calories restaurant

didn't meet expectations.... given the recent praise in planet s, and the overall good ratings about calories, i was not very impressed...

couple weeks ago i went to calories for the first time for dinner with my bf, we ordered the burger and lake trout. presentation was great, but taste wise was bland. i really hope they can add more flavour to everything. theirdessertmade up for the night.

last sunday, had my friend from toronto visiting me, so we went for the brunch. she had the maple syrup eggs and croissant, she said it was very sweet, it would be an indulgence to have the whole thing.. i had the frittata, the whole time wondering if they forgot the salt, texture was very good, fluffy and perfectly baked, but again totally lacking in the flavor department.

am i just ordering the wrong things?? any suggestions? i really don't want to give up on this place since it has such a good rep.

we just came here for dessert. i had the lemon torte, which was moist and delicious. it did get a little too sweet for me near the end of the slice though. we also tried the chocolate hazelnut cheesecake, which was very very chocolatey and rich, but the texture was beautiful. the raspberry white chocolate cheesecake was my favoritedessertout of the 3 we ordered. it was so so good. yes, the prices are on the high side, but that's to be expected. i will be back to try their food menu!

went here for the lunch. definitely loved the fresh bread that came with my meal anddessertwas delicious. inside looked nice but the paintings were odd. little pricy though. server was ok.

great food, anddessertwas to die for. wow, what a great experience. if your looking for great european cuisine in saskatoon, this is the spot. i had the tuna, and it was cooked to perfection, rare-medium rare. top it off with the best desserts in the city, and this is a night to remember. great job guys!

slightly pretentious, not my choice for a gourmet burger.. had supper there with my wife. having read all the descriptions, we were prepared to be amazed. we were not. we both ordered pretty straightforward meals - i had the burger, she had the veggie burger. the burgers were fine, but the fries were way over-salted and wilted. we both haddessert- she had the oreo cheesecake, i had the carrot cake. my wife enjoyed hers, but mine was dry and seemed like it had been sitting all day. anyone who thinks these desserts are better than those at prairie ink has rock in their heads.

overall, the place just seems slightly pretentious. from their homemade ketchup to the fact that they don't serve coke or pepsi products (because, we were told, the chef is planning on making colas from scratch), to the fact that their menus suggest they prefer cash or debit (they accepted a credit card when pressed), we just weren't impressed.

i've read the many reviews of the place and perhaps if we had tried something more complex we would have been happier. as far as gourmet burgers go, though, pay the extra two dollars and get the burger at ayden kitchen and bar - the burgers are tastier, the fries are better and you can actually get a coke with your meal.

best place in town. undoubtedly one of the best bakeries in the city... no wait... the absolute bestdessertplace in saskatoon...for sure... good food as well but their soups are always french...it seems anyway... otherwise good...try their shmoo

yummy deserts!!. the best deserts in saskatoon- hands down. my favorite is the shmoo torte. the service can be hit and miss. i think they give better tables to diners who look like they are going to spend more. the meals can be hit or miss. i have never really been impressed with my dinners there. the brunches are really yummy! i would highly recommend calories for sunday brunch ordessertand coffee.

great place. we often head to calories for a late saturday nightdessertstop. we have intended to go for a lunch or a supper but haven't made it yet so we can't speak of the menus other than to say calories is one of our favorite places to go and have a sweet something with some coffee to round out our saturday nights. we definitely recommend it. the staff is friendly and sweet, the desserts are amazing, and the coffee is perfect. we will be returning again and again.

fordessertit's a good place to go but i have to say the past couple of times i have been there i was very disappointed. i tried the eggs benedict for brunch and the holandaise tasted only of melted butter. for the price there are better places in the city.

go here for an amazingdessertwith your sweetheart. i don't recommend calories for a romantic supper. too bright and can be awkwardly quiet.

always lovely. i am a frequent customer to calories restaurant. i usually go for lunch, but have also been there for wine anddessertand dinner. i have yet to be disappointed. my favorite things about calories are the professional and friendly service, clean restaurant, local artwork decorating the walls, dessert, rosemary peach iced tea (you've gotta try it,) two different feature soups every day, and mussels! as a vegetarian i have noticed there is always at least one vegetariam soup on feature (usually a sandwich too.) the only thing i dislike about calories is the homemade ketchup. some of you may like this, in my opinion you just can't beat heinz..

patience is not my virtue. i love the food and desserts here! even the coffees and drinks rock! however, the service is always slow. even if we go for justdessertand coffee, it takes at least 15 to 20 minutes to arrive. we are talking about slicing a cake and frothing some milk. i keep going back for the love of the food. but they really need to do something about picking up the phone for reservations etc. i can never reach them during store hours.

greatdessertoptions. i've been here fordesserta few times and have enjoyed the cheesecake options in particular.
it's not my favorite place to go however - the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. the restaurant is small, which isn't a big deal but i don't like sitting in a 'squished' environment, where you can hear every word of the conversation the table next to you is having.
i've never had an issue with the staff but reading some of the reviews here make me a little uncomfortable - seems like the place is getting a little pretentious.
all in all, i enjoy calories for an occasional indulgence but it's not a place that i typically frequent.

great meal. my wife and i went here for date night recently and had one of the best meals we've had in a long time. the blue point oysters were the freshest and briniest we have ever had in saskatoon and we eat them any chance we get. i had a strip steak with fennel and a potato gratin. the steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were tasty as well. my wife had a chicken pasta dish that was good, but the diced chicken was overcooked ( the only fault in the entire meal). we couldn't leave withoutdessertand the toffee cheesecake looked good. it also tasted good and had crunchy toffee bits sprinkled on top. the service was attentive even though the place was packed. we have spent a lot of money on subpar fine dining experiences in saskatoon over the past year but we were very happy with our night at calories.

wtf!!! if you enjoy flavorless desserts this is the place for you! this is not based on a singledessertexperience, we purchased 4 different cakes tonight and all had absolutely no flavor! high chemical diet pops have more flavor than these desserts did! not only did they not have any flavor but they cost us a whopping $30. bon appetit!!!
