chill restaurant & bar

service complaint only!. what in the world happened? this used to be our secret little place to bring friends for dinner and or coffee. now i doubt if i’ll ever be back. we have been for breakfast through dinner, etc and it was always great. on a very recent saturday, we (including a couple who has share steam/chill with us on a few occasions, had a nice and very casual dinner at the wharf and decided to enjoy coffee and dessert at steam/chill. when we walked in we noticed the coffee lounge had been remodeled into additional seating for therestaurantand a bar. i immediately thought “bad idea”. it was not busy but we decided to sit outside. we ordered coffee and 3 desserts and were told they would bring our order right out. well, the coffee came within 10 minutes but the dessert never followed. we all took turns going in an asking about the dessert and were told someone is working on it. after about thirty minutes, my wife decided she would check and was told they were busy and they apologized for the wait. after about another 10 minutes, the deserts came out but we had finished our coffees long before. prior to leaving i asked the guy behind the bar about what happened and he said that ever since they had remodeled, they had been having problems like this. i really hope you guys straighten things out. i’d hate to see this place go under in the name of greed. from the looks of the most recent reviews, i think you might want to take a good look at what you’re trying to accomplish. even my buddy’s wife said “well i guess we’ll be writing this place off”. i’m sad

what happened?!!. i went to thisrestaurant3 times in my visit to st. pete's beach in july. it was amazing. food was out of this world!! now 9 months later in my most recent visit to st. pete's beach, i could hardly wait to get in chill to taste their yumminess. i gave thisrestaurantrave reviews and highly recommended it to all my friends. i was embarrassed that i even brought friends my last visit. the food was horrible. service sucked. what happened here??!! i talked to some locals about it and they said the chef, jackie, left and is opening her own restaurant. i will not return to chill after my last experience.

i understand that when arestaurantis busy, it can be a challenge for the staff to keep up. what i don’t understand is how chill allows their staff to serve cold food or no food at all after over an hour wait. three friends went to chill on a busy saturday and happily waited 30 minutes for a table. but 20 minutes after ordering, we were informed that they were out of one ingredient so my friend needed to order something else. then we were told that they got more so the order was put back in. another 20 minutes goes by with no food and every other table around us is being served. the server said one of our orders went to the wrong table. what happened to the other 2 orders? they were sitting on a counter getting cold so 50 minutes after we sat down, 2 of us got cold food and the 3rd order was not even the right food. no manager on duty (what?) but someone came over and promised us 3 more orders of fresh hot food. guess what. no food. more tables get served all around us. after an hour and 10 minutes we left. i gave them 2 stars since they waived the price of a glass of wine my friend drank. would have given them 3 stars if they gave us a reason to come back, such as a gift certificate that would cover 3 lunches. no such luck. we will never give them our business again. there are so many other restaurants in the area that care about actually feeding their customers.

going from a ‘steam’ to a ‘chill,’ this beachrestaurantis unlike its neighbor beach bars catering to tourists. this a locavore features a wide range of small plates catering to vegetarian, vegan, and carnivores alike. voted best business of the year in 2012 they offer local, sustainable, some organic choices, and a nice cocktail lists, with a piano bar.

here are my thoughts

not good!. my motto has always been--judge arestaurantby its bathroom. i should have listened to myself.

yum, yum, yum. our definite favorite in the area. everything is terrific and i cannot thing of one thing to criticize about chill. we have enjoyed wonderful food and service 100% of the time. the menu is packed with excellent choices. it is always difficult to choose what to ask for! the chef is creative, talented and accommodating. the staff is courteous and efficient, even when it is insanely busy. chill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week and at the scrumptious sunday brunch there is live entertainment. a completerestaurantwith a full bar and any kind of coffee that you would like fashioned by a barista/bartender who will make you a delicious beverage of your choice. in addition to all of that, therestaurantis squeaky clean, the atmosphere inviting and comfortable and there is plenty of parking. the lovely owner is nearly always on site (talk about hard working) overseeing the operation of her eatery. believe me, i am extremely fussy about where i dine. i wish we lived here year round so that could be spoiled silly all of the time. do yourselves a favor and go to chill!

