chill restaurant & bar

service complaint only!. what in the world happened? this used to be our secret littleplaceto bring friends for dinner and or coffee. now i doubt if i’ll ever be back. we have been for breakfast through dinner, etc and it was always great. on a very recent saturday, we (including a couple who has share steam/chill with us on a few occasions, had a nice and very casual dinner at the wharf and decided to enjoy coffee and dessert at steam/chill. when we walked in we noticed the coffee lounge had been remodeled into additional seating for the restaurant and a bar. i immediately thought “bad idea”. it was not busy but we decided to sit outside. we ordered coffee and 3 desserts and were told they would bring our order right out. well, the coffee came within 10 minutes but the dessert never followed. we all took turns going in an asking about the dessert and were told someone is working on it. after about thirty minutes, my wife decided she would check and was told they were busy and they apologized for the wait. after about another 10 minutes, the deserts came out but we had finished our coffees long before. prior to leaving i asked the guy behind the bar about what happened and he said that ever since they had remodeled, they had been having problems like this. i really hope you guys straighten things out. i’d hate to see thisplacego under in the name of greed. from the looks of the most recent reviews, i think you might want to take a good look at what you’re trying to accomplish. even my buddy’s wife said “well i guess we’ll be writing thisplaceoff”. i’m sad

bestplacein st. pete. we've been coming to this area for the past 15 years and have eaten at most of the local restaurants. chill is my new favoriteplacein st. pete beach. on our last trip down for a week, i think we stopped in at least four times. my parents live there and go frequently too. the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. the lighting, décor, tables are inviting, comfortable with good happy background music. the food is amazing. fresh ingredients, not your normal fare with a fresh, unique twist on most of their dishes. we've tried a variety of dishes: omelets, salads, sandwiches, soups. omelets are big and fluffy with the use of fresh ingredients making for wonderful flavor profiles. portions are very generous/ filling. my husband had the clam chowder and said it was the best he ever had (even over our visit to maine!). he is still talking about that soup! the service is outstanding. we love all the servers and staff, but our favorite is gilbert. he is prompt, efficient, super friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, accommodating, and has the best, most positive attitude that is absolutely contagious. we appreciate thisplaceand all the staff that make it the greatplacethat it is. highly recommend chill.

license to chill. my hubby and i were in treasure island to celebrate our anniversary on labor day weekend...in searching for a greatplaceto have breakfast/brunch, we tried a couple of the highly rated restaurants listed here...but they were so crowded that we ended up at chill. wow...we thanked the universe for sending us to this fabulousplaceto have brunch. i had crab cakes benedict, which was simply the best breakfast i have ever eaten. there were two very large, mostly meat, crab cakes on a bed of spinach, topped with two perfectly poached eggs, home-made hollandaise with home fries. my mouth is watering just writing this. in addition, i also had a bloody mary that was to die for...they make their own mix from fresh vegetables and you can certainly tell a difference. my hubby had a philly cheesesteak scramble, that was also very very yummy and unique. next time we go to st. pete's beach it won't be for the sunsets, or the snorkling, but just to have this wonderful breakfast again!!! go there.

amazing food in a beautiful trendy restaurant. we went there for breakfast and sat at the counter where we watched a chef prepare the food. i was so impressed to watch him handle every order that came in with ease. the waiter was friendly. i ordered an omelet and my husband ordered a brie crepe. wow! so good. the only negative i would say was that the lunch chef that was coming on duty and a horrible attitude. he was crabbing at the manager and at the breakfast chef w/o care to customers who could hear him.
we were invited back by the manager for dinner so we went late, after 9 pm. totally different experience. the waiter seemed friendly at first . he made some helpful suggestions and left us alone to make our decision....a long long time. he was caught up conversing with another table. then he came back to take our order and before submitting it, went back to the other table where he continued having a 20 min conversation about a chemical peel he had. the chef saw what was happening and finally flagged the manager over where we resubmitted our order with her. at this time our waiter had moved on to doing his end of night chores. after finishing our brie plate we waited to order dessert but no one came back to see if we needed anything else. we also observed customers getting up to ask the manager for more drinks because the waiters were nowhere to be found. to sum it up, great food but half the staff were either lazy or apathetic and had rotten attitudes and the other half are left to make up the lack of their co-workers. thisplaceneeds a manager to get on it. this would be a greatplaceto shoot the next episode of "restaurant steakout."

amazing food, horrible service. thisplacewas packed out on a sunday morning so we decided to sit at the bar for quicker service because we had somewhere to be at a certain time. took forever to get water, at least 15-20 minutes, even after asking for it a few times. decided to order and pay so we could get out of there quick. they're system is ridiculous! they write down your order but then go enter it in an ipad or iphone. so basically all the servers are on some sort of electronic for 5 minutes. they don't even know how to use the system properly so it takes forever and they definitely cannot multi-task.
a few men told a server a few times that the soap in the restroom was out and nothing was done about it in the hour and a half i was there.
all the servers are just talking negatively and nagging on each other publicly in front of customers. the bus boy or whatever he was, i heard say "i don't want to do this" or continuously roll his eyes when anyone asked for help.
after waiting about 45 minutes for our food, it was sooooooo delicious. the rest of the menu looks amazing as well. i want to go back so bad but being in the service industry and always providing absolutely the best customer service, i don't know if i can mentally handle it.

