excellent pasta. i really enjoyed the tortellini pasta dish i ordered - very tasty cream sauce with a bit of spice to it... exactly what i was hoping for! the service was friendly and prompt, and the food came out quickly. i will definitely be back.

compared to calgary very underwhelming bland pasta wont come back and to top it off, the i'll came to $49.xx something gst being $02.36
i give the waiter $60, he asks if i want change? ya i'm not giving you $10+ tip, so the little shit comes back with a couple quarters and a $10 bill
just kinda low class & cheeky right ?
i have a $5 that i leave because i'm kinda pissed off that i just dropped $50 for 2 subpar plates of pasta and then the waiter tried to hustle me for a couple bucks
i was gonna give the standard 15% but no

april2018 -first time here, the service was on point. deep fried zucchini, lacked flavour, mushy and overly soggy.. defiantly not golden brown or crispy. pasta wasn't anything special...

less than mediocre pasta. won’t be back.
venue: ok. cozy.
staff: our waiter was kind and personable
food: meh. consensus at our table was very underwhelming.

experienced chianti for lunch for their pasta tuesday special. i was able to pick a pasta and the sauce. i chose the cheese ravioli with a curry sauce.

the meal started with a fresh warm roll. soon after the drinks were served my caesar salad appeared. i was offered freshly grated parmesan cheese to top my salad. very tasty, one of the best i've had.

it wasn't log after finishing my salad that the huge plate of my pasta choice was delivered. again the parmesan cheese was offered. it was good that i was hungry as i don't think i could of finished the whole plate!

food was terrific, service was friendly and fast, the atmosphere enjoyable...all-in-all, a great meal!

came here with some colleagues after work last week. despite having the restaurant practically to ourselves service was slow. on the upside, food isn't very expensive. i'd recommend sticking to the pasta menu which will give you the best bang for your buck. its not going to blow you away but i'll come back some day.

fun atmosphere in a repurposed post office. staff seemed eager to please. ample servings, good value. our only complaint would be that the pasta sauces seem bland - seems the chef doesn't use enough garlic.

this is one of my favourite restaurants and we have been going for many years. i love the pasta and the large noodles and they have a huge selection of dishes. my favourite is the fettuccine supremo but i would recommend most of the dishes.

our new lunch craving is pasta. cheap and decent tasting pasta. none of that old spag shit. so chianti is our flavor of the week. penne alla gigi had spicy italian sausage, onion, sun dried tomatoes, garlic with spicy tomato sauce. it tasted like it looked, tomato saucy and some heat thanks to the sausage and sauce. not a hot hot hot heat, more like a “james harden new triple black shoe” hot. linguini marinara had baby shrimps and baby clams in a tomato sauce. @adubalicious says it was “a little bit saucy but delicious.” fettuccine supremo had scallops, smoked salmon, curry, cream, garlic and parmesan sauce. this was surprisingly really good because i’ve never had this curry cream on pasta before. paired with the smoked salmon and scallops, damn, this is definitely something worth eating over and over again. fettucine diabloe had spinach noodles, shrimp (instead of chicken), artichokes, red peppers and spinach in a spicy pesto cream sauce. amanda said that, “everything tasted ok, but the artichokes tasted like wet socks.” i’ve seen what she puts in her mouth, so i believe her statement. tortellini alla marchese had veal filled noodles with pepperoncini in a cream pesto sauce. tortellini itself is just really good because of just having a large portion of meat in one bite. even chef boyardee makes good tortellini. the peperoncini made this dish have some heat, well a little more heat than the penne alla gigi. space jam jordan’s heat, in comparison. dishes were all 9.99, that's lit af.

located on whyte ave, this place has a decent patio when it’s not winter in summer and pretty decent service. chianti is on a pokestop and close to a gym which is reachable if you’re on the patio. #valor #yellowisstupid

sal says: just eat it (monday/tuesday lunch only lol)

@adubalicious: good portion size for the monday/tuesday deal. would definitely recommend.

colin says: (penne alla gigi) good spicy sauce, tasted like store bought pasta, just ok.

if you're looking to go to a place for service, this is your restaurant. i've been to chianti only twice, both times in a group of about 40 people. the staff were extremely patient and very accommodating. that said, the food was a little disappointing in terms of flavour (maybe it was because they were cooking for so many at once?). that said, the environment is nice and cozy which gives it it's own unique experience!

have not been to this restaurant in years, once inside it appears to be the same, still comfy. service is friendly, chatty and took care of us quite well. for starters the wine selection is pretty good.
on to dinner.. bruschetta and mozza appetizers. not great, bruschetta is missing garlic and the baked mozza and its sauce are both a little disappointing. main courses of lasagna and gorgonzola ravioli. lasagna has great flavor and is loaded with meat, the ravioli really taste of gorgonzola both served with warm buns.
the food is pretty good here but the service and value are great.

i keep coming here year after year when i bring my junior high band students to edmonton for band festival. the service is excellent--even with a large group of teenagers. they go beyond just serving and make an effort to engage the students and make the smile! the food is good although the portion sizes are so generous that most of the group cannot finish! i am a bit disappointed in their bread--although it's was obviously fresh and hot out of the oven, it just isn't the quality it used to be. (or maybe it was just the calgary crowfoot location that had such bread.). also, the olive oil and balsamic vinegar is gone as well :( still love the pasta though and they are so flexible with "tweaking" the menu items to accommodate the customer.

my husband and i keep coming back to this place. it's great value, especially if you manage to visit on "pasta frenzy" monday or tuesdays. their prices can't be beat for a huge portion of yummy pasta, with great service.  the food isn't out of the world, but it really is quite delicious, especially if you know what to order. personally, i recommend anything w/homemade pasta - the chicken diabloe is particularly good. and the desserts are fantastic! i appreciate the efficiency at chiantis - the wait is never long to be seated or have your food prepared. this is about the best deal you can get for a nice, sit-down meal at a restaurant.

this place is a disappointment for italian food. first of all, the complementary bread they provide before the meal is not fresh. it is too dry, flavourless, and has a texture as if it has been sitting around for a few days. our server was slow, not receptive, and apathetic. the food, haha, wow. i ordered a seafood pasta and that was a complete disappointment in itself. yes, edmonton is not known for its seafood but i think this dish took the cake for the most displeasing seafood pasta i have ever tried in the city. the clams were the size of my tiny pinky nail and looked like they came out of a can! i'm pretty sure all the seafood in this pasta came either in a can or from the cheap frozen goods section. you can clearly see and taste the lack of freshness and quality. i also ordered the fettuccini alfredo and antipasto platter which were bland in flavour and disappointing as well. one positive was the interior and decor were nice. location is great. however, overall this place greatest lacks quality in its food and service. i strongly do not recommend this place for italian food

i ate here in november 2014 and got very bad salmonella poisoning. i learned after that they are well known for having food safety violations. i recommend never going here.
