great service and amazingly fresh food. amazing food, fantastic service and reasonably priced

on my recent visit to vancouver i wanted to get the opportunity to try some fresh local seafood upon asking several locals and my hotel concierge and coast came out on top as the place to go.

i was very happy that this is where i ended up thefoodwas amazing the service was fantastic, my server kailey was exceptional very quick service and great suggestions and had a lot of insight into thefoodorigin i hope to go back soon.

the ceasar which was a perfect balance of smooth and spicy,

main:
the grilled wild salmon with green and potato, everything was fresh perfectly cooked and the flavor very balanced.

dessert:
papaya sorbet a perfect fresh end to a great meal

lobster poutine. i've been here twice before and have had mixed reviews on this place. the first time i went, the service was great and thefoodwas fantastic. i love the lobster poutine! the second time i went, the music was unbearably loud, our waitress was unattentive and even stopped serving our table after we told her one of the mussels were smelly. she just stopped serving us! ourfoodtook forever to come out of the kitchen, we waited an hour for our entrees! it was ridiculous! our drinks took another 30-40 min to arrive as well. i think this place is a real hit and miss. i think the first time we went it was on a slower night, which can account for the fasterfoodand better service. the second time was on a weekend or something, but it was a huge disappoint thatfoodand service was so bad.

if only it were so.  embarrassing the
number of times crawford, the server, apologized.  he is/was incompetent.  way too casual.  slow and sloppy would describe the
service. 

 

best that can be said about thefoodis average. 
the sablefish wasn’t cooked thru (after so many screw up, one eats the edges and wants to get the hell outta there).  salmon was overdone.  tuna left my wife with an upset stomach for
the rest of the night.

 

terrible experience. never to return.

thefoodis nothing spectacular, but they need to do something about their valets. i saw them texting on the middle of the street and cussing at people who tried to turn into the parking lot which they have  blocked with other customer's car.  not impressed.

coast restaurant is under glowbal restaurant group, and it is located on alberni street.

happy hour/cocktail hour at coast restaurant

happy hour 3:00 - 5:30 pm every day

we came back for happy hour after having a great dinner party at coast. however, it was a disappointed dinning.

food and services are average.

personal suggestion: none on the cocktail hour menu. 😕

good not great. i was pleased with the staff and service but nothing that i had was over the top good. i feel i could go elsewhere for less and receive the same. if it's date night and seefoodis whats needed i'll spend the extra to dine on alberni.

i may return

shopping in the robson/burrard area on a saturday and looking forfoodat 2pm. so glad we caught the weekend brunch at coast. i was pleasantly surprised with the crab and roasted pepper bennys. although i must say the tater tots reminded me of the frozen ones.... the ariel was a nice bubbly mid afternoon drink. the $10 benny special is a good bang for your buck especially given the nice establishment in the downtown core with professional staff. would definitely come back.

we went towards the tail end of the happy hour.

the service was attentive. though we found the oysters decent quality but not great. the calamari a bit on the soft side and not chewy. the otherfoodwas of decent quality yet a bit small for its pricing.

great service, i always feel super welcomed every time i go. thefoodis also spectacular. always fresh oysters, happy hour menu is amazing. the crab dip is to die for, the kale hearts and brussel sprouts are also very good. beef carparccio is very tender and fresh with edamame beans which i lovee, i do however wish the bread which comes with it was a bit softer. the chefs special roll is always fresh and very good each time i’ve been. and the taco is probably one of the best tacos i’ve ever had!

i went to coast for dine out this year cause my boyfriend said he saw an excerpt about it on global news and said it looked pretty good.

overallfoodwas decent.. i wasn't totally blown away with my mussels and the flat bread was pretty good.

my boyfriends dine out was ok. his steak was a bit salty from the bacon wrapped around it.. and portion wise, it didn't look as big as on tv.

service was ok....

the stars i gave were for the restaurant's atmosphere. thefoodwas extremely disappointing (although we had very limited exposure to their menu). group of 8 adults there for a fixed menu of prime rib and crab. no choice offered on the doneness of the prime rib. all 8 given a raw and fatty slab. as far as i know, 3 of the 4 men felt sick afterward (i haven't asked the 4th guy if he felt sick). my wife felt sick too. she called them the next day and the hostess was dismissive of her concern---suggested she might have had the flu and offered her the phone number for vancouver coastal health when she suggested thefoodquality was sub-par. there will be those who crave this sort of meat but we found the dinner expensive and pretty gross.

the service was excellent, however atmosphere was very loud, hard to actually visit /socialize with your group.foodwas hit and miss, some things prepared well line the appetizer mussels, fries were ok but very salty. fish and chips comes with one small piece of fish and mostly fries... seafood plate to share that a family member ordered, came with 1 lobster claw (pretty sure they have 2 naturally, perfect for a share plate??) salmon was dry, risotto undercooked. restaurant did nothing to compensate once informed.
i think this restaurant is overrated and there are some much better, lesser known seafood restaurants to enjoy. (with betterfoodand smaller price tag)

part of the glowbal group, coast markets themselves as serving the freshest seafood hence their restaurant name “coast”, likefoodcoming from the coastlines. came here for a friend’s surprise engagement dinner so we had a private area and had a few tables to ourselves. besides the food, everything else was fantastic here.

beautiful decore & chic atmosphere, goodfood(not extraordinary), and very slow service. we enjoyed our time because we were having great conversation and wine but it was a looong meal and i wouldn't go back again

i love seafood and my primary diet consists of seafood. i have been to coast twice and have ordered their lobster, salmon flatbread, salads and chowder. having had fresh nova scotia lobster in halifax, every time i felt satisfied with thefoodbut never amazed. it never tasted like it was worth what i was paying for or that there was a whole lot of innovation but it was fresh and what you would expect from a glowbal chain restaurant.
