my wife and i ordered the french toast there this morning. it came out yellow and under cooked. it looked like a starbucks lemon loaf. there was a strawberry glaze that literally was soaking into the brioche bread. our waitress preceded to tell us that it was because it was brioche bread. we couldn't believe that felt comfortable serving us that. i am not one to write bad reviews, but this definitely deserves one.

yummy deserts!!. the best deserts in saskatoon- hands down. my favorite is the shmoo torte. the service can be hit and miss. i think they give better tables to diners who look like they are going to spend more. the meals can be hit or miss. i have never really been impressed with my dinners there. the brunches are really yummy! i would highly recommend calories for sunday brunch or dessert and coffee.

great place. we often head to calories for a late saturday night dessert stop. we have intended to go for a lunch or a supper but haven't made it yet so we can't speak of the menus other than to say calories is one of our favorite places to go and have a sweet something with some coffee to round out our saturday nights. we definitely recommend it. the staff is friendly and sweet, the desserts are amazing, and the coffee is perfect. we will be returning again and again.

lunch. the staff was a bit stuffy but the meal was excellent. beer and lemonade with a splash of pomegranate juice was a refreshing drink to start a late lunch on a friday. they also had a nice creamy tomato soup that paired nicely with the california club. will go back. chess board on hand : )

i love this place. my best friend and i frequent it for desserts, we love the atmosphere and the coffee. my boyfriend is a huge fan of the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, and i always steal a bite, i can't help myself! my personal favorite is the rich, beautifully textured toffee cheesecake. thinking about it makes me want some. i also enjoy the fries with aoli dip, burgers, eggs benedict, and bagels n' eggs. their fresh juice is also enjoyable. my only complaint is that i find the staff a bit cold and stiff...

dried out and over priced. just went here and got a few peices of cake to go. i thought it was all pretty gross, tasted like the same kinda cake you buy at safeway or superstore. i wont ever be coming back.

for dessert it's a good place to go but i have to say the past couple of times i have been there i was very disappointed. i tried the eggs benedict for brunch and the holandaise tasted only of melted butter. for the price there are better places in the city.

go here for an amazing dessert with your sweetheart. i don't recommend calories for a romantic supper. too bright and can be awkwardly quiet.

always lovely. i am a frequent customer to calories restaurant. i usually go for lunch, but have also been there for wine and dessert and dinner. i have yet to be disappointed. my favorite things about calories are the professional and friendly service, clean restaurant, local artwork decorating the walls, dessert, rosemary peach iced tea (you've gotta try it,) two different feature soups every day, and mussels! as a vegetarian i have noticed there is always at least one vegetariam soup on feature (usually a sandwich too.) the only thing i dislike about calories is the homemade ketchup. some of you may like this, in my opinion you just can't beat heinz..

'real food' shines at calories. i've been wanting to write a review for calories for a long time and i'm finally doing it!

we live a few hours out of town and only get into the city once or twice a month. and i very much look forward to dining at calories any chance we get! from perfect quiches, to hearty delicious from-scratch soups, to to-die-for desserts (my favourite is turtle squares!) and many more things, there has been nothing that i haven't enjoyed for the attention to detail in flavours, textures and presentation. even the kids plate with just one 'house-made' cookie or treat, is actually full of healthy-but-fun finger food that my kids think is so cool! i find myself going home inspired to research and try master something new... and even attempt to teach my kids what i've learned about classic french cooking!

but maybe what makes this place special to me is that i know just how committed they are to using the best local foods they can find. i know it costs more to buy food is raised 'small scale organic' ,'pasture-based' or 'wild caught' ...vs... the 'bigger-faster-fatter-cheaper' food that the sysco truck brings. it means many more accounts to manage, farms to visit, relationships to keep, not to mention the diverse kitchen skills needed to deal with whole animal butchery which is often the way local farmers need to sell meat.

and i guess i'll just say it...i am one of those "pasture-based" farmers. we've worked with quite a few local-food restaurants and things aren't always what they seem...lets just say...if the price seems to good to be true, it might be!

but remi and his team are the real deal...they take great pride in working with the best food they can get and doing all the preparation of it themselves, and have for almost 20 years, long before local food was "in". i hope it doesn't go unnoticed that their sauces and condiments take flavour to a whole new level not ever seen in the bulk commercial versions we are used to. from the time i've spent in the back of restaurant kitchens, i've seen how physically demanding, frantic-paced the work is, but when you add in the degree of "from-scratch" cooking that is always brewing in calories...well, my hat go off to you all as true artisans in your field!

thank you for every delicious real meal i've ever ate from your kitchen, calories...it was worth every bite!

ps they are the only chefs and staff that buy food for 'personal use' from us! i think that says a lot...

mains include the organic chicken, beef tenderloin special and elk stew. all of the proteins were cooked nicely. the smokey flavour of the bacon (wrapping the tenderloin) was quite overwhelming and may have been the only note of disappointment at the table. the quinoa was tasty and complemented both dishes it was served with.

go for dessert. to be honest, i`ve never had a complete meal here- i only go for the desserts. with that said, their cakes and lattes are delicious. i almost always get the same thing (schmoo torte and a london fog), but i highly doubt you can go wrong with any of their desserts. warm atmosphere and knowledgeable servers, too.
