the best pasta i have had anywhere. i love italian food and pasta, this place by far is the best. they are affordable, the atmosphere isgoodand i have never had bad service. i prefer this location to the north one because they handmake thief noodles here and the other location doesn't. i have never had a dish i didn't like :)

not a fan. went once with my cousins for dinner on canada day. the food was pretty bland, the lasagna just had no flavor, one of us made the mistake of ordering some curry flavored pasta which he did not even have more than 2 or 3 bites of than left it alone. when we got there we were told they were out of bread, yet people who were eating when we arrived were eating bread, and the ones who arrived after were also eating bread...
i ended up putting a lot of that red pepper flakes onto my food just to give it some taste.

i have to say besides the placesgoodlocation it has nothing over a olive garden which is sad. one expects a small individual place like this to beat a massive chain any and every time. however i guess there is a reason why large chains are large and everywhere, because they do it right.

not impressed. my wife and i had our wedding reception at chianti’s. there were 30 people in our party and it was not the best experience. though it was in the late afternoon on a saturday (and they weren’t all that busy at the time) we all had the feeling that they were trying to rush us through the dinner; the servers were pressuring us to place our orders even before all of our party had even arrived. and though we did have three different servers for our party, there were times when we had to chase them down. the food itself was fine, but considering we were probably the largest group they would have had all night (and it had all been arranged four months before) we expected better service. what really left a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended) was, though we did leave a gratuity, as per custom, one of the managers called us at home a couple of days later, on the pretext of asking how everything went, but ultimately to request that we stop in an leave more of a gratuity! making us sound like cheapskates in spite of the fact that our total tab was over $900 for food and drink and they knew from the get go that we were on a tight budget. i was shocked at the audacity of them essentially saying “though you were nice enough to leave a tip, it wasn’tgoodenough!” as a result, they have lost our business, and i’ve been a loyal chianti’s patron for twenty years now. i certainly would not recommend them for larger groups, that’s for sure

experienced chianti for lunch for their pasta tuesday special. i was able to pick a pasta and the sauce. i chose the cheese ravioli with a curry sauce.

the meal started with a fresh warm roll. soon after the drinks were served my caesar salad appeared. i was offered freshly grated parmesan cheese to top my salad. very tasty, one of the best i've had.

it wasn't log after finishing my salad that the huge plate of my pasta choice was delivered. again the parmesan cheese was offered. it wasgoodthat i was hungry as i don't think i could of finished the whole plate!

food was terrific, service was friendly and fast, the atmosphere enjoyable...all-in-all, a great meal!

fun atmosphere in a repurposed post office. staff seemed eager to please. ample servings, goodvalue. our only complaint would be that the pasta sauces seem bland - seems the chef doesn't use enough garlic.

our new lunch craving is pasta. cheap and decent tasting pasta. none of that old spag shit. so chianti is our flavor of the week. penne alla gigi had spicy italian sausage, onion, sun dried tomatoes, garlic with spicy tomato sauce. it tasted like it looked, tomato saucy and some heat thanks to the sausage and sauce. not a hot hot hot heat, more like a “james harden new triple black shoe” hot. linguini marinara had baby shrimps and baby clams in a tomato sauce. @adubalicious says it was “a little bit saucy but delicious.” fettuccine supremo had scallops, smoked salmon, curry, cream, garlic and parmesan sauce. this was surprisingly reallygoodbecause i’ve never had this curry cream on pasta before. paired with the smoked salmon and scallops, damn, this is definitely something worth eating over and over again. fettucine diabloe had spinach noodles, shrimp (instead of chicken), artichokes, red peppers and spinach in a spicy pesto cream sauce. amanda said that, “everything tasted ok, but the artichokes tasted like wet socks.” i’ve seen what she puts in her mouth, so i believe her statement. tortellini alla marchese had veal filled noodles with pepperoncini in a cream pesto sauce. tortellini itself is just reallygoodbecause of just having a large portion of meat in one bite. even chef boyardee makesgoodtortellini. the peperoncini made this dish have some heat, well a little more heat than the penne alla gigi. space jam jordan’s heat, in comparison. dishes were all 9.99, that's lit af.

located on whyte ave, this place has a decent patio when it’s not winter in summer and pretty decent service. chianti is on a pokestop and close to a gym which is reachable if you’re on the patio. #valor #yellowisstupid

sal says: just eat it (monday/tuesday lunch only lol)

@adubalicious:goodportion size for the monday/tuesday deal. would definitely recommend.

colin says: (penne alla gigi)goodspicy sauce, tasted like store bought pasta, just ok.

have not been to this restaurant in years, once inside it appears to be the same, still comfy. service is friendly, chatty and took care of us quite well. for starters the wine selection is pretty good.
on to dinner.. bruschetta and mozza appetizers. not great, bruschetta is missing garlic and the baked mozza and its sauce are both a little disappointing. main courses of lasagna and gorgonzola ravioli. lasagna has great flavor and is loaded with meat, the ravioli really taste of gorgonzola both served with warm buns.
the food is prettygoodhere but the service and value are great.

i keep coming here year after year when i bring my junior high band students to edmonton for band festival. the service is excellent--even with a large group of teenagers. they go beyond just serving and make an effort to engage the students and make the smile! the food isgoodalthough the portion sizes are so generous that most of the group cannot finish! i am a bit disappointed in their bread--although it's was obviously fresh and hot out of the oven, it just isn't the quality it used to be. (or maybe it was just the calgary crowfoot location that had such bread.). also, the olive oil and balsamic vinegar is gone as well :( still love the pasta though and they are so flexible with "tweaking" the menu items to accommodate the customer.

nice ambiance, and service was fair, but i didn't enjoy my food at all. it didn't look good, it didn't taste good, but i was so hungry, i didn't send it back. i didn't feel verygoodthe next morning either, but i can't blame that on them. i had a couple of draft beer (traditional) that went down nicely. the beer was a reasonable price, the entre was $24.00 the calimari was rubbery and not seasoned very well. it wasn't greasy and it was hot enough, bothgoodthings. with a 20% tip, my solo bill was $62.00

will keep coming back. i love chianti's; the staff is always so kind and professional (a few of whom have stood out to me over the past year) and the food has always beengoodand come out in a reasonable amount of time. if you're looking for excellent pasta and friendly service in a casual atmosphere, this is the place! also, monday and tuesday are cheap nights, which is nice!

i recently ate here as part of a group xmas party. as a group, we had the group menu which includes soup or salad, pasta entree and dessert. several of my group chose the fettuccine supremo. i've never before encountered such weird funky thick doughy noodles passed off as fettuccine. yes, i have had homemade fettuccine. the noodles were 2-3x normal thickness like noodles that are not properly cooked and have stuck together. such a shame because the sauce was prettygoodotherwise. all of us except one only ate about half and didn't bother getting it to go...i know i wouldn't have eaten it later and i don't like waste. the one guy who finished his loved it however and has had it before. 1/5 people liking is pretty bad imo though and they should rethink their noodles...or don't call it fettuccine. seriously, you couldn't even roll one with a fork and had to cut it in pieces to eat it. also annoyed that the group menu only gives a choice of pasta or pasta...what gives?
otherwise the service was friendly.
