greg norman australian grill

unbelievable experience. we have been to greg norman's many times, and thought we would have a great experience by booking a table for new year's eve a couple of weeks in advance. we were assured that it would be in thediningroom, and not the bar area, but could join the festivities in the bar for music and a midnight toast. when we arrived we were led to the old retail shop...not the maindiningarea.....with a view of several other tables, two walls, and the parking lot. when we questioned the location, we were told that we could see the fireworks. then we went back to the reception area, and asked if we could be put in the maindiningroom, and were willing to take the first available table. we were polite in our request; she was not.....rudely dismissed us.....the head hostess told us that was not an option. i made a call across the parking lot to another upscale restaurant from our table, and was told there was just a cancellation. we took it, and immediately walked out. told them we were leaving, and one of the reception staff asked if we were sure.....couldn't have been more sure. what a different experience across the way...nice atmosphere, friendly hostess and reception staff, owner and general manager both visited our table, and nicely decorated. ended up staying there at the bar after dinner, and had a fantastic evening. we had heard several stories from friends of ours regarding the unaccommodating and poor attitudes found at norman's, but had never experienced it until last night. we are local business people and have taken friends and clients there for years, but will think long and hard before we ever go back or recommend it.

never go as a single woman. service sucks. will be totally ignored. will be stuck in a corner or by the door to the kitchen. i went there every week for six months. no one ever recognized me. left 20% tip thinking that might get me some recognition and a seat in the maindiningarea. then moved to the bar. counted 6 waiters who walked by me before one stopped to ask if had been served. i finally decided taking my business where it was wanted. i went one time with my daughter and was finally placed in a front booth. the wait staff fawned over my daughter; really??? who did they think was paying the bill. won't be back

wife and i decided to make this one of our dinners out while on vacation. she knows i'm a fan of greg norman, so it was really a no brainer. i'm pleased to say this was a greatdiningexperience. restaurant ambiance was sophisticated, but not snobbish. felt completely comfortable in golf shorts and polo (no surprise there). we had reservations at 6:30 on a thursday and we're seated promptly at a comfy table with cushy seats big enough for four. we asked for a smaller table that would seat us closer to the windows overlooking the water. they obliged. our waitress, lynn, took our drink order and gave is time to go over the menu, which was very impressive. great variety of pallet options from surf to turf. meantime, the restaurant started to get busy and we found ourselves in a high traffic area. the restaurant manager stopped over and asked if it would be okay for him to make ourdiningexperience more enjoyable by moving us a couple tables over to avoid the high traffic area. seriously? we had not even mentioned to each other yet that it might be an awkward spot. great start to the night. we received our drinks and ordered. i ordered the fillet special and my wife ordered the seared ahi tuna, both rare to medium rare. bread came next, which was piping hot and delicious, and there was plenty of time for good conversation. we waited a bit longer it seemed than we are used to at finediningrestaurants, but they were busy and we were in no hurry. our food arrived and looked as appetizing as it sounded on the menu. tuna and fillet we're exactly as we ordered and lynn stopped back the right amount of times to check on us...you know, she didn't do the one time drive by to check it off her list, but she didn't make so many stops you got creeped out and it becomes the topic of your conversation. both main course dishes tasted as good as they looked and the accompaniments elevated the flavors to new levels. the net result was a great experience. the entire staff was courteous, the food was excellent and the view was inspiring. a++ and i'll definitely be back!

our favorite place in myrtle...come every year and never dissapointed. i read some negative comments on here and my response is if you want outback prices go there, if you want 2000 calorie meals there are plenty of bad buffets here and the guy that said he spent $1000...not likely unless he had 10+ people....2 meals, 3 kids meals, 4 glasses of wine, tax, 20% tip came to $153. i've spent more elsewhere and didn't get near the quality.

our favorite place in myrtle beach...the stripwood steak is awesome, everything is really good. priced well for finerdiningand family friendly...you must go!!!!

great atmosphere.. we always dine here when in myrtle beach. a great choice for finediningand a wonderful atmosphere.

i had a fantastic time the steak was delicious the service was awesome and the view on the marina whilediningwas extraordinary

worst place i've ate at in s long time. total tipoff. ceasar salad was 4 large whole pieces of lettuce which i had to cut up. do not waste your time!diningthere was a total joke.

i love this restaurant! since the year it opened this place has been a fixture into every golf trip and family vacation i have taken. i will confess, it is not the best steak i have had but it is better than the other chain steakhouses like ruths chris or mortons. but the atmosphere here is fantastic! if you like wine, make a 7 pm reservation but get there at 6 to enjoy the happy hour in the lounge. great bar area with fantastic view of the intercoastal. norman's wines are top notch, highly recommend the petit syrah. the food: the calamari appetizer is prepared perfectly with a unique spicy sauce. the filet mignon is better than average, the prime rib is surperb, and the lobster ravioli was to die for. you will soak up the bisque-sauce with bread, it's that good. finish with the turtle cheesecake but skip the creme brûlée. service here is top notch,diningarea is very comfortable. add the view and you have a great night out from the "great white shark"!!!

bestdiningin myrtle beach.. went here recently on vacation. if you only eat out once in myrtle beach make this the place. the food is excellent. i reccomend sitting out on the deck and enjoying the view. pricey but well worth it.
