perfeccion!. this place is simply amazing. order anything "al pastor" on the menu and you won't be disappointed. in the sea of salt lake city cookie-cutter mexicanfoodrestaurants, chungas stands above the rest. thefoodis great and they have a lot of interesting menu items that you don't see elsewhere like huaraches, gorditas, sopes, and pambazos. my personal faves are the enchiladas, corn quesadillas, and gorditas.

we travel full time, so we’re sorry we could only eat here once. we marked it on our map to come back if we come through here again. the tortas and chips were excellent. we want to come back and try more of their options. greatfood- my mexican husband gives it two thumbs up!

i've spent many years in latin countries and this is far and away the most authenticfoodi've ever had in the salt lake area. the al pastor that everyone raves about will not disappoint. i like the burrito but it is huge. plus the rice and beans that i typically ignore at most mexican restaurants is every bit as good as the rest of the meal. and don't forget to get one of their juice drinks. ah chungas is the best!!!

i don't mean to be a downer about this place, but i didn't see anything special. i'm not saying thefoodwas bad, but i wasn't blown away. i put it on the same level as a la frontera.

the location is fun, but not really convenient. i would recommend this for a guys night, but i wouldn't recommend it to friends. am i wrong? tell me where i went wrong. i really wanted to like this place.

wow! fresh is the key!. we were amazed! a small restaurant with an open kitchen, friendly staff and amazing food. this place hadfoodworth writing home about. fresh avocados, tomatoes, the meats were generous and flavorful. the beans and rice were delicious and neither was runny slop. we went late and they were out of the al pastor. that was ok because every meal we ordered was great. i highly recommend. highly!

great food, the place is clean and people are friendly. had the torta al pastor and it was delicious! don't let the location fool you--this is as close mexico cityfoodas you'll get in utah!!

wonderful. i really enjoyed their traditional pambazo, found mostly in mexico city. it did not disappoint. my husband got a quesadilla. he too was very satisfied. he's from texas where mexicanfoodalmost can't be beat. i would def recommend this place.

simply delicious. at first sight i was hesitant but all i can say now is don't judge a book by its cover. all though the location and the outside of the establishment aren't much to look at, the inside is clean, the staff is pleasant and for those of you wondering, yes they speak english and thefoodis simply delicious. my husband is from mexico and loves taco al pastor, he always complains that there is not a place in utah that can make them right, then we tried this place and he was shocked. the plus is he found a place that makes great tacos al pastor, the downfall he wants to eat there at least once a week...we live half an hour away. so if your looking for delicious mexicanfoodand great service i definitely recommend chungas.

you know how here in the states you have tons of restaurants that sell mexican, chinese, italian, etc. etc. etc.?  i like all those types of foods, but the question is always in the back of your mind, “i wonder how good the mexicanfoodis in mexico” or “i wonder if the pasta in venice or rome is good”

i love chungas they are thinking mexico the whole way. non of this funky americanized mexicanfoodthat we all know places that are like that. chungas is the best in utah i will go there for the rest of my life. they have a great location and the service is great and thefoodis amazing. chungas you guys are the best.

was okay. went last friday after reading some of the reviews. i can't take real spicyfoodunfortunately and was told the chicken for tacos was not. it was. i tried the al pastor and it was slightly spicy but good. very small portions for the costs. they aren't regular small tacos but tiny. they only have one meno on the counter by register so you can't see what they have until you get up there. people stacked up behind you so you feel you have to make quick decision. had to go ask for my chips and salsas quite a while after my meal came. costly for lunch, over $10 without drink. may try one more time something else as i was still hungry after.

say 'si' to al pastor. this place is fantastic. anyone who likes mexicanfoodhas to try this one. when you walk in, right behind the counter you can see the al pastor in all it's pineapple juicy spicy porky savory and sweet goodness roasting away. order it! i would get buried in this avalanche of flavor on a daily basis if i could. just about everything in thefoodwas delicious. the beans, the rice, the meat, and also the verde were all very tasty.

don't use the excuse that it's just slightly on the wrong side of the tracks to avoid going. put your game face on, walk to the other side, and then marvel that you ever were worried about walking in. your bravery will be rewarded.

best in salt lake. this is one of the best places i have been. this is more like central mexico cuisine rather than the typical mexicanfoodthat is enjoyed in the states. excellent prices and great customer service.
