best fish tacos i've had on maui to date, a mix ofmahimahi and ono (wahoo for us mainlanders) the decor is fun, eating on surfboard tables and benches and getting to share the experience with other diners is part of the fun. there is a line up and a bit of a wait but for good reason, great staff aeemed very appreciative of our visit and actually thanked us for coming.

fish tacos are awesome. we loved them! daughter got coconut shrimp, son gotmahisandwich, everyone should have gotten the fish tacos. probably the best i’ve had.

a casual restaurant right across the street from one of the best (sunset) beaches in maui.
place order at counter and find a seat at a wood carved surfboard table. the line moves fairly quickly. worth the wait. service is on point.
famous for their seafood, mainly the fish tacos.
thick meaty cubes of freshmahimahi and ono, a light coconut milk mayo coleslaw, and a generous topping of mango tomato salsa in a lightly crisp warm double corn tortilla...
a delicious handful. the smart hawaiian twist of using coconut milk instead of conventional mayo makes it surprisingly light tasting, not heavy at all.
i folded in half and enjoyed every messy bite.
tip: use a fork to help lighten the load of toppings!
you get to savour two times ($12.75 for twin tacos - may seem pricey but flavourful and very filling). colourful, bright, light and fresh - a symbol of everything that is maui!
we all agreed it was the best fish taco we've eaten on the island.
we also tried the coconut shrimp with shaved coconut, battered and fried to crispy perfection served with pineapple chili sauce, and it too was finger licking good.
the food was so tasty we went back the next day.
oh and coconut’s is named in honour of the family kitty cat (who passed away this past november - rip coconut).
we give coconut’s cafe two thumbs wayyyy up, shaka-style.

great place if you're on the go or wanting something really quick. service was good and food came out quickly. fish tacos were cooked perfectly as was themahimahi fish.

heard all of the talk about coconuts being a must visit. they did not disappoint. tried themahimahi sandwich, delicious, fresh.
plus the owner is a san francisco giants fan, so that helps!

fun atmosphere, fast service and food for everyone. my son had chicken alfredo, it was shockingly delicious. this was a huge portion that could be shared. i had the taco mountain, it was missing a tortilla, and when asked if i could buy some was told no, with that being said it was still amazing. get the seafood chowder it is amazing. the fish and chips was mediocre and get the blackenedmahimahi it's pretty good.

tasty tasty fish tacos! we also got themahimahi fish burger and it was delicious too. huge portions of fish you don't feel like they skimped on the fish at all. we'll be back for sure!

coconuts review. absolutely phenomenal. my wife and i ate there 3 times between june 14-21 and the fish tacos are unmatched. the shrimp appetizer was good with a delicious dipping sauce and the blackenedmahimahi sandwich was also very good. while we were there, the owner spoke with us every time. we also had the pleasure of jazz musician phil smith playing his sax while we ate. thanks for a memorable dining experience.

my husband and i tried the "fish taco mountain"...delicious! it's everything you find on the fish tacos heaped over brown rice (minus the tortilla)..if you're someone who isn't a fan of the messy taco experience or gluten free, this is for you! it's also big enough to share or take some home for left overs..the employees were also very nice..we'll definitely be back.

update (2017):
my husband and i have dine here regularly since my first post and they have been consistent since then. i generally still order the "fish taco mountain"...my husband has tried the tacos and a few of the salads and has not been disappointed.

i also love that they have a few great children's menu choices. i am not a fan of the typical breaded chicken nuggets or mac and cheese fare you generally see on children's menus.. my son loves the grilledmahimahi available in kids size.

really good fish tacos and fishburgers. if you want really fresh fish, done really well this is the place. very casual atmosphere, a couple of outdoor tables. inside the restaurant is usually warm and the seats are not the most comfortable. but wow the food is good. we have been here several times during our two stays on the island and have not been dissapointed yet. i recommend themahimahi fish tacos, super ono. the calamari and fish and chips are very good too. staff is friendly and we have met the owner a couple of times now, very pleasant casual dining experience at good prices - you won't go wrong here.

absolutely the greatest fish tacos around! everything is prepared from scratch from fresh island ingredients. today's fish and chips basket contained lightly breaded ono,mahimahi, and opakapaka!
