a high-end asian food restaurant on the 2nd floor of the hyatt on ashram road, the restaurant is a great addition to the gastronomic landscape of the city.

ambiance and decor: classy dim lighting creates a very special ambiance to the restaurant. this is very ably complemented by the great decor and artifacts. the rather large restaurants has very thoughtfully been divided into smaller sections that imparts a cozy atmosphere as well as keeps noise levels down. rating 4.5/5

service:  great attentive service that starts right from the entry till the end of the meal. the waiters are familiar with the cuisine and can help you with your order. rating 4.5/5

food: i ordered achickenhot and sour soup which was just okay. i have had significantly better flavoured hot and sour. the kung paochickenwas lip smackingly good. the prawn siu-mai was excellent, thechickenwas soft and juicy and the shell perfectly thin and soft. 4/5

all in all an an excellent speciality asian restaurant that i will wholeheartedly recommend to all.

this is one of my favourite restaurants but i was highly disappointed when i found out they have stopped serving fixed menu for lunch for a small group of people. you need at least 8 people or more on your table.
we had the dongu prawns with fried garlic and onion which was delicious. thechickenand prawn dumplings were also very good. the salmon sushi looked perfect when it arrived but it lacked in flavour and it definitely needed some element of crunch for a different texture. the highlight of our lunch was the dan-dan noodles with peanut broth. simply delicious.

the place has delectable, authentic and quality chinese food. the noodles (both veg noodles and egg noodles) were thin and contained right amount of spices. dimsums, bothchickenand lamb, were soft and tasty. tofu soup was light and came in as a perfect starter.chickenamd lamb curry dishes were properly cooked, tasty and amazing! must have.

in desserts, i tried creme brulee and caramel rosher almond bar. it was tasty, however, the sweetness is on the higher side! so, be prepared to satisfy your sweet tooth overwhelmingly!

another plus about the place is that it serves japanese cuisine, including sushi.

we were served by a young, polite, enthusiastic and happy sapien named shubham. he ensured that we ate each dish with ease and was diligent at all times.

overall the ambience added to the experience. the place was quiet and had the quintessential soft oriental music to give 'chinese feel'!

easily the best chinese served in ahmedabad:)

i was invited to the dimsum festival at china house. they have an exciting collection of dimsums with a wide variety of ingredients - some of these are ingredients i've never yet had anywhere in ahmedabad - like truffle oil. the ambiance is superb, beautiful lights, and comfortable, fanned out seating arrangement. even the service is great - certainly what you'd expect from a restaurant at hyatt. here's a list of the things that i tried:

ginger rougui ale
the ginger ale was refreshing, especially owing to the touch of the cinnamon, that was infused in the drinks.

crystal edamame pouch
the crystal edamame pouch were some great looking and delicious dumplings. the outer dough in which the edamame was stuffed was so thin that it became almost translucent after steaming, giving an extremely appetizing appearence to the dumplings.

mushroom medley
even the mushroom medley dumplings were almost translucent, beautiful looking delicious dumplings. the mushroom filling had a crunchy and creamy texture, adding to the deliciousness of the dumplings.

ying yang dumplings
these were black and white dumplings made by mixing ground black and white sesame seeds in the dough to impart a beautiful looking contrasting colour effect. in addition to being super delicious, these were also super delicious.

crispy golden puffs
these were fried dumplings - quite frankly, i didn't like them too much.

pumpkin chiu-chow dumplings
personally, i didn't like even the pumpkin chiu chow dumplings too much, although some of my friends seemed it like them quite a bit.

poachedchickenpokchoy spheres
the poachedchickenpokchoy spheres were the best of all - poachedchickendumplings covered with pokchoy leaves and then steamed - an absolute delight on the taste buds.

xiaolongbao
these dumplings were stuffed with minced pork and jelly - although the pork tasted great, i'm not a very big fan of jelly in dumplings, which is why i didn't like it too much.

spicy corriander chicken
even the spicy corrianderchickendumplings were also delicious. the crunch of the corriander gave a great in-mouth feel along with the chicken.

cha suichickenpuff
personally, i'm not a huge fan of fried dumplings, so don't mind me when i say that i didn't like these too much.

the items below are available on the regular menu as well:

shandong potatoes
these are great tasting sliced potatoes tossed in a delicious spicy-tangy sauce. these taste especially good with noodles or rice.

udon noodles
the flat noodles were cooked great and tasted great with the lamb curry and the shandong potatoes.

silken tofu
personally, given the choice, i would rather not eat tofu or paneer - but the sauce in which the silken tofu was tossed was delectable. but since i don't like the texture of tofu, i didn't quite like the overall dish too much.

jasmine fried rice
the jasmine fried rice were also cooked well and tasted delightful with both, the shandong potatoes and the lamb curry.

