courgette

i first visited courgette approximately 3 years ago and the food was amazing! at the time it was 4 courses for $75. 3 years later and i managed to come back around with my husband and it wasn't quite the same. 4 courses now cost $88 (which is still very reasonable!) however it seemed like the focus was more on presentation of thedishesrather than flavours. i personally found the food a bit on the salty side. still very enjoyable with excellent friendly service.

a nice spot for a special night out although the atmosphere is a bit stuffy - not the chic but casual currently trending, this is old school white table cloths and sparkling wine glasses and trendy cutlery. the food was great with an interesting range of choices and good value for a a four course meal with numerous options each course. only complaint is that mydisheswhile beautifully cooked were not served very hot. the dessert of mandarin and carrot flavours was the most unique but surprisingly good combo.

i was really disappointed. neither the taste nor the presentation of thedisheswas up to expectation. the oxtail was too salty and the beef tenderloin was tough. the desert looked good but tasted awful. the orange sorbet tasted so strange that i couldn’t tell it was made from orange. the service was inefficient. i’m not going back to this restaurant again.

had a 4 course meal here that was french in style mixed with modern australian.

the presentation was very nice and all of thedisheswere spot on, definately not your average type and style of food but was worth the experience.

if u make it to canberra its worth a shot!

nice, fairly formal affair. excellent wine list, but in a recent visit i had a number ofdisheswith poor flavour combinations. my companions had some nice dishes, but nothing outstanding. i'd recommend going for the traditional french style dishes, as they seem better put-together.

pretty, tasty.... when i feel like splurging a little, i always go to courgette. wait staff are professional, friendly and attentive. you can be sure yourdisheswill taste as good as they look. small portions, but hey, that's gourmet! top quality ingredients, and one of my favourite things to eat there is (believe or not) the smoked butter that comes with the warm bread rolls...heaven!

hits all the right spots!. courgette truly deserves its standing as one of canberra's great fine dining restaurants. service is terrific, attentive and were always willing to explain the menu and answer any questions we had. the 4 course menu for $80 offers exceptional value for money and makes this a fine dining experience a wonderful treat that won't leave you penniless. in terms of food; one cannot fault courgette for knowing how to make unusual flavours and textures work brilliantly; everything we had was delicious and tasted fresh while the presentation ofdisheswas simply beautiful. we waited for a relatively longer period than normal in betweendishes(compared with other experiences) however i felt that waiting a little longer in betweendishesworked well as it gave one enough time to savour their previous meal and begin to get excited about the next offering.

what i would suggest is that courgette tries to ensure that it is a little more prompt in getting an initial drink order off its diners after they are seated as we had to wait a bit too long to get drinks, however besides this tiny blight our experience was simply amazing and i would highly recommend courgette to anyone seeking a fabulous experience and wanting to highlight a special event in their life!

had a lovely meal, each course was delicious and novel. service was attentive and friendly, even ifdisheswere a little slow in coming out. prices high but not outrageous. highly recommend.

a little off. maybe we came on the wrong night, or maybe this restaurant is unfriendly to groups. i certainly could not see the chefs hat reflected in service nor food.

we came with a group of 9. somehow they failed to advise us that groups of 8 and above would not have the full menu made available to us. only a selection of threedishesfrom each course were made available. i requested to have a dessert that was not on our limited selection menu, but available on the full menu, and was declined. i've been to many chef hat restaurants and am very surprised by the rigidity of the kitchen to stick to our limited menu, especially when other diners were privy to the full selection.

i understand limiting the selection for groups allow for good time management in the kitchen, but if you're a hatted restaurant, you need to manage resources have be able to satisfy all customers.

the food came out at a decent rate, but i did not enjoy it. it lacked the creativity or depth that i expected.
