went there today for a quick dinner, and everything was great. the service was great and the food came out very fast and it was hot and delicious. i ordered the penne campesino and the server, taylor, was helpful and happy to accomodate my substitutions. overall a great experience and i will bebackvery soon.

compared to calgary very underwhelming bland pasta wont comebackand to top it off, the i'll came to $49.xx something gst being $02.36
i give the waiter $60, he asks if i want change? ya i'm not giving you $10+ tip, so the little shit comesbackwith a couple quarters and a $10 bill
just kinda low class & cheeky right ?
i have a $5 that i leave because i'm kinda pissed off that i just dropped $50 for 2 subpar plates of pasta and then the waiter tried to hustle me for a couple bucks
i was gonna give the standard 15% but no

came here with some colleagues after work last week. despite having the restaurant practically to ourselves service was slow. on the upside, food isn't very expensive. i'd recommend sticking to the pasta menu which will give you the best bang for your buck. its not going to blow you away but i'll comebacksome day.

my husband and i keep comingbackto this place. it's great value, especially if you manage to visit on "pasta frenzy" monday or tuesdays. their prices can't be beat for a huge portion of yummy pasta, with great service.  the food isn't out of the world, but it really is quite delicious, especially if you know what to order. personally, i recommend anything w/homemade pasta - the chicken diabloe is particularly good. and the desserts are fantastic! i appreciate the efficiency at chiantis - the wait is never long to be seated or have your food prepared. this is about the best deal you can get for a nice, sit-down meal at a restaurant.

terrible experience. went with my wife. a waiter brought us to thebackarea, not main area.
the people at the area were all asian.
many kind of asian, chinese, korean and filipino but no white peoole.
they stared at us and i realized the situation.
my wife and i are japanese.
i was so disappointed and left the area right away.
when we were leaving i checked the main floor.
there were enough available seats for us and people at there were all white.

edmonton diner. i was invited to lunch at chianti cafe in clareview; and although not a lover of pasta, i was very please with my spinach fettuccine dish. the service was great and the meals were served within a reasonable time. i would gobackand recommend it to others. the bread rolls were also hot and fresh; portions were adequate.

do not recommend at all. my husband and i travel and we use urbanspoon to select good restaurants when we go out of town. this is the worst one we have been to. the service was so slow that if we did not get serviced within 5 minutes we were walking out. that was after wating 15min for someone to notice us. we were very hungry and having skipped lunch the waitress failed to tell us how large the dishes were when we ordered. we could not believe the size of the antipasto for 2. this was not even antipasto it was just a heap of deep fried, stomach upsetting, unappetizing food. the waitress shoild have told us the size of the appetizer especially when we were ordering a full meal thereafter. i guess she wanted to chalk up our bill. the main course was overcooked. my husband had the combo of cannelonii, fettucinni and veap parmaseam. i truly believe they passed off the lasgna noodles as canneloni. my husband could not eat the veal because it looked so unappetizing and i could not even look at it on the plate so i covered it up with the overcooked fettuccini. the plate was cleared from the table less than half eaten. my lasgna was overcooked. my plate was cleared and it was not even a quarter eaten. we were asked how our meal was i mentioned it was overcooked. she just looked at us for a while then said she was sorry. i did not want my moneybackor special treatment but the nonchalent attitude was so disconcerning especially for the service industry. for the $80 we spent for two it was the worst experience my hustand and have ever had and we love to eat out and enjoy a good meal. having worked in the service industry i am a very good tipper but i could not even bring myself to leave this server or restaurant more than $5. i give this restaurant an "f:'

overall great experience. we walked into chiantis and was greeted by their host who was extremely friendly, and sat us to our table in thebackroom. our servers name was kelsey, she was very enthusiastic and told us about the nightly specials and did a great job. we ordered the salmon and it was delicious. we topped off the night with a baileys cheesecake recommended by our server and it was to die for.
we will be back.

