we went towards the tail end of the happy hour.

the service was attentive. though we found the oysters decent quality but not great. the calamari a bit on the soft side and not chewy. the other food was of decent quality yet a bit small for its pricing.

we went to coast recently for happy hour. they have an extensive menu with lots of great options and large portions perfect for sharing. oysters are a great deal although the sizes of them seemed to vary quite significantly. service was excellent, even with us sitting outside on the patio.

feeling materialistic lately, which has led to a lot of online window shopping instead of sleeping. this might be caused by too much television. i also had dinner at coast, for a friend’s birthday party, which has inspired me to act more lavishly than usual. i met a few new friends there, and it’s inspired me to be more ambition than before. they’re a bit older, they dress nicely, and the servers at coast know them by name! if that’s not a sign of societal success, i’m not sure what is…

i took my bf here for a celebration. it’s a bit pricey but we really enjoyed our meal. for appys, we had a few oysters, hamachi and toro nigri and tuna sashimi. everything was super fresh and delicious. the main course took awhile and our waiter brandon actually brought us some sushi rolls to compensate for the waiting time. for the main course, i ordered the maple sablefish and bf ordered the scallops. the sablefish was absolutely divine. it was very tender and well worth the wait. we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back :)

great service, i always feel super welcomed every time i go. the food is also spectacular. always fresh oysters, happy hour menu is amazing. the crab dip is to die for, the kale hearts and brussel sprouts are also very good. beef carparccio is very tender and fresh with edamame beans which i lovee, i do however wish the bread which comes with it was a bit softer. the chefs special roll is always fresh and very good each time i’ve been. and the taco is probably one of the best tacos i’ve ever had!

unfortunately this place has gone down in quality - the service is relatively good, however the new menu is not great. the ahi tuna poke was absolutely tasteless, the vancouverite cocktail lacked flavour, and mussels came in a very small bowl with no side empty bowl for the waste. i expected much higher quality from a glowbal group restaurant.

i met up with q this week for a long due catch up date. we made it with one minute to spare, so we managed to get a drink order in at their cocktail hour pricing. what we drank: white sangria ($5 – during happy hour). this was pretty standard, personally i prefer the sangria at west oak. what i ate: thai coconut curry mussels – lemongrass, ginger, chili, lime ($21.95)

i went to coast for dine out this year cause my boyfriend said he saw an excerpt about it on global news and said it looked pretty good.

overall food was decent.. i wasn't totally blown away with my mussels and the flat bread was pretty good.

my boyfriends dine out was ok. his steak was a bit salty from the bacon wrapped around it.. and portion wise, it didn't look as big as on tv.

service was ok....

i went to coast on december 23, 2016. it was so terrible that i actually signed up for this yelp account. first we ordered our food. to start we got a caesar salad with a skewer of prawns. what came was a salad with one prawn. they came and brought two more prawns about 10-15 minutes later when the salads was basically eaten. next we waited for another hour for our main dishes. my wife got the sable fish and i ordered some sashimi and a side of rice and french fries. after waiting over an hour, we finally got to taste the food. the sashimi did not seem fully thawed and the sable fish tasted like it had gone bad. my wife sent back the sable fish after having a couple bites and ordered the sticky toffee pudding. the dessert came and it was mediocre at best. then when the bill came they charged us for everything (even the sable fish we sent back). at that point we just wanted to leave, we paid the bill and left. never going back, that is for sure.

the stars i gave were for the restaurant's atmosphere. the food was extremely disappointing (although we had very limited exposure to their menu). group of 8 adults there for a fixed menu of prime rib and crab. no choice offered on the doneness of the prime rib. all 8 given a raw and fatty slab. as far as i know, 3 of the 4 men felt sick afterward (i haven't asked the 4th guy if he felt sick). my wife felt sick too. she called them the next day and the hostess was dismissive of her concern---suggested she might have had the flu and offered her the phone number for vancouver coastal health when she suggested the food quality was sub-par. there will be those who crave this sort of meat but we found the dinner expensive and pretty gross.

the service was excellent, however atmosphere was very loud, hard to actually visit /socialize with your group. food was hit and miss, some things prepared well line the appetizer mussels, fries were ok but very salty. fish and chips comes with one small piece of fish and mostly fries... seafood plate to share that a family member ordered, came with 1 lobster claw (pretty sure they have 2 naturally, perfect for a share plate??) salmon was dry, risotto undercooked. restaurant did nothing to compensate once informed.
i think this restaurant is overrated and there are some much better, lesser known seafood restaurants to enjoy. (with better food and smaller price tag)

part of the glowbal group, coast markets themselves as serving the freshest seafood hence their restaurant name “coast”, like food coming from the coastlines. came here for a friend’s surprise engagement dinner so we had a private area and had a few tables to ourselves. besides the food, everything else was fantastic here.

this was our first visit to coast.

starters: crab cakes. 10/10!
entrées: we had the spicy seafood stew and the daily special of halibut with vegetables and beurre blanc sauce. both were well done. would have like to have seen more clams/prawns in the stew and the broth could have used a dash of salt.
dessert: the coconut banana butter cake recommended by the waiter and it was divine!

our waiter was also very friendly and added to our amazing experience. a bit pricey but worth the experience. however, probably won't order the overpriced drinks next time.

coast is my favourite glowbal collection restaurant and the reason as to why will sound pretty silly. it is my favourite restaurant out of the collection because the hostesses are very well trained! every time i pass by coast or before entering, the hostesses always smile and say hello every single time. every. singe. time. including whenever i am only passing by and have no intention of dining at the restaurant. yet i can never say the same for black + blue or italian kitchen, including when i have plans to dine at those restaurants! weird right? i honestly love the hostesses at coast.

beautiful decore & chic atmosphere, good food (not extraordinary), and very slow service. we enjoyed our time because we were having great conversation and wine but it was a looong meal and i wouldn't go back again
