chill restaurant & bar

service complaint only!. what in the world happened? this used to be our secret little place to bring friends for dinner and or coffee. now i doubt if i’ll ever be back. we have been for breakfast through dinner, etc and it was always great. on a very recent saturday, we (including a couple who has share steam/chill with us on a few occasions, had a nice and very casual dinner at the wharf and decided to enjoy coffee and dessert at steam/chill. when we walked in we noticed the coffee lounge had been remodeled into additional seating for the restaurant and a bar. i immediately thought “bad idea”. it was not busy but we decided to sit outside. we ordered coffee and 3 desserts and were told they would bring our order right out. well, the coffee came within 10 minutes but the dessert never followed. we all took turns going in an asking about the dessert and were told someone is working on it. after about thirty minutes, my wife decided she would check and was told they were busy and they apologized for the wait. after about another 10 minutes, the deserts came out but we had finished our coffees long before. prior to leaving i asked the guy behind the bar about what happened and he said that ever since they had remodeled, they had been having problems like this. i really hope you guys straighten things out. i’d hate to see this place go under in the name of greed. from the looks of the most recent reviews, i think you might want to take a good look at what you’re trying to accomplish. even my buddy’s wife said “well i guess we’ll be writing this place off”. i’m sad

awful service. carl the waiter needs to leave his rude behavior at home. customers were leaving because they were ignored. food was lukewarm.
had to keep asking for coffee, never did get the requested refill. wait staff needs to lose the arrogant attitude and learn customer service. will spread thexword and not be back.

recommended by a local for sunday brunch and it was fantastic. mamosa oj was fresh squeezed. frittata was the best i've ever had. and our berry crepe was wonderful. our service was fantastic and there was even a beautiful guitarist there playing. 10 out of 10 for me!!

what happened?!!. i went to this restaurant 3 times in my visit to st. pete's beach in july. it was amazing. food was out of this world!! now 9 months later in my most recent visit to st. pete's beach, i could hardly wait to get in chill to taste their yumminess. i gave this restaurant rave reviews and highly recommended it to all my friends. i was embarrassed that i even brought friends my last visit. the food was horrible. service sucked. what happened here??!! i talked to some locals about it and they said the chef, jackie, left and is opening her own restaurant. i will not return to chill after my last experience.

you know how to take a reservation but do you know how to hold a reservation??? made a reservation for two dinner at 7pm and had to call back since we would not make it and come to find out they never took the reservation. guess this was confirmation that we made the right choice by canceling our non existent reservation!!!

i understand that when a restaurant is busy, it can be a challenge for the staff to keep up. what i don’t understand is how chill allows their staff to serve cold food or no food at all after over an hour wait. three friends went to chill on a busy saturday and happily waited 30 minutes for a table. but 20 minutes after ordering, we were informed that they were out of one ingredient so my friend needed to order something else. then we were told that they got more so the order was put back in. another 20 minutes goes by with no food and every other table around us is being served. the server said one of our orders went to the wrong table. what happened to the other 2 orders? they were sitting on a counter getting cold so 50 minutes after we sat down, 2 of us got cold food and the 3rd order was not even the right food. no manager on duty (what?) but someone came over and promised us 3 more orders of fresh hot food. guess what. no food. more tables get served all around us. after an hour and 10 minutes we left. i gave them 2 stars since they waived the price of a glass of wine my friend drank. would have given them 3 stars if they gave us a reason to come back, such as a gift certificate that would cover 3 lunches. no such luck. we will never give them our business again. there are so many other restaurants in the area that care about actually feeding their customers.

my family of 5 went here based on zomato reviews. to start the drinks were delicious. the salads were packed full of yummy local greens and homemade dressing. the fish dishes were dynamite and my daughter ordered a pasta dish with chicken and basil cream sauce. everything was wonderful and if i lived here, i would be a regular. a live musician was playing when we were there which was a bonus.

going from a ‘steam’ to a ‘chill,’ this beach restaurant is unlike its neighbor beach bars catering to tourists. this a locavore features a wide range of small plates catering to vegetarian, vegan, and carnivores alike. voted best business of the year in 2012 they offer local, sustainable, some organic choices, and a nice cocktail lists, with a piano bar.

here are my thoughts

wow. their iced coffee had me addicted. their shrimp and grits is a "must"! very great food and staff. we go any chance we can!! you won't be disappointed!

we were unable to find this place, i think it is closed.
we went to the intersection and it was nowhere to be found. we went to bongo's and the service was terrible, no attitude just slow and uninterested.

love the new location! the new location on corey ave gives chill enough room to expand its bar and offer better seating (including some outdoor). the atmosphere is good for a casual breakfast with friends, a party with your co-workers (they now have a separate room for group occasions), or a romantic dinner with your sweetie. the staff are always friendly, though as the name says...they are chill...so don't expect fast service. they apparently believe if you want something done right, you better take the time to do it right.

the food here is delicious. i have been for both breakfast and dinner. the breakfast menu has plenty of dishes that are heart attack worthy, but truly worth it! our group had the biscuits and gravy, a western omelet, and the french toast. all were very tasty! the screwdrivers were mixed correctly and the alcoholic coffee drinks were exceptional.
for the dinner menu its tapas! the sea bass is one of their specialties and it is to die for. we also tried several other dishes, one with chicken, another with figs....all were wonderful! the portions are enough to give everyone at a table of four a reasonable taste.

overall, for the quality of food the price is good. my score would have been higher if the service had been a little less chill.

we went here for the late night tapas. the staff was very welcoming and friendly. the decor could use a bit more finesse; it looked like it was still under construction and our booth moved when we slid into it. but, what the decor lacked the food made up for in spades. the sea bass was delicious! the portions were generous for tapas and the price was reasonable for the quality of the dishes.

not good!. my motto has always been--judge a restaurant by its bathroom. i should have listened to myself.
