i recommend this place to everyone who will listen. i wish i could eat here every day. if you like places like cafe rio, just eat here instead. way better. i like the stuff that has the most fresh ingredients, like the nachos or salad or something. all ingredients are very fresh and good quality and they don't skimp on dishing them out. that's why my favorite thing to get is the nachos al pastor. tons of cheese, avacado, meat, and not filled with mostly rice like cafe rio stuff can be. i can make anything i get here into two meals, one the next day from my leftovers. another crazy delicious thing is their fresh juice. i don't know how they do it but it tastes real and amazing, no matter the time of year too. i know people like the hot meals liketacosand stuff but i seriously love all the stuff they put in the nachos better than anything else. the atmosphere is cool too. i just sit back and admire the way the family runs such a nice little place together and with such high quality food. gotta love the guys' signature spiky hair too. awesome. oh, don't forget to get a loyalty card, you'll be back.

...try the al pastor (spit grilled pork) on whatever dish i decided to go with… so i went with thetacosal pastor. they did not disappoint. the spicy pork went really well with the sweet pineapple chunks. i’d also recommend trying the chips and salsa and asking to sample all 4 salsas. save some to pour on top of your tacos.

had high expectations after all the positive reviews. had the burrito al pastor, and while it was good, it wasn't as good as lone star taqueria. i will try thetacosthough before ruling them out.

simply delicious. at first sight i was hesitant but all i can say now is don't judge a book by its cover. all though the location and the outside of the establishment aren't much to look at, the inside is clean, the staff is pleasant and for those of you wondering, yes they speak english and the food is simply delicious. my husband is from mexico and loves taco al pastor, he always complains that there is not a place in utah that can make them right, then we tried this place and he was shocked. the plus is he found a place that makes greattacosal pastor, the downfall he wants to eat there at least once a week...we live half an hour away. so if your looking for delicious mexican food and great service i definitely recommend chungas.

amazing!!! thetacosare delicious! my boyfriend had the burrito enchilada style and it was great also. it is a cute little hole in the wall!

was okay. went last friday after reading some of the reviews. i can't take real spicy food unfortunately and was told the chicken fortacoswas not. it was. i tried the al pastor and it was slightly spicy but good. very small portions for the costs. they aren't regular smalltacosbut tiny. they only have one meno on the counter by register so you can't see what they have until you get up there. people stacked up behind you so you feel you have to make quick decision. had to go ask for my chips and salsas quite a while after my meal came. costly for lunch, over $10 without drink. may try one more time something else as i was still hungry after.

deliciosos tacos. i am so glad i found chungas. thetacosare the real deal and the fruit drinks are great . i feel like i am actually eating in mexico. highly recommended

omg good!. as others have said, chunga's is indeed a diamond in the rough or a shining star.

albeit in a bad part of town (with a police unit in front tonight), i knew we had made a good choice as soon as we walked in the door. the smells and the smiles...

unlike everyone else here, we did not try the famous al pastor. we started off with the chips and homemade salsas (four different kinds). they had me at the chips. we also had atacosplate (w steak) and enchiladas with chicken (not shredded). i can earnestly say these are the best enchiladas i've ever had. not only was the chicken perfectly seasoned and cooked, the enchilada sauce (green) is to die for. the enchiladas are better than any i've had in mexico and just as cheap. : )

i'm not even a big fan of mexican food and i could eat here every week!

diamond in the rough!. i was definitely skeptical the first time my friend brought me to chungas and now it has soared to the top of my favorite restaurants list.

the al pastor (in any form) is definitely the way to go for your first visit but don't discount the other menu items, these guys don't rely on just one star dish to stay in business. the steak and chicken plates are very good, and their fresh fruit drinks are very refreshing.

they have renovated quite a bit since my first visit and have recently put in a bed of cement for their covered outdoor patio, complete with overhanging mist hoses.

on a hot day, sitting under the shaded patio with a plate of al pastortacoscan be more relaxing than a day spa. well, at least for me.

heads above the rest!. chunga's is a shining jewel is a sketchy part of town. they really do have the best al pastor around.tacosare a bit higher priced here than other places at $2 each but come stuffed with a lot more meat than average. i'm hooked on their wonderfully seasoned chicken tacos, stuffed with big chunks of tender chicken breast, not that nasty boiled, shredded stuff you get elsewhere. their tortas are also very good, filling and well priced. they aren't stuff full of veggies like other places, but they are very generous with their meats. the bread they use is large, soft, and has a very fresh taste.
service is some of the friendliest around, they really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. sure it's a hole in the wall, but they keep it spotless clean. the dining area has a low ceiling and slightly claustrophobic feel, but has undergone a recent renovation with some pleasant ceramic tiling on the walls.
bottom line, this place has some of the best authentic mexican food in the state. run, don't walk!