best fish taco's on the beach. i am a local and i like a good fish taco. i ordered the fish taco at steam and chillrestaurantand it is the best on the beach hands down!!

awesome. we arrived late (9:45pm with a 10pm closing time) on june 17th, 2013.
the staff was friendly and seated us with no problems. our server was dan, and he was great!
the food was awesome. based on recommendations i saw online, we got the chai sangria and goat cheese plate first. both were absolutely phenomenal. i am attempting to recreate the chai sangria as i type this :)
we also ordered steak and potatoes, the fig plate, and chicken potpie- all were very delicious as well.
i would highly recommend thisrestaurantto anyone. this atmosphere was quiet and romantic, yet the family of 4 behind us felt right at home as well. we had no problems with slow wait times or rude service. it was everything i could've hoped for in a tapas restaurant.

watch and communicate with chef!. it is cuterestaurantclose to beach.
we order daily special, which was duck carbonara.
chef told us he cured duck and smoked, it was solo good!
filet-mignon was tender, and semi glacé sauce was delicious,
squash spaghetti was good too! everything we had was very good.
we watched our food cooked, and talked to chef about food.
over all it was great experience.

wonderful! every time i am in the area i make it a point to have dinner at chill. the food is always incredible, and last night was no exception. i admit, reading previous reviews made me somewhat nervous since i hadn't been in a few months, but i can assure you that any & all kinks are completely worked out. our chefs were competent, quick, & fun to watch, and our waitress, lara, was wonderful. she was friendly, attentive, & allowed us to eat at our own pace without rush or pressure, which is exactly what you want in a tapas restaurant. the menu features a sweet baked brie or a savory brie. we opted for the savory one & fell in love! it's amazing served w/bread & crostini's. i highly recommend it & it's the perfect tapas start to warm up those taste buds. we're going back to try the sweet brie next! we ordered the beef & shrooms next, and it too, did not disappoint! the beef was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms were simply fabulous. we opted for dessert next & tried the "red", a red velvet pudding cake with caramel & vanilla ice cream. it was warm, sweet, and not too heavy. perfect way to end our tapas night. oh, & i can't forget to mention the sangria! we had the traditional house sangria. perfectly sweet, and a great deal if you order a pitcher! overall, i had another incredible experience at chill & wish i could convince ruthie, the incredibly nice and ever-expanding owner, to relocate the entirerestaurantto rhode island!!

train wreck. i was so disappointed with my experience at chill. visiting the art festival on corey ave. this past weekend, i was approached by a bubbly blonde handing out cookies and menus from therestaurantchill. i've heard mixed things about the place from friends but online it appeared as if most reviews were outstanding so my wife and i decided to give it a go. we were pleased when we were sat at one of the tables surrounding the chefs. watching the chefs was the one and only good part of the experience, however. for starters, the music was way too loud for such a small place and i found it hard for my wife and i to hear each other. it took several minutes for our server to even come by and when he did he wasn't very friendly. the chefs had to read the menu to know how to make the dishes they were serving which we found strange. they explained that the menu had changed from the night before and they had not even made some of the things they were being required to serve. we felt so sorry for them. they were very nice and apologetic that the food was going to take a long time, but we waited over an hour for our main dishes. the worst part of the experience though was when the owner talked down to the chefs in front of everyone. we were shocked. we had the front row seat to a train wreck. never going back.

the food is spectacular. the owner, ruthie, and her chef jacquiline make a great team. all of the tapas dishes were fresh, unique and delicious.

this is the best dining we've ever enjoyed on st pete beach and the success of therestaurantevolved from the demands of customers, who encouraged te ruthie to expand and do more. great food, great atmosphere, great music and a great time

we went twice during our visit and brought two friends who are long time st pete residents. they also raved about chill
