i recommend this place to everyone who will listen. i wish i could eat here every day. if you like places like cafe rio, just eat here instead. way better. i like the stuff that has the most fresh ingredients, like the nachos or salad or something. all ingredients are very fresh andgoodquality and they don't skimp on dishing them out. that's why my favorite thing to get is the nachos al pastor. tons of cheese, avacado, meat, and not filled with mostly rice like cafe rio stuff can be. i can make anything i get here into two meals, one the next day from my leftovers. another crazy delicious thing is their fresh juice. i don't know how they do it but it tastes real and amazing, no matter the time of year too. i know people like the hot meals like tacos and stuff but i seriously love all the stuff they put in the nachos better than anything else. the atmosphere is cool too. i just sit back and admire the way the family runs such a nice little place together and with such high quality food. gotta love the guys' signature spiky hair too. awesome. oh, don't forget to get a loyalty card, you'll be back.

i've spent many years in latin countries and this is far and away the most authentic food i've ever had in the salt lake area. the al pastor that everyone raves about will not disappoint. i like the burrito but it is huge. plus the rice and beans that i typically ignore at most mexican restaurants is every bit asgoodas the rest of the meal. and don't forget to get one of their juice drinks. ah chungas is the best!!!

had high expectations after all the positive reviews. had the burrito al pastor, and while it was good, it wasn't asgoodas lone star taqueria. i will try the tacos though before ruling them out.

you know how here in the states you have tons of restaurants that sell mexican, chinese, italian, etc. etc. etc.?  i like all those types of foods, but the question is always in the back of your mind, “i wonder howgoodthe mexican food is in mexico” or “i wonder if the pasta in venice or rome is good”

omg good!. as others have said, chunga's is indeed a diamond in the rough or a shining star.

albeit in a bad part of town (with a police unit in front tonight), i knew we had made agoodchoice as soon as we walked in the door. the smells and the smiles...

unlike everyone else here, we did not try the famous al pastor. we started off with the chips and homemade salsas (four different kinds). they had me at the chips. we also had a tacos plate (w steak) and enchiladas with chicken (not shredded). i can earnestly say these are the best enchiladas i've ever had. not only was the chicken perfectly seasoned and cooked, the enchilada sauce (green) is to die for. the enchiladas are better than any i've had in mexico and just as cheap. : )

i'm not even a big fan of mexican food and i could eat here every week!

the great thing about findinggoodmexican food off the beaten path is that you don't have to wait in line. walk right up, place your order, and find a seat. five minutes later, you're enjoying your enchiladas, heaps of beans and rice, washed down by your favorite soft drink. you can worry about the calories later. in the meantime, get off the beaten path and head over to chunga's and enjoy thatgoodmexican food. over in rose park on 900 west, chunga's doesn't look like much. more than meets the eye, though, and it's worth checking out. the menu is simple, but looks written for a mixed clientage of native spanish speakers and local gringos. i ordered my standard enchiladas with rice and beans. while we waited, we were treated to restaurant style chips and salsa, the kind that you can't stop eating. at most mexican restaurants, the chips are long gone, along with my appetite, before the food arrives. today, though, my order arrived before i could down more than three or for chips. and
