestring fries are cooked and seasoned just right. the list of great items is endless. try the ding chicken or offmenuclub sandwich. the filet melts with just a fork, no knife needed. you will not leave any of the artichoke dip in the bowl.

houston’s is outstanding, and it has the wait times that go along with it. an hour+ in peak times is normal. they will not seat you unless your whole party is present. keep that in mind.

awesome!!!!. for at 20 years... my favorite place..if you want baby back ribs.. knife and fork... i have had ribs all over the us and if there are better ribs... please tell me where...and i have had their ribs are many of their us locations and they are consistent at all locations.

if your lucky enough to dine at a location that has the salmon appetizer , you must try it.. my husband gets the prime rib and tells me it's the best ever..

i have had almost everything onmenuand it's all good...really great lemon drops. five nut brownie is awesome. price... i don't know... i don't look at the price, the food is soooo good, price doesn't matter. don't miss out on great food.

always there for us!. tough location for us northern suburbanites but we make it to town every opportunity we get for a nice visit to one of our absolute favorites....always. great cozy bar with very attentive staff. new lobby and patio waiting area is an improvement. consistentmenuis a welcome friend and attention to detail makes this reliable eatery feel like your favorite leather jacket. been coming here now for 20 years w/o a single disappointment ! keep an eye out for emmit.

i am always on the search for a good veggie burger.  i especially love when a restaurant makes their own meatless patties from scratch in house and use unique ingredients- and on a recent trip to houston’s i struck gold. houston’s is an upscale dining experience, though not quite “fine dining” by most standards.  themenuconsists of entrees like prime rib , filet mignon and grilled salmon , however, we were there for one thing and one thing only- t he house made veggie burger .  (ok- and the kale salad - so two things.)  i visited with my mother, who told me houston’s has one of the best veggie burgers ever.  always made fresh in house, their patty is made of brown rice, black beans and oat bran.  do not mistake this for an ordinary black bean burger, this was far too tasty and delicious to be categorized as just a black bean burger. the burger is thick and sloppy- perfect.  topped with a soy glaze, melted pepper-jack cheese and garnished with lettuce, tomato,onion

best french dip i've had in years. taylor at the bar really takes care of her customers.

probably the most consistent restaurant in nola. everything on themenuis solid & the service is fantastic. as for apps try: spinach dip, smoked salmon or fried oysters. all very tasty. the soup changes daily but tuesday nights tortilla soup & saturdays chili are the best. the french dip sandwich and hickory burger are awesome. the grilled salmon, prime rib, ribs & crab cakes are all winners for entrees. i can't say enough @ this place. just love it!

great food and even better service. i go there every once in a while and the service is the best ever and the food is also top notch and the ribs are great like every thing else on themenuthe service well all the wait staff goes around and makes sure drinks are refilled and food is perfect every body should go there

just okay. houston's was just okay. themenudoes not have a wide variety. however, the grilled artichoke was great and the fried oyster salad was okay. i wouldn't choose to eat here though

finest ribs in la!. five stars in every category. the service is excellent and the waiters and waitresses are always available when you need them. they are always waiting with drink refills even before being asked. servers are professional and very helpful. the setting is nice for a romantic meal and even a family dinner. the food tops all other achievements. baby back ribs are tender and the taste is heightened by the use of home-made barbecue sauce. the prime rib is also a must-try. definitely check this place out!!!

best steak in town!!!. i've been to houston's a few times now with my family and i always leave satisfied. they serve traditional american cuisine like prime rib and baby-back ribs. the meat is tender and the sides for all the dishes are all delicious. although houston'smenuis very limited, the quality of the meals definitely outweigh the lack of choice. the restaurants are usually well-lit and perfect for a romantic meal. the service is superb and the waiters and waitresses all know how to pace themselves and how to always keep the customer in mind.

love it!. where do i begin!? some of my favoritemenuitems include the mexico city soup, the chicken salad (i don't remember the exact name of the salad but it includes crispy chicken and avocados), the pork chop (usually served with a seasonal vegetable - the cabbage and creamed potatoes are delish), and the gigantic sundae (made with chocolate from the chocolatier next door!!). i can only two times out of the numerous times i've dined here that service wasn't very good. other than that, the waiters/waitresses are usually very professional and attentive. i highly recommend this restaurant!

i've never eaten anything bad here. the food and service is awesome. if you are ever told that there is key lime pie on the desertmenui suggest you order it, it changes lives. seriously.

always good.. i have been here so many times over the last decade and i honestly can't think of a time of ever having a bad experience. rib-eye is phenomenal. spinach dip? sure who cant use an extra 1000 calories for an app, but when it tastes this good, who really cares?
theirmenuis very concise to the point its almost too small, but they obviously know what they are doing as everything, and i mean everything on it is amazing. i'm not even a big fish eater, but the smoked salmon app is to die for.
service is for the most part good. some minor misses here and there but on the overall, good. servers obviously work in very small stations, i think maybe 4 tables, i know this as everytime we sit and talk after dessert, the servers usually drop a stink-eye our way, like "get up! i got to get more tables!" i understand, but i don't need to see it when i'm eating out.
minor gripe, overall great place. recommend to anyone any day of the week. oh yea, if you walk up to hostess and she tells you 100 minute wait; there is no punchline, she's serious, that's how long the wait is sometimes. this is when i proceed to the bar and get sloppy drunk to the point i can barely walk to the table when they call my name. i mean come on! 100 minutes!
