courgette

j and i were invited to a milestone birthday dinner at courgette. it had been years since i last dined there so i was really looking forward to it. as there were a few of us dining for dinner, we were seated in thewinecellar. a dangerous place to be in if you love wine. drink orders were taken and i asked whether a mocktail could be made. our waitress informed us that any type of mocktail could be made – did i prefer something fruity? yes, fruity would be wonderful. another person at the table asked for something lemony. my raspberry mocktail came served in awineglass and i was happy with the berry fizz like concoction. no photo sorry.

a nice spot for a special night out although the atmosphere is a bit stuffy - not the chic but casual currently trending, this is old school white table cloths and sparklingwineglasses and trendy cutlery. the food was great with an interesting range of choices and good value for a a four course meal with numerous options each course. only complaint is that my dishes while beautifully cooked were not served very hot. the dessert of mandarin and carrot flavours was the most unique but surprisingly good combo.

absolutely amazing experience! food is awesome can’t keep eating it. they filled you with side bread roll non stop! friendly staff who remember what you said! love thewineselection as well try the italian moscato if you can, it’s not too sweet but easy to go with any food. will definitely come back for a special occasion!

courgette definitely lived up to the hype for me! lovely mid-week night out to celebrate a birthday of a friend. greatwine(!) and even better food. to be expected but the food was delicious and well presented. only thing i didn't love was the cheese plate for dessert seemed to have been prepped a lot earlier (though the presentation was gorgeous!) definitely worth a trip - and they wrote happy birthday on my friend's dessert plate after i told them it was her birthday when booking - added bonus :)

dining experience was delivered by multiple hatted chef.
not the most expensive place i've been, but you'll know you've been there.
totally worth it.
will come back this summer break.

what an extremely enjoyable dining experience. our evening seating was in a separate room surrounded bywineracks albeit somewhat destitute. the 4 course menu each has 3 or 4 choices and each course for me was a tough choice as there is multiple temptations.
my decisions landed on prawn cannoli, seared scallops, lamb chops, and panacotta.
all plates were very good to outstanding. perhaps the dessert was the weakest but by no means a disappointment. the panacotta was extremely delicate and melted away in the mouth.
the scallops were the best i have had in a long while. they are ubiquitous these days but often fail to deliver. these were modest sized, perfectly cooked, firm and tender and had flavour!
the service was attentive but lacked the polish of the food but that is nit picking a little. all around it was a dining pleasure.

i sussed out all of the restaurants in canberra so that i could determine what restaurants to book for my holiday. courgette was my top choice and i did thoroughly enjoy the food. thewinelist was extensive and the menu is vegetarian friendly. the vego options are creative too which is always nice to see. the cheese platter was presented in a wacky and innovative way which was a nice surprise. i went with three other people and we all had a really good experience. the only downer was that the guy serving us was arrogant and very rude at the end. we were having a good time, had drunk multiple bottles ofwineand spent a lot of money... and this guy was practically pushing us out the door. he kept coming over and asking us if he wanted us to get him to call a taxi... er no, no we don't... or we would have asked (obviously!) it wasn't even that late. so it is worth visiting courgette for the food - but the service leaves something to be desired. i expect more from a fine dining establishment.

amazing meals, fantastic service and perfect atmosphere. greatwinelist. the perfect place for a quiet romantic dinner, or if you want to impress someone. not cheap, but you get what you pay for. highly recommend. :-))

superb. had an excellent anniversary dinner at courgette a few nights ago - we both agree one of the best we've ever had. the courses were beautifully presented, a delightful mixture of flavours and textures; thewinewas good though perhaps we could have sought some advice and done better - not their fault. service was perfect - attentive but not fussy. $250 for two, and worth every cent.

one of the best meals we've had in canberra. the food is stunning, with finely balanced flavours and textures, and $80 for four courses represents great value. unfortunately the service was cold at best. after being seated with menus, a few mins later we were asked 'are you ready?' with no explanation of thewinelist or menu whatsoever. water and bread were slow to be refilled, and i was not offered a second glass of wine. disappointing, compared to places that have similar food and get service right, like aubergine, italian and sons and ottoman

just lovely. had a lovely night here. beautiful food and fantasticwinepairing by the som. not too keen on the duck terrine but the night was still splendid.

expensive, and worth it. courgette many years ago was a restaurant with top prices but that tended to just 'miss' - little things were not quite right; the seasoning, a small service error etc. this has all changed.

now it is a top class restaurant with superb service, elegant and restrained, and beautiful food,wineand coffee. and believe me, if i'm paying these prices, i'm fussy. this is definitely a venue to go to if you wish to celebrate a truly meaningful event, impress someone special or simply indulge yourself.

think of it as a culinary pamper session: pricey, luxurious and oh-so-worth-it.

nice, fairly formal affair. excellentwinelist, but in a recent visit i had a number of dishes with poor flavour combinations. my companions had some nice dishes, but nothing outstanding. i'd recommend going for the traditional french style dishes, as they seem better put-together.

anti climax. after many suggested that my partner and i dine here, we did, and not overly impressed. the place needs serious refurbish (must have been an office or business), you can't see the kitchen.... staff were not attentive enough, ordered a bottle ofwineand had to ask for my glass to be refilled every time. had to ask for our bread rolls. over all for what we paid - was not worth it. food was good but nothing blew my mind.

the best. best fine dining in canberra (with aubergine). always have a wonderful night of good food,wineand service.
