perfeccion!. this place is simply amazing. order anything "al pastor" on the menu and you won't be disappointed. in the sea of salt lake city cookie-cutter mexican food restaurants, chungas stands above the rest. the food is great and they have a lot of interesting menu items that you don't see elsewhere like huaraches, gorditas, sopes, and pambazos. my personal faves are the enchiladas, corn quesadillas, and gorditas.

ok people, i’m not a pork eater but i dream about the the el pastor at chungas. i love the el pastor enchiladas and the quesadilla. it’s not your everyday quesadilla! the mango drink is a must have and i happen to have a mild allergy to mango but i will gladly leave chungas a little bit itchier. it’s family run, small and worth the line!

we travel full time, so we’re sorry we could only eat here once. we marked it on our map to come back if we come through here again. the tortas and chips were excellent. we want to come back and try more of their options. great food - my mexican husband gives it two thumbs up!

i recommend this place to everyone who will listen. i wish i could eat here every day. if you like places like cafe rio, just eat here instead. way better. i like the stuff that has the most fresh ingredients, like the nachos or salad or something. all ingredients are very fresh and good quality and they don't skimp on dishing them out. that's why my favorite thing to get is the nachos al pastor. tons of cheese, avacado, meat, and not filled with mostly rice like cafe rio stuff can be. i can make anything i get here into two meals, one the next day from my leftovers. another crazy delicious thing is their fresh juice. i don't know how they do it but it tastes real and amazing, no matter the time of year too. i know people like the hot meals like tacos and stuff but i seriously love all the stuff they put in the nachos better than anything else. the atmosphere is cool too. i just sit back and admire the way the family runs such a nice little place together and with such high quality food. gotta love the guys' signature spiky hair too. awesome. oh, don't forget to get a loyalty card, you'll be back.

i've spent many years in latin countries and this is far and away the most authentic food i've ever had in the salt lake area. the al pastor that everyone raves about will not disappoint. i like the burrito but it is huge. plus the rice and beans that i typically ignore at most mexican restaurants is every bit as good as the rest of the meal. and don't forget to get one of their juice drinks. ah chungas is the best!!!

i don't mean to be a downer about this place, but i didn't see anything special. i'm not saying the food was bad, but i wasn't blown away. i put it on the same level as a la frontera.

the location is fun, but not really convenient. i would recommend this for a guys night, but i wouldn't recommend it to friends. am i wrong? tell me where i went wrong. i really wanted to like this place.

wow! fresh is the key!. we were amazed! a small restaurant with an open kitchen, friendly staff and amazing food. this place had food worth writing home about. fresh avocados, tomatoes, the meats were generous and flavorful. the beans and rice were delicious and neither was runny slop. we went late and they were out of the al pastor. that was ok because every meal we ordered was great. i highly recommend. highly!

...try the al pastor (spit grilled pork) on whatever dish i decided to go with… so i went with the tacos al pastor. they did not disappoint. the spicy pork went really well with the sweet pineapple chunks. i’d also recommend trying the chips and salsa and asking to sample all 4 salsas. save some to pour on top of your tacos.

wonderful. i really enjoyed their traditional pambazo, found mostly in mexico city. it did not disappoint. my husband got a quesadilla. he too was very satisfied. he's from texas where mexican food almost can't be beat. i would def recommend this place.
