april2018 -firsttimehere, the service was on point. deep fried zucchini, lacked flavour, mushy and overly soggy.. defiantly not golden brown or crispy. pasta wasn't anything special...

don't waste your money here!. i have been to chianti twice. the firsttimewas so-so. great service, food came out quickly and hot. but nothing great.

the second time, however, was absolutely terrible. two different pasta dishes came out with the pasta noodles literally so overcooked they were mushy and falling apart. and the sauce tasted like something you get from a chef boyardee can. two barely eaten plates at the end of the lunch, and the server asked no questions. must be a common occurrence where the food is too gross to eat.

this is an italian restaurant! the pasta is what people come for and that's what you serve them?

will never be back, despite it being very close to work!

love the friendly, inviting atmosphere of this place. hasn't changed much since i was in high school which was a very longtimeago. portion size was excellent even if you get a half portion of pasta. dishes were tasty. staff was very friendly. washrooms are very clean. we enjoyed ourselves and prices were very reasonable. would go back.

great restaurant big thank you to the management and chianti staff for making my birthday so special. everyone greets you with warm smile and "hello", and it really makes you feel like a welcomed costumers or longtimefriend. you can also tell that a lot of their customers are repeat customers, who they even greet by name so you know they've been there more than once or twice. secondly, food was very good. was there june 15 for firsttimeand can't wait to go back.

bland, chunky overcooked pasta. i went there with my husband to celebrate our 8th anniversary, the place was packed, great atmosphere, we each ordered pasta, i had the chianti's tortellini...tortellini are super big supper thick you can only eat one at thetimeand you have a mouthful of unsalted overcooked pasta, they tossed 4 pieces (i counted ) of prosciutto and maybe like8 thin slices of mushroom in a pretty bland alfredo sauce (not the taste of cheese as they say). first thing i did was cover with salt and chilli flakes. my husbands pasta was the same like some kid made spaghetti with play dough no flavor, and the peas unleashed a frozen flavor to the hole dish. they offered a second glass of wine but took too long to bring it by thetimethey did we were "done". i'd like to see the chef try to eat his dishes...terrible

misled by waitress. the lasttimei was at chiante's was this past winter. i was there with my girlfriend to have some pasta since i had been there before and the portions had been big and the price was right. we sat down and our waitress came by and gave explained the specials. since most pasta entree dishes at chiantes are in the 12-15 dollar range, we ordered two plates of pasta that were on special.

when the bill came however, i was shocked to discover that both dishes were over $23 dollars each, for a plate of food that was basically noodles and shrimp covered in a thin tomato sauce. i left without tipping because the waitress didnt even inform us as to how expensive the dishes would be. normally, when you order the special, you expect something to be cheaper than most of the entrees in the menu. her omission of the price was seriously misleading. i would suggest that the wait staff always mention all the prices in the future.

go for cheap pasta night!. you must go to chianti's for their monday/tuesday cheap pasta night!!!

chianti's is one of my family's favourite. we always go for cheap pasta night and we are never disappointed!

the portions are huge, the food extremely tasty, and it all comes at such a reasonable price!

you get great value for what you pay for. service is great and like i said, we are never disappointed!

add caesar salad to your cheap pasta and you've got a well-rounded, delicious and extremely affordable meal.

we love the whyte ave. location but have also tried their clareview one and had a greattimethere too.

solid overall. have dined at chianti several times over the past 6 years. consistently good, comfort pasta dishes eachtimealthough bread is just standard bulk dinner rolls. pasta is claimed to be home-made, and you can taste it. try the fettucine supremo (very nice curry sauce with smoked salmon) or fiorentina. good value, with most pasta dishes between $12 and 15, although this is half price on pasta tuesdays! if you're in the area and want to eat solid italian food for a good price, try chianti. if you want more upscale, try sorrentino's or il pasticcio. if you want eclectic, try corso 32.

food: 7.5/10
service: 7/10
ambience: 7/10
value: 8.5/10
overall: 8/10

chianti's used to be my favorite restaurant, but i've found it to be rather hit-and-miss lately. the firsttimei had their lasagna, i was incredibly impressed and it became my favorite dish there. but when i had it again a couple weeks ago, it was nothing special. i wonder if perhaps it is under new management now.

usually pretty good!. me and my boyfriend use to be regulars on tuesdays.

the el diablo is an amazing dish! the french onion soup is the best in the city i can safely say.

the service has been going downhill. the servers i have seen over the past few years i feel like are not as chipper as they use to be honestly.

especially when i brought my grandma in a wheel chair their it was a nightmare. people kept bumping into here (waiters), and the whole facility is very anti wheelchair, which sucked getting into the building and taking her to the bathroom.

if you like fresh pasta, come here for sure.

its the best in the summertimeand sitting on the balcony. =)

i really want to like it. but...... i used to go to chianti's every week until i moved from edmonton 12 years ago. loved it. i moved back last year and since i've been back i try it every few months. not impressed. eachtimeit just ends up being a really trial and the food just isn't worth the hassle.

for example, tonight i went back after trying it about 4 months ago, swearing off ever going again and then tonight decided to give it another chance. getting seated wasn't a problem but once we got sat down is when the trouble began. there were only 2 of us. it took about 5 minutes to get someone to talk to us a first time. it took about another 10 minutes to get a simple diet coke and coffee from thetimewe ordered it.

we sat on the deck, and i had no idea the tim horton's is now a biker magnet, so the entire meal was accompanied by biker scum revving their mufferless engines in the back lane by the deck and choking us with fumes because they all sat there waiting to get onto 105 street. once i got my diet coke it was flat and skunky. my friend ordered an iced coffee (should be black coffee with ice right? but they charged him for a cappuccino.) the only plus was the buns were warm but essentially tasteless.

once we got our dishes one of the meals was actually wrong but at that point we'd been there so long and the whole place was so awful we decided that we would just shut up and eat it so we could get out. we ate as fast as we could because the whole experience was so bad.

my fettucinne was big and gummy and the tomato sauce was essentially bland and salt free.

when i asked for the bill it was another 5 minutes for her to bring it, and at least another 5 minutes to get change when i asked her not to go away until i settled the bill using cash.

we were never offered refills for our coke or coffee. once we got the meal everyone disappeared. it was truly awful in every respect.

we got in at 7:45. we just had one drink each, and a main course, no appetizer or dessert and we didn't get out until after 9. wtf???i thought i was going to burst a blood vessel. even for a monday that late it was a disaster.