totally fabulous dinner experience!. had totally awesome dinner at chill last night! theplaceis so "one of a kind"...it has it all...the friendliestplaceever...the food is just plain outstanding....every delicious tapa that our perfectly wonderful server lara brought was better than the last.....my husband and i lingered and ate and listened to awesome live music......really this is our favorite place.....we live and hour away and it is absolutely worth the drive.....best food, best service, warm cost atmosphere.......what in the world are those negative reviewers talking about!!!!! don't hesitate...just go...you will love it!!! ruthie the owner will welcome you!!!

what happened? had one of the best meals ever in thisplaceabout 3 months ago. so i took friends from out of town last night. this was the biggest mess i ever seen. we waitef forever for food and when food came it was either something we already had or something we didnt order. the food was not even close to the caliber of food i had before. this went on for over 2 hours. we finaly told them just to bring the check and end this nightmare. then as we are looking at the check 3 dishes that we never got arrived and they wanted to charge us for them. they should have not charged us for anything. still ended up spending almost $200 and every one had hardley eaten anything. will never return here. even if they were having an off night it was just ridiculos.

train wreck. i was so disappointed with my experience at chill. visiting the art festival on corey ave. this past weekend, i was approached by a bubbly blonde handing out cookies and menus from the restaurant chill. i've heard mixed things about theplacefrom friends but online it appeared as if most reviews were outstanding so my wife and i decided to give it a go. we were pleased when we were sat at one of the tables surrounding the chefs. watching the chefs was the one and only good part of the experience, however. for starters, the music was way too loud for such a smallplaceand i found it hard for my wife and i to hear each other. it took several minutes for our server to even come by and when he did he wasn't very friendly. the chefs had to read the menu to know how to make the dishes they were serving which we found strange. they explained that the menu had changed from the night before and they had not even made some of the things they were being required to serve. we felt so sorry for them. they were very nice and apologetic that the food was going to take a long time, but we waited over an hour for our main dishes. the worst part of the experience though was when the owner talked down to the chefs in front of everyone. we were shocked. we had the front row seat to a train wreck. never going back.

outstanding!!!. thisplaceis absolutely great! we haven't been for breakfast yet, but we hear it is even better. their tapas plates are decently priced for the exceptional quality. the cucumber salad makes cucumbers taste like gold, seafood plates were phenomenal, beef plates as well. i think our table ordered 7 plates, plus a desert, hot chocolate and mocha's, and every first bite ended up with a "wow!". i highly recommend chill. great, quiet and relaxing atmosphere with a open style kitchen like in the cooking shows, which i like a lot. go!

delightful. this is aplacewhere you will enter the dining experience. be prepared to savor your food and the warmth of the kitchen. the food is created with love and magic and you can taste it. you will truely experience the culinary mastery from the secrets only grandmas' grandma knew from days of old. everything is made from the freshest ingredients and made to order. the only dissapointment will be that you won't be able to try everything on the menu the first sitting.so, you will desire to come back in the attempt to try everything. give yourself plenty of time to eat. you do not want to be rushed. the decor is impeccable. the wait staff is attentive and happy.there is live music that will enjoy and you can dine by. the prices are very reasonable. this is theplaceto come for a meal that will wake up and satisfy all of your tastebuds.

where to start? my experience with chill began in august '11. i had just relocated on a temporary basis from tampa which recently came to an end after 6 months and now i find myself back in tampa 45 minutes away for the majority of my time right now and i must say, chill will be worth the ride back any time i can. reason? the quality, the people, the free internet, the comfortable " anti-breakfast shop atmosphere", and the fact that i can conduct business there for hours on end, or homework with the kids, and feel entirely comfortable the whole way through. such a quiet gem that has perfected the blend of breakfast, lunch, and tapas dinner with incredibly quality ingredients and a welcoming approach that has kept on bringing me back. don't hit the eggs n baconplaceor the chain dinner venue. try chill ... morning or night... you will be right at home. trust me.

extremly pleased!. we visited thisplacetwice, once for coffee in the am and dinner tapas style in the evening while making a short trip to the area visiting a local college for our daughter. this was our first time with the tapas style, the waiter was very helpful and friendly. the owner talked to us quite a while and we found her to be very down to earth and funny. she did not seem the slightest bit "snooty" to us as was mentioned in a previous review. the food was fantastic. hubby says it was the best food he has ever had. we are hoping our daughter chooses this college so we can come back to chill (and steam)
