though the time taken to refill the chicken dishes is a bit too long.

we actually gave a party to our seniors so thought of making it a grand buffet.
but the food is not as tasty as the price.
the ambience was neat and fine.
the place is a one time visit for me!

first trip to mangalore and i was really excited. and as expected when i enquires about the food, everyone told me the same thing. you will get fish, the best one you have eaten in ages. well i am not a big fish lover, let alone a small one. he he.
but as i love and respect regional food i promised people to give it a shot.
some local people took us to this place called coral, a restaurant in the hotel oceans pearl. so it made sense. where there is ocean, corals and pearls there has to has fish and crabs and prawns.
the ambience is decent and can be better. the decor was little bit strange with balloons all around the place. but i was there to taste something mangalorian. the real deal was the fish. so without opening the menu out host ordered a plate of surmai fish and prawns. i can tell you that the taste was so good that i forgot to take the pictures. my bad.
the size of prawns they served was big as compared to what they serve here in pune or konkan. the masala was just right which tingles your taste buds and the fish was so fresh, it melted the moment i put it in my mouth.
then came the real show stopper. it's called kori roti. it's like a crispy rice batter roti, broken into pieces and you have to pour the mangalorian style chicken with gravy on the top and eat with hands. the whole experience was mind blowing. never had such a combo. a must try people.
to finish the dinner we ordered the famous curd rice. smooth texture, soothing taste, felt like i am in food heaven.
the service was little lax but in a city like mangalore and tasty food you can ignore it.

good place with a nice ambience. have been visiting this place since 5 years and its a great place to be.the food is good and the staff courteous.weekends can get too crowded at times and there tends to be a long wait for tables so make sure u r there early.the food i would recommend at this place is indian and mangalorean cuisine though pretty much of whatever is available is all good.special mention of their biryani which is quite wonderful.
cons: ambience is very poorly devoid of natural light.
its the same ambience since 6 years. badly needs a makeover.

good place. awesome ambience. offers a wide range of cuisines to choose- from indian to chinese, asian, mediterranean, italian etc.
their chopsueys are awesome.

i never expected to get such good food here. having tried variety of dishes from north indian, continental, chinese and others, one can safely try whatever one wants here. the shanghai potato is superb, a little greasy but worth an order. the pindi chana is also one to look for. though all dishes are prepared well, one negative point is their preparation in coconut oil which overpowers the lingering after taste lingering taste that i would not want. the service and ambience both are above average but not great.
visit this place for sure if you are in mangalore.

too sophisticated. all major formal events are done here. food is average . some dishes are dere specialty like biryani n sea food . most of time dey organise food festival so it's fun to try new cuisine in city thanx to the hotel.

unpredictability is something one doesn't look for when it comes to at a dining experience. the positioning of the waiters counter makes it hard to reach them at all times. the dishes taste differently, but only sometimes. and, the disappointing quantity doesn't match up with the quoted price.

however, when all the wheels are greased and everything's running good, the food, especially the mediterraneian and north indian options are hard to resist.

the food is delicious and nice place to go during weekends

coral is a great place for dining with good ambiance and service. south indian chicken biryani(thalassery biryani)  is delicious and they serve good portion rice and veg biryani is littile bit spicy compared to other ones overall

coral happens to be another personal favorite of mine for a nice cozy family dinner, and also to order in. their butter chicken (which makes a sinful combo with their cheese kulcha) happens to be one of the best i've eaten in mangalore, and their chicken ghee roast stands up with the best. i also recommend their chicken kundapuri and prawns gassi which make an absolutely delightful combination with their appams. also, do try the mutton biryani, and the crispy honey chicken. add to that, the fantastic ambiance and the attentive, yet non-intrusive service and you have an impeccable dining experience.

was in mangalore to see my boyfriend on valentine's night and was damn hungry. checked into coral, ocean pearl. was greeted by a welcoming wait staff and a romantic decor, and ordered shiraz which added to the mood. for starters i ordered onion rings and potato fries which i enjoy all the time! for main course i ordered paneer butter masala and butter naan. the paneer dish didn't taste as its name at all. the company and ambiance saved the night!

it was my brothers engagement, and the ceremony ended up being at ocean pearl with coral restaurant serving the food for the occassion. we had a large spread of buffet that consisted,

there were many more items and i just dont remember them nor i got a few to eat coz of all the duties as a best man i was supposed to do. anyways, back to food, it was amazing and reat coz i saw a lot of people, starting their food with fork and spoon, moving to fingers, and ending up licking their fingers. for an indian, that says it all, but if you are not, ask an indian :p

just loved these dishes and salad's, but couldnt have in great quanity coz of the function. neverthless would always suggest you to do make it for this restuarant, while i would be also doing so, pretty soon, to try out these delicacies, this time in peace and no fuctions attached. stop drooling over my review and go ahead and have something to eat.

been here couple of times now. while the food has generally been good , our last visit was a disappointment.we ordered chicken 65 as our kid loves it.it was a major disappointment as the taste was not at all good. the anjal fry was also very average.curd rice was also watery.

the service was as usual great and food was served in good time.will try this place one more time !!

came to this place on a friends recommendation. i wanted to try some tasty mangloreon seafood and this place lived upto its expectations. the anjal masala dry was tasty. though it looked spicy red the masala wasnt that spicy and that was great. the fish was fresh too. the chicken ghee roast was a little sweet for my pallette. the prawns gassi was a thick coconut based gravy with big prawns.
lastly we tried the mini gadbaad. i suggest you have that at a place that is known to make goof gadbaads.

however the experience was good. a nice place for people who want to try good mangloreon food