stone bowl lamb curry
the stone bowl lamb curry was the highlight of the meal - a star dish, if you might. the curry was delicious and even the lamb was perfectly cooked; and it tasted absolutely fantastic with the jasmine fried rice and the udon noodles.

the place is a gem. hyatt recency needs no introduction and it goes without saying that i have been in love with the food here ever since my 1st visit.

recently went there for their dim sum fest and they also have a hashtag for that because why not! #dimsumhavesome so here it goes. everyone knows about the ambience and the seating so i wont venture into that and go straight to the food.

we started off with some specially curated drinks namely the herbed yezi which has coconut and lychee. the anise si which has star anise as the main ingredient of the drink. and the ginger ròuguì ale. they have many more but the main concept is that each drink is centred around one dry spice, the flavour of which is enhanced by the combination of ingredients used to prepare the drink.

the star of the fest, the dimsums:

first in line were the crystal edamame pouch dimsums which have black truffle oil, stuffed water chestnut & fur beans. these are a must have for vegetarians.

next recommendation is the ying yang dumplings. these are a visual treat in black & white sesame dough which is stuffed with vegetables and sweet potatoes. another veg delight.

for the non vegetarians the porkchickenpokchoy dumplings and the spicy corianderchickendumplings are a must have. they were spot on when it came to the way they were cooked and we loved the taste! absolutely delicious.

and after all this if you still have space in your tummy, go for the main course as well. the lamb curry here served in the stone bowl is to die for. have that with some jasmine rice and you'll be sorted.

vegetarians can go for the silken tofu and some udon noodles and that should do the trick. the shandong potatoes were absolutely fab! everyone loved them. do try those. and the dumpling soup! gosh! so many of there dishes are worth trying that i don't think anyone can manage this in one go unless your entire gang pays them a visit at once. lovely concept that has been executed very nicely! loved it all!

p.s. this fest only lasts till october. this month ends and the dimsums vanish from their menu. so go grab a bite before it's too late! you won't regret it for sure. do check out the photos tho.

bon appetite! :)

i had very high expectations after the 4.9 ratings... the food was really good, we had ordered prawns spring rolls, veg din suns and pork buns. daughter loved the spring rolls and i liked the buns. half way through, our server mentioned they also have some japanese food not on the menu. so we ordered tempura, miso soup and somechickendish. tempuras were different to what i've had in the past, maybe i heard wrong but were tasty.chickendish was a bit salty. we had already ordered mains so we were left with a whole noodle dish...

all in all, pretty decent place for authentic chinese experience. the one thing missing was the fortune cookie 😁

china house has always managed to dish out some really good food, consistently. on their 2nd anniversary we sampled some of the new items they have included in their menu including a few dishes from their 'stone bowl festival' and oh boy, we were in for a treat. they have an array of options to begin with first of all in every category including a separate japanese menu featuring sushis (that's what i was told).

i particularly enjoyed thechickennoodle soup and the dimsums here, the mincedchickenand water chestnut being my favorites. they have a lot of variety in terms of the non-vegetarian fare that they offer as well. lamb, pork, chicken, duck, fish & prawns. the shreddedchicken& dongu fried prawns were relished by us, although the prawns could have been a tad more flavorful. in spite of having so many non vegetarian options, the star dish of the night was the radish cake served with dongu soy vinegar. yes, we had another helping as well. the fine ingredients used in the dishes indicated their affinity towards serving quality food to their patrons.

they have an interesting variety of mocktails & desserts as well, with the jasmine tiramisu topping the list. the banana chocolate spring roll with a dollop of icecream was a crowd pleaser as well.

all in all, china house never ceases to please me. high on quality and taste with a plethora of options along with beautiful ambiance, it begets a visit & more.

may be after a long time i have assign a 5* rating to some restaurant... and most importantly found my go to place for chinese food in ahmedbad after so much trials and errors.
now coming to the food. i had an opportunity to try their new improved menu. so here it goes,
*they have amazing mock tails i tried jasmine ice tea and basil and lime. out of the two loved the basil and lime (don’t forget to taste the basil, ginger and other herbs that is making the drink flavourful, you won’t regret it ;)
*dimsums are all amazing and also so pretty to look at :special mentionschickenspring onion, assorted veggies and water chestnuts ones
*they have variety of appetisers and main courses starting from vegetarian crispy ocra, american crispy corns, spinach and veggies, tofu pancakes to wok toasted guards.
for non-vegetarian the favourite list is long from crispy duck, dongu fried prawns, shredded chicken, sizzling salmon to lamb dishes.but the surprise was the radish cake with dongu sauce unexpectedly flabbergasting great taste.
the full list of awesomeness won’t be complete without the star dessert of the day crispy banana caramel ice cream with chocolate sauce.

good mood, good staff and really good food. although the sweet corn soup was a little bland. would definitely recommend theirchickenrice and fried vegetables(it had okra which was a little surprising) with cashews. also the dark chocolate slice with ice cream is an overwhelming dessert to finish with.