delightful pasta for me, and awesome desserts. my sister and i headed over to chianti's last night for dinner. i had been there once before and had a good experience (fettuchini alfredo) but my sister is the pickiest of the picky,...and i wanted to see if i could impress her tastes with my choice of restaurant.
we were seated right away at the dinner rush, and it was a full house. the ambience was classic itallian restaurant, which i enjoy alot. after hearing some rave reviews about the ceasar salad i tried that to start and it was fantastic, and a great value. i ordered the the supremo fettuchini pasta dish which has scallops, smoked salmon and a curry cream sauce. my sister ordered the mare e monte linguini pasta which has scallops, mushrooms, peas and a garlic cream sauce. my plate was just how i liked it with plenty of sauce over my fresh pasta noodles and a generous amount of scallops and salmon. my sister (having specific tastes) had the waitress take the scallopsbackto be cooked longer (my sister likes caramalized scallops and its a different cooking process) my sister complained about the chicken that she has added to her pasta being too dry, and there not being enough sauce on her pasta. we ordered dessert afterwards to share a tiramasu, and a bailys irish cream cheese cake. it was very good. the best dessert i have had in a long time. my sister loved it. for both our meals, drinks, and the desserts in came in under $50. i recommend a meal here to anyone, even if they are picky they will leave this restaurant satisfied.

love it my whole life!!. maybe it is the vaulted ceilings or the smell of the food cooking but i just love chianti's.backwhen i was a young lass of 17(back in 1989), i discovered this gem on whyte. so much to love! insalata mista is fabulous and fresh, love the ravioli. love to attempt to speak the italian names of the dishes. desserts to die for (and yes, i am now more fluffy or jolly than i was at 17). my personal favourite is no longer on the menu but i can still order it, it is zabagliaone (sp?) which is warm frothy egg whites and red wine, kind of like a soft carmel pudding. i have never had a bad meal here. great for a date night, now if only my husband of 15 years could take a hint...

i really want to like it. but...... i used to go to chianti's every week until i moved from edmonton 12 years ago. loved it. i movedbacklast year and since i've beenbacki try it every few months. not impressed. each time it just ends up being a really trial and the food just isn't worth the hassle.

for example, tonight i wentbackafter trying it about 4 months ago, swearing off ever going again and then tonight decided to give it another chance. getting seated wasn't a problem but once we got sat down is when the trouble began. there were only 2 of us. it took about 5 minutes to get someone to talk to us a first time. it took about another 10 minutes to get a simple diet coke and coffee from the time we ordered it.

we sat on the deck, and i had no idea the tim horton's is now a biker magnet, so the entire meal was accompanied by biker scum revving their mufferless engines in thebacklane by the deck and choking us with fumes because they all sat there waiting to get onto 105 street. once i got my diet coke it was flat and skunky. my friend ordered an iced coffee (should be black coffee with ice right? but they charged him for a cappuccino.) the only plus was the buns were warm but essentially tasteless.

once we got our dishes one of the meals was actually wrong but at that point we'd been there so long and the whole place was so awful we decided that we would just shut up and eat it so we could get out. we ate as fast as we could because the whole experience was so bad.

my fettucinne was big and gummy and the tomato sauce was essentially bland and salt free.

when i asked for the bill it was another 5 minutes for her to bring it, and at least another 5 minutes to get change when i asked her not to go away until i settled the bill using cash.

we were never offered refills for our coke or coffee. once we got the meal everyone disappeared. it was truly awful in every respect.

we got in at 7:45. we just had one drink each, and a main course, no appetizer or dessert and we didn't get out until after 9. wtf???i thought i was going to burst a blood vessel. even for a monday that late it was a disaster.

i remember when chianti's opened several years back, sometime around 1987. i lived two blocks away. husband was a struggling student.
whenever we could scrape up enough money, chianti's was on our plate.
to me, they set the bar for all caesar salad's, simply because this is the first 'real' caesar i had and the crisp romaine, hints of anchovie...just wonderful. the pesto cream sauce is profoundly enjoyable, as are the fresh pastas and mouthwatering desserts.
it's been years since i've had the opportunity to visit chianti's and i lookbackat it like a longtime faithful friend that would never let me down.
