top points for food! i was utterly impressed by three out of my four courses. and at $75 for four courses i thought this was some of the best value fine dining in canberra. in addition, the restaurant had a lovely ambiance which i truly enjoyed. however, the service was rather unimpressive and unacceptable, which somewhat spoiled the entire experience for me. i won't be in a hurry to return as a result and still rate aubergine and sage as my top two fine dining venues in canberra for their fine food and equally fine service to match.

their 4-course dinner menu at a$75 is cheap – for a french fine-dining restaurant, that is.

course 1: i really like the presentation (my iphone 4s didn’t do justice). i can almost feel the jelly melting in my mouth. anyway, my companion who had this said that the crab was very fresh and she liked it!

the blessing & the curse. blessing: the food is excellent.
curse: the kitchen is slow.
the front floor staff is really good, so you almost don't mind the long waits between courses (4 for $75).
it is better than aubergine but only by a smidgeon.
the master chef needs to rethink his food flow.

deserves it's best in canberra rating. beautifully prepared, presented and tasty food. pork belly simply delicious, as is the crusted beef. save room for dessert as they are a real highlight - white chocolate, caramel and bananas is simply sensational. topped with a great wine list this is unquestionably the best restaurant in canberra, and holds its own against what's on offer in melbourne and sydney.

yum. had a first wedding anniversary here with husband. i absolutely love it. one of the best dining experience i've ever had. restaurant has a nice ambiance, service is all right.
we had the 4 courses dinner for $75 each person, which i think is reasonably priced. i had foie gras, pork belly, salmon and almond and pear dessert. foie gras was beautiful, i love it (but not everyone like foie gras in general). pork belly was so-so. salmon was a winning dish. it's so smooth and tasty. it doesn't look like your average salmon dish. but definitely one of the best salmon dish i've ever had in my life. almond and pear dessert was not my fave, but then again i'm not a big fan of desserts.
husband had scallop n trout, lamb cutlet, angus beef and coffee souffle. all of them were great, but angus beef was his least favorite.
definitely would eat here again for the next special occasion.

i left with a whole in my pocket. great service, great food!

every single three course menu dish, of course not including drinks came out looking and tasting superb.

add the bottles of red, beers and tips and you're bound to leave with a hole in your pocket but totally justified with the table service and manners of the place.

the setting was very sparse, tables were scattered without any real co-ordination so not that appealing to the eyes but if you get a seat where you can see the court yard, its beautiful.

the panna cotta was an absolutely divine with a tinge of citrus tang, mind you, this is coming from a savoury lover...

i start with the blue swimmer crab with avocado, tomato jelly, celery and lime mayo ... an excellent start with it's classic flavour combinations and crystal clear flavours.

8 of us dined here and we were seated in the private wine room. perfect as we had a pram with a baby in it. the wait staff were attentive and friendly which set the scene beautifully. we had the 4 course menu for $75. it was delicious. each person was left satisfied and full. we absolutely loved every meal that came to the table and enjoyed the wine selection too. in canberra??? courgettes for sure!

with hummus, white beans, baby coriander and balsamic reduction, this dish was as visually appealing as it was tasty.

i heard this restaurant was good through a friend, so i booked a table for two a month in adcance for my wedding anniversary. when we showed up on the night, the manager tokd me he gave away our table...? i was lost for words! i heard this restaurant was a 1 hat restaurant... but i have been to 1 and 2 hat resturants before... and never had this problem. to add to my embarrasment, the manager proceeded to blame this situation on me, as he tried to call me earlier in the day (during work hours) and he could not get on to me. at tgis point, i started to wonder.... am i in a seinfeld episode.... am i on candid camera...? the answer to both is a big.... no!!! the manager was serious and i, the customer, was left standing there in dis-belief and very embarrased by the whole thing. so the question is, would i recomend this place to anyone? simply my answer is no! i couldn't even get my table, that i booked one month in advance, so how could i recomend this restaurant to anyone else...
