i brought my mom here for a seafood tower on her birthday for the second year in a row. last year was really good, i would say 4.5 out of 5. this year, not impressed. the scallops had a strong ammonia taste, indicating that they had gone bad. the waitress tried to tell me that they had a strong flavour because they were served raw. um, no. i know what raw scallops are supposed to taste like. she did replace the scallops with extra tuna poke, but again tried to convince me that the scallops were fresh and the strong taste was due to the preparation. oyster shucking was sloppy, many shell fragments, both in the seafood tower and the happy hour oysters that we ordered. we were treated to a free dessert for my mom's birthday, which was nice, but the decline in quality from last year was disappointing. there are many amazing restaurants in vancouver, won't be back to this one.

good food, bad service. we have a 15 people table and the waiter was impatient when taking down and sorting the orders. when we pay for our bill, we had an additional drink that was not a part of our order. after we paid the waiter we were told " well, you guys have to take care of it yourselves." from the amount of money we paid, i expect a better service rather than "taking care of ourselves". what an attitude! mr. waiter, i know you are annoyed but considering the tip you're making from 15 of us, we don't deserve an attitude from you.

there must be better in vancouver. i was eager to taste the highly praised flavors that were being talked about around town. first thing most will notice is how loud the atmosphere is, which works for some events, but not for those requiring intimate conversations… or conversation at all. the service was haphazard, as our server came by very infrequently and always seemed distracted by more "important things" happening in the restaurant. i'd have to agree with other reviewers that they put more of their focus and energy towards serving groups that looked 'hi-profile.' absolutely dismal service.

we ordered the chilled seafood platter for 4, but upon finishing it was probably only good for 2. the texture of the crabs and lobster suggested an extended stay in the crustacean tank. the tiger shrimp were large and plump though, and the oysters were also good. the 28oz. steak was also delicious.

in the end, for the amount paid we certainly did not leave feeling full. we will be taking our business elsewhere.

great service and amazingly fresh food. amazing food, fantastic service and reasonably priced

on my recent visit to vancouver i wanted to get the opportunity to try some fresh local seafood upon asking several locals and my hotel concierge and coast came out on top as the place to go.

i was very happy that this is where i ended up the food was amazing the service was fantastic, my server kailey was exceptional very quick service and great suggestions and had a lot of insight into the food origin i hope to go back soon.

my meal:

drink:
the ceasar which was a perfect balance of smooth and spicy,

main:
the grilled wild salmon with green and potato, everything was fresh perfectly cooked and the flavor very balanced.

dessert:
papaya sorbet a perfect fresh end to a great meal

lobster poutine. i've been here twice before and have had mixed reviews on this place. the first time i went, the service was great and the food was fantastic. i love the lobster poutine! the second time i went, the music was unbearably loud, our waitress was unattentive and even stopped serving our table after we told her one of the mussels were smelly. she just stopped serving us! our food took forever to come out of the kitchen, we waited an hour for our entrees! it was ridiculous! our drinks took another 30-40 min to arrive as well. i think this place is a real hit and miss. i think the first time we went it was on a slower night, which can account for the faster food and better service. the second time was on a weekend or something, but it was a huge disappoint that food and service was so bad.

not worth the $$$$. appetizers were good but not the main dishes. and they play really loud dance music all the time. seems like they are trying too hard in some kinda douche way. for quality seafood with that price in downtown, i'd rather go to blue water cafe or joe fortes.

dinner for 4 at coast last night.  fine dinning?
if only it were so.  embarrassing the
number of times crawford, the server, apologized.  he is/was incompetent.  way too casual.  slow and sloppy would describe the
service.

best that can be said about the food is average.
the sablefish wasn’t cooked thru (after so many screw up, one eats the edges and wants to get the hell outta there).  salmon was overdone.  tuna left my wife with an upset stomach for
the rest of the night.

terrible experience. never to return.

fabulous seafood selection and great service. went there for dineout but their regular menu was so attractive we ended up ordering off it instead. lobster chowder and mussels were awesome. great service since the mr and i wanted to share the soup it came out split into two bowls. would definitely go back again and again.

the food is nothing spectacular, but they need to do something about their valets. i saw them texting on the middle of the street and cussing at people who tried to turn into the parking lot which they have  blocked with other customer's car.  not impressed.

happy hour/cocktail hour at coast restaurant

happy hour 3:00 - 5:30 pm every day

we came back for happy hour after having a great dinner party at coast. however, it was a disappointed dinning.

food and services are average.

personal suggestion: none on the cocktail hour menu. 😕

shopping in the robson/burrard area on a saturday and looking for food at 2pm. so glad we caught the weekend brunch at coast. i was pleasantly surprised with the crab and roasted pepper bennys. although i must say the tater tots reminded me of the frozen ones.... the ariel was a nice bubbly mid afternoon drink. the $10 benny special is a good bang for your buck especially given the nice establishment in the downtown core with professional staff. would definitely come back.

saturday night dinner my 2 other foodie friends. we came during the dine out vancouver event so we get 3 courses for the price of $45. there are also additional add-ons to the dineout menu so we all chose the tuna tataki + salmon maki for an extra $10. one of my friend even added the wine pairing option ($25) but since i'm driving i passed this time. i really liked the sauce that came with the lobster, it's butternut squash mixed with butter so it was sweet and creamy (btw i think i was pretty skillful separating the lobster tail from the shell in 1 whole piece). after tax and tips it ended up to be $70 for me.
