coast restaurant

good food, bad service. we have a 15 people table and the waiter was impatient when taking down and sorting the orders. when we pay for our bill, we had an additional drink that was not a part of our order. after we paid the waiter we were told " well, you guys have to take care of it yourselves." from the amount of money we paid, i expect a betterservicerather than "taking care of ourselves". what an attitude! mr. waiter, i know you are annoyed but considering the tip you're making from 15 of us, we don't deserve an attitude from you.

there must be better in vancouver. i was eager to taste the highly praised flavors that were being talked about around town. first thing most will notice is how loud the atmosphere is, which works for some events, but not for those requiring intimate conversations… or conversation at all. theservicewas haphazard, as our server came by very infrequently and always seemed distracted by more "important things" happening in the restaurant. i'd have to agree with other reviewers that they put more of their focus and energy towards serving groups that looked 'hi-profile.' absolutely dismal service.

we ordered the chilled seafood platter for 4, but upon finishing it was probably only good for 2. the texture of the crabs and lobster suggested an extended stay in the crustacean tank. the tiger shrimp were large and plump though, and the oysters were also good. the 28oz. steak was also delicious.

in the end, for the amount paid we certainly did not leave feeling full. we will be taking our business elsewhere.

i was very happy that this is where i ended up the food was amazing theservicewas fantastic, my server kailey was exceptional very quickserviceand great suggestions and had a lot of insight into the food origin i hope to go back soon.

lobster poutine. i've been here twice before and have had mixed reviews on this place. the first time i went, theservicewas great and the food was fantastic. i love the lobster poutine! the second time i went, the music was unbearably loud, our waitress was unattentive and even stopped serving our table after we told her one of the mussels were smelly. she just stopped serving us! our food took forever to come out of the kitchen, we waited an hour for our entrees! it was ridiculous! our drinks took another 30-40 min to arrive as well. i think this place is a real hit and miss. i think the first time we went it was on a slower night, which can account for the faster food and better service. the second time was on a weekend or something, but it was a huge disappoint that food andservicewas so bad.

fabulous seafood selection and great service. went there for dineout but their regular menu was so attractive we ended up ordering off it instead. lobster chowder and mussels were awesome. greatservicesince the mr and i wanted to share the soup it came out split into two bowls. would definitely go back again and again.

good not great. i was pleased with the staff andservicebut nothing that i had was over the top good. i feel i could go elsewhere for less and receive the same. if it's date night and see food is whats needed i'll spend the extra to dine on alberni.

we went towards the tail end of the happy hour.

theservicewas attentive. though we found the oysters decent quality but not great. the calamari a bit on the soft side and not chewy. the other food was of decent quality yet a bit small for its pricing.

we went to coast recently for happy hour. they have an extensive menu with lots of great options and large portions perfect for sharing. oysters are a great deal although the sizes of them seemed to vary quite significantly.servicewas excellent, even with us sitting outside on the patio.

unfortunately this place has gone down in quality - theserviceis relatively good, however the new menu is not great. the ahi tuna poke was absolutely tasteless, the vancouverite cocktail lacked flavour, and mussels came in a very small bowl with no side empty bowl for the waste. i expected much higher quality from a glowbal group restaurant.

theservicewas excellent, however atmosphere was very loud, hard to actually visit /socialize with your group. food was hit and miss, some things prepared well line the appetizer mussels, fries were ok but very salty. fish and chips comes with one small piece of fish and mostly fries... seafood plate to share that a family member ordered, came with 1 lobster claw (pretty sure they have 2 naturally, perfect for a share plate??) salmon was dry, risotto undercooked. restaurant did nothing to compensate once informed.
i think this restaurant is overrated and there are some much better, lesser known seafood restaurants to enjoy. (with better food and smaller price tag)

seafood was good and the fish was not over cooked!! the place was busy but the food came out at a reasonable time. theservicewas great from the hostess to the server. awesome job!

back when i used to work in downtown, i had the pleasure of going to coast for lunch. it was my second time here, and i suggested this place because i had a wonderful experience the first time i went. from the atmosphere toserviceto food, everything was exceptionally done (the second time i came which is what the review is based on, the third time was not good).

service went downhill along with the quality of food.

i had a hankering for seafood close to lunch. i've had dinner here many times but never lunch. so i called in advance cause you never know, this place is always crazy busy at night but i just don't know what the buisness lunch crowd is like. so my server tells me the feature is a seafood pasta, perfect! my lunch came quickly, only ten minutes with a crowd of say 30 people in house that i see. delicious feature.serviceprompt and fast, i think cause it wasn't as busy but i'm happy.

i had a really great experience here! theservicewas next to none and it really felt like the staff cared about the experience. the server explained the new menu and asked for feedback at the end. i had the blackened smaller and guest had the seafood strew. was very delicious. i was surprised how reasonable the prices were for that area as well. i'll be back!

we went to coast for dinner, and the order was taking a long time. the server and chef both apologized for the long wait. afterwards, the server provided us with a complimentary glass of champagne and dessert after our meal. the chef had also made us a large assortment of desserts and brought it to our table as well. we were very impressed with the professionalism andservicethe staff had provided. the manager had also come around to our table to ask us how our meal was. we will definitely be coming back to coast!

loved the caesar salad here as well!
